@BucketsUCSC My friend will be attending Kelly’s School of Business, and I know that he is SUPER excited! You can apply for financial aid and stuff, so you still have time. UCI and SDSU are also great schools. If you are blessed with all three to choose from, make the decision that feel right to you. Sorry, I know this was not the advice that you wanted… but if I helped, YAY!
Had my last Track meet yesterday. Finished my 1500m race with a 4:41 time (14 seconds faster than when I started!). Now, I shall celebrate with an ice bath, cause I am really sore from the whole season :((

@apple1893 i’m looking the problem is OOS public schools give very little merit aid and I won’t need financial aid but you’re right i’ll make the decision when the time comes, I can definitely afford OOS but i feel guilty if I’d have to burden my parents and potentially even my younger sister so it’s not all about me but i’ll worry about that this time next year
@ak2018 Thank you for the compliment, it goes a long way! Yes, it does suck, but keep in mind I can still get college credit by taking community college classes! So, I’m not out of the game!

The classes I’m most excited about next year are PLTW POE and Engineering Explorations I/Robotics. I’m finally doing a Robotics class! POE will give me my first exposure to high school physics. Since my current elective, Computer Math, takes place in the same room as the PLTW classes are in, I get to see all of the cool robotics stuff, as well as they get to do each day. I can’t wait to learn how to program in ROBOTC and build robots next year.

@ak2018 I actually live in Blacksburg. A lot of my friends have parents (mainly dads) who work at Tech. My dad works as a programmer at the Corporate Research Center (CRC).
Since they have an agreement with my high school to have a special early viewing for seniors applying there, it makes it easier to get in. It’s kind of a safety for now, solely because their philosophy department isn’t all that great. It’s honestly a shame since an environmental engineering professor (my intended major) there worked on the Flint water crisis, and I think he made national headlines, and got named on a Times list of influentual people or something. Also, I was born in MI and greatly prefer the city, so going to UMich (with a Top 5ish rank in philosophy and one of the best engineering schools in the country) is the dream. Too bad now I’m considered OOS and have rich(er) parents with no savings, given that my dads salary went up only recently.
For some random gossip about Tech, I’ve heard from seniors (who are going to Carnegie Mellon, Georgetown, etc., and have parents who are science profs AT TECH) that they weren’t even accepted into the honors dorm, since they have weird criteria for admission. A freshman there with a full ride to Tech (turned down MIT) is planning to or has dropped out of the honors dorm because the people there are too much like (name of extremely smart, yet obnoxious and pretentious senior at my school).
I know a senior going to UMich(!) who’s going 30k in debt per year who’s dad is a compsci professor (computer science engineering track, I think he said) and he caught a ring of kids cheating. In a 100 level class. Google the honorary system (or similar name) for Tech, and you’ll see that’s like a 2 point infraction. One guy already had 2 points, and at that point you’re kicked out of the college. Another thing is that out of the 20-30ish kids, around 10 were seniors, and if there is anything going on with the honorary thing, you aren’t allowed to graduate until it’s processed, and they likely will not graduate this term (the ceremony is/was this week). It’s been dubbed (lastnameofprofessor)gate by a friend of his.
That was probably tmi, but there’s a bit of dirt if anyone wants it.
@jakejake637 Haha, DE internet Marketing is just a weighted (blow off for most) class for me, so I can take DE Fashion Marketing senior year. DE Philosophy is actually an online class that I had to jump through a lot of hoops to take since it’s offered from elsewhere. DE PLTW PoE is kinda weird, but I’m kinda dreading it. The engineering teacher is really strict and really, really conservative, but I think what I learn from there will be helpful. Sociology is cool, and you can try and see if your school will let you take a class through BYU Independent Study or something.
@IrisShadow You actually live in Blacksburg?! OMG, what is it like? Have you actually toured the campus? Tell me as much as you can! LOL! I’m going on a tour there in a couple of weeks. I also really love philosophy and plan to take at least one philosophy class, if I go to VT. I know a lot of VT’s non-engineering departments aren’t that great, since they’re mainly known for engineering. Also, I believe the environmental engineering professor you’re talking about is Marc Edwards. He seems like a really nice, intelligent man. Thanks for the intel/gossip. :))

Hello and welcome to CC’s official High School Class of 2018 Thread. Here you can interact with other users who have the same high level of interest about school as you. Here, we talk about almost everything associated with school and our daily lives as well. During this time of the year, as I’ve seen so far, we’ve been talking about course selections for next year as well getting ready for junior year. The students on here a very supportive bunch and have helped me figure out problems as well as help me through some of the most stressful times during this year. @LeopardFire nah, I watched the anime after the game and they really don’t relate much at all. love live is a rhythm game so as long as you can click on the circles at the right time you’re A-okay. once you get used to the English game I recommend getting the Japanese because it’s a lot better imo
the anime is basically just all the girls going through how they became idols and then performing. playing the game first enhances the anime experience tbh because you’ll probably have a favorite girl and to see them in an anime is the best
@starbyte @preciousdiamond I wish us luck then for AP biology. I’d recommend you guys check out crash course and bozermanscience’s youtube channel maybe over the summer. I’ve heard they are really good for help in AP Biology. If I find anymore helpful things I will totally tell you guys.

@Abbiegalie I’m taking AP bio next year as well! I’ve already bought barrons flashcards and my friend is letting me borrow her barrons review book for the summer. I want to memorize the flashcards this summer so that I can be better prepared for the class because it is a lot of memorization.
