ACT all the way for me. I got a 30 the first time I took it and only a 1280 on the new PSAT
I would like to get:
PSAT 2016: ~1500/1520
I don’t know which test I’m going to take yet, but:
SAT: ~1550/1600
ACT: 35 or 36/36
Subject Tests: 800 on all three (Math II, WH, and some science, I don’t know which yet)
5s on all AP exams except for AP English and AP Spanish
Of course all of these are very hard so I will probably have to adjust my goals later on.
If you struggle on one test between the ACT/SAT and you can swing it financially, I would really recommend trying the other test. For example, I did way better on the ACT than the {old} SAT, but the SAT/PSAT went way better than the ACT for my friend. It’s all in the way your brain works, and which test best suits you.
@BucketsUCSC That is the reason why I’m taking it. I want the feel of an actual test. I’ll let you all know how it goes after Saturday.
The SAT is way easier for me, but I feel more comfortable with the ACT. That might change when I finally get used to the new SAT’s scoring scale. I scored a 1430 on the new PSAT and a 31 on a practice ACT exam. Probably just going to take both. I’m feeling pretty ambivalent about both exams.
We have to take the SAT at my school to graduate, but I probably won’t send my scores anywhere. I feel a lot more comfortable with the ACT because I feel it tests more knowledge while the SAT tests for natural intelligence
my goals:
PSAT: 1450-1500 (perfect my math score!)
SAT 2017: 1500-1550/1600
ACT: I would be happy with just a 32 lol
Subject II chem: 800! (may take more but I have no ideas right now)
5 on AP chem, at least a 3 on AP French, 5 on AP lit.
Well, today’s been going well. I did part of my final for Computer Math. I finished 4 out of 8 of the programs. Tomorrow is my last day to finish my final. I should be able to finish since I’ll have the class for twice as long as I usually do. We watched a movie, A Knight’s Tale, in World History, which was really good. In Chemistry, we were presenting our Bio-fest Projects. Since I’m in a specialty program at my school that specializes in Biotechnology, the whole point of Bio-fest is to get kids excited about Biotechnology. Our group did pretty well, even though one person kind of just took over. Our Chemistry teacher will be choosing which groups will be going to Bio-fest next week. Our group’s topic was synthetic polymers (plastics). Biofest is on Tuesday. My next period is PE, ugh. :-< I’m staying after school today for the Rocketry Club interest meeting. Also, our Chemistry teacher gave out our summer assignments for AP Chemistry.

There are a lot more with usually 50+ scholarships given each month. They even have pages specifically for people who want to be a specific major. I just found 39 scholarships for people who want to major in engineering. They are all different. I know I’m definitely going here for scholarships.
Here’s the engineering page: http://collegeapps.about.com/od/grantsandscholarships/tp/college-scholarships-engineering.htm
I just came back from my Rocketry Club Interest Meeting. It was pretty informative. We’re going to, hopefully, be competing in TARC, or the Team America Rocketry Challenge. There were only about 8 people, including myself at the meeting, but we expect a lot of freshmen to join too. I’m actually friends with one of the students who started the club. We’re both planning to do the same class, Engineering Explorations I/Robotics, and so we started talking after the meeting about the class. The class itself is going to be a mixture of FRC, VEX Robotics, and SeaPerch (Underwater Robotics). I honestly can’t wait. I’m actually going to try to do FRC , also know as The First Robotics Challenge, next year in Robotics Club instead of Vex, I’ll be doing VEX Robotics in POE, Principles of Engineering. She’s actually going to add me to our school’s FRC chat group through Google.
If you want to check out about these wonderful STEM organizations I just mentioned, here are the links:

Last day of school was today for me. It feels unreal! Almost feel like going back next week even though I know no one would be there. I’ve wanted the school year to end since December, but now that the day has come I wish I could stay a bumbling Soph just a little longer.
Apparently, I think this one girl I know might like me, as in LIKE LIKE me.
So I was staying after school just now and once I went to the downstairs cafeteria to wait for the activity bus to take me home when I saw her at a table and she saw me coming. I’ve actually seen and talked to her before. We met at the public library back in April and I’ve been slowly seeing her more and more. During SOL testing, since the library was closed except for this little room where the librarians work, I got to know and talk to her a lot more. I learned that she loves to read frequently, takes a lot of AP classes, loves pizza, and, the biggest part, is a senior. So I saw her today and she said to come sit with her, so I did. I was trying to work on some homework that I had for Chemistry, but then we started talking, which kind of got me a little, but it was mainly all of the really loud people in the room. So after about five minutes, she remembered that she needed to go see her AP Bio teacher and, I assumed, she went upstairs. Right before she left, she told me, and the other girl she was sitting with, if we could watch her backpack for her, which we did. I thought she’d be back in about 5 minutes. 30 minutes had passed and I kind of started to get a little worried that she might have forgot her backpack, so, being the somewhat kind, and slightly dumb :)) , gentleman I am, I literally ran all around school and up and down three floors just to find her and return her backpack, but couldn’t find her. I went back to the cafeteria and decided to give her backpack to the administrators who just said to leave it here in case the girl was looking for it. So, at around 4:45pm, the administrators told us to head out towards the buses, however, knowing my bus it was probably going to be late, but it actually came earlier than I thought it would. Outside, I saw the girl again, with her backpack. I was trying to do my Chemistry homework again, but we started talking again. I guess you could say that she must have been really pretty, funny, and talkative if she was able to distract me from my work, and you’d be right. She was all of those things, to be honest. Anyway, she asked if she could use my phone to call her mom to come pick her up, which I let her do. After that, we talked a little more, and then our bus finally came. Once we were on the bus, she told me to sit in the seat on the other side of the aisle, which I did. For the rest of the bus ride, we just talked and talked and had awkward pauses in between. The whole back of the bus was entirely too loud, so it was hard to hear her. We both got off at the same bus stop, which her told her mom to go to. Since I let her use my phone, she got her mom to give me a ride home. I would’ve had to have walked 1.7 miles if I walked home, but I would’ve been fine as I’ve done it before and be at home in 30 minutes. Her mom, who was a really nice Muslim lady, drove me home. She had the radio on and I heard that it was set to a station talking about Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. The girl tried to lower the volume, so I wouldn’t be offended by her mom’s political opinions, which was kind of cute, but her mom just turn it back up. She laughed at every she heard about Donald Trump, and I laughed a little too. We eventually got to my house, and I thanked them both for giving me a ride home.
Now I’m at home, thinking about the whole thing. I loved how we just talked a lot, and I got to know her. It’s a pretty weird feeling. In all honesty, if she wasn’t graduating in a couple of days, was sophomore or junior, and we got to know each other better, I wouldn’t mind if she asked me out, but I’d have to think about. I just don’t really consider myself boyfriend material. I’ve been focusing on school and I haven’t had a girlfriend since the 8th grade. I mean, she has everything I like in a girl. A girl that can slay with her looks and slay the books. She doesn’t even wear makeup and she’s still effortlessly pretty, no offense to the girls who do wear makeup, and she’s taking AP Gov, AP Lit, and AP Calc AB. Too bad I just don’t feel like I’d be able to handle a girlfriend.
@Hamlon you and me are going through the same situation I got a 31 on the ACT as well and a 1450 on the SAT a 1450 being better converted same for you too I think however just as you did I felt more comfortable with the ACT,but the man who runs the summer SAT boot camp I will be signing up for said the majority of students feel the ACT is easier but when he looks at scores its pretty evenly split between the two because the ACT for most has easier questions but the time is so tight on the ACT that half the kids do better on the SAT so I suggest that you spend your time on the SAT but it’s your call.
@ak2018 I haven’t related to anything more in my life (even though I’m a girl so it’s kinda the opposite but not really idk) lol but “slay with her looks and slay with the books” may seriously be my new Instagram bio haha
So I feel like I’m going to explode soon! It’s almost regents week and I feel like I’m screwed because it’s really hard to prepare for Common core ~X(
@BucketsUCSC I’ll take your advice. The timing on the ACT is rough. I actually had time left over on the PSAT to check over my answers.
I can’t believe I missed the Roots remake!! I was so busy with finals and forms for Junior year that I didn’t remember. :(( I hope the History Channel is showing 're-runs…
@Hamlon I think they are yesterday I accidentally ended up watching the same episode three times in a row (don’t ask me how). Its also on lifetime.
I need last minute interview advice ( what to do at an interview)!!!1
yeah I’m someone that really has to take time to think stuff through so the SAT is a better test for me
@aspiringgirl I had to interview for TASS and I have to say the best thing is to learn the background of what you’re applying for and to figure out what you could bring to the table. Know about everything you put on your application. Treat the interviewer like you would a mentor almost and show that you really care about joining whatever thing you’ve applied for. If they buy themselves a coffee and do not offer to do the same for you, you do not have to buy anything. If they do offer, DO NOT say that you can pay for it yourself. Very rude! You have the option of politely declining. Don’t rehearse a speech, but know the things you want to mention about yourself beforehand. If you get nervous over interviews, focus that energy into the passion you have for getting the job/opportunity. Take slow breaths and smile! (Will immediately calm you down) I mediated before my interview because I was so nervous!
