Is it to early to do a “Chance Me” thread? I want some feedback and see what my chances at Northwestern are like right now, but I feel like my unweighted GPA is going to chance too much next year for a valid prediction.
So I took an SAT and ACT online practice tests, and did terrible on the SAT one (1030 lol) and got a 27 on the ACT practice test. I feel like the ACT has much more straightforward questions than the SAT, while the SAT has questions designed to trip you up.
What were your subscores?
@DancingwithStars agree with you on the sat questions
Spent all of June studying for the Biology and Chemistry Olympiads, along with slight studying for Science Bowl and Science Olympiad (although SO events are not going to be finalized until November).
Sometimes, I feel so unproductive considering that my other friends went to leadership conferences like HOBY, took summer classes, volunteered at hospitals, etc. All I have is studying (which will hopefully pay off in February and March, though I’m not sure) and a summer program.
Anyway, I’ve been reading Campbell’s Biology, Zumdahl’s Chemistry (pretty much done with that book), and I’m hoping to start Atkins’ Physical Chemistry soon. I haven’t taken AP Biology nor AP Chemistry, so it takes longer for me to study for the Olympiads, which is unfortunate. I plan on completing Campbell’s Bio, Zumdahl’s Chem, and Atkins’ by the end of the summer so that I can start on higher level texts during the school year (Raven’s Plant Bio, Carey’s Organic, Albert’s Molecular Bio).
Oops, I forgot that I have summer homework. I would rather study all day than do some random homework for a class I don’t enjoy (>.> spanish and english). If only I could take all math and science classes instead of english and foreign language. History is cool though.
On another note, I’m so excited for AP scores and SAT Subject scores, though I still have to wait about a month for the SAT Subject scores. I only took one AP this year, so I am desperately hoping for a 5. I took 3 SAT IIs, and they weren’t THAT hard (although I doubt I got a 790-800).
Also, I received my schedule for next year, and I’m pretty mad over some of the things that happened. I am supposed to discuss my schedule with my counselor in late July (when I’m going to be away -.-), so I have no idea how my junior schedule is going to turn out. Such an eventful month.
@kassh4 If you want to do one, you can. However, remember to be wary of people’s advice on those “Chance Me” Thread. Some people will have your best, or worst, interest at heart.
@Muufeen What does it look like?
@ak2018 I signed up for AP Lang, AP Calc, AP Bio, APUSH, AP Spanish, AP Comp Sci A, and AP Physics 1. I also signed up for band just in case I wanted to do it again (but I no longer want to do band anymore; told my counselor that it would be a last resort).
Since my last name is at the end of the alphabet, my counselor didn’t get to talk to me during the school year about my schedule conflicts and so she called me saying that my list of classes would be messed up and that I would have to come in late July to talk to her…I won’t be here until the Saturday before school starts so I don’t know how I’m going to do this.
My list of classes is:
No first period
AP Lang
APUSH
AP Calc
AP Bio
AP Spanish
AP Physics 1
Band
Some problems:
If this list is correct, I’ll probably only have 5 classes next year out of the 7 I enrolled for…Meanwhile, everyone else has 7 classes. Ugh.
I just took the reading/writing part of my first khan academy practice test and got a 700 when I got a 650 on my PSAT. I’m pretty proud considering I’ve only been studying for the last two weeks. I have a softball game rn so I’ll probably take the math part when I get back. Yes I know this does not simulate test conditions. I just am very busy
Summer school has been so fun! I literally love the class. Yesterday, we ran 4 laps around the track, but we technically ran 2 miles because we ran the straights and walked the curves. After that we learned about licensing and licensing procedures, license restrictions, suspensions, and revocations. We also finished our first unit of Driver’s Education and will have the test sometime next week. Our group of friends created a group chat and it’s honestly lit! Since our teacher asks us questions on our daily quizzes pertaining to sports, specifically men’s college baseball, we have this group chat to help find things that will have us on the quiz the next day. The sports quiz questions will be on things that happened between the previous class and the current class (so from yesterday to today). I got a 4/5 on today’s quiz. We had three sports questions and I got one, technically two, of them wrong. We had an extra credit question, which I also got wrong, but it didn’t count.
I’m about to start my practice SAT on Khan Academy, wish me luck!
@ak2018 Your school combines PE and Driver’s Ed!!! LUCKY!!! THAT’S SO COOL!!!
@Ak2018 we have to take drivers ed at a private driving school outside of school for like $400.
OMG I’m literally about to cry right now! I clicked the “I’m done with the reading section button” on Khan Academy thinking it would go to the next reading passage, but it actually finished the test section. I didn’t even get to finish the section and it automatically omitted all of the other questions. I feel so stupid! :(( :(( I basically wasted a test! :((
@Ak2018 you can retake them
How? @snowfairy137
@ak2018 reset it by just going to your dashboard, full tests, select the practice test that you want to reset and scroll to the bottom where it says, “reset practice test x”
Never mind @snowfairy137 I just remembered that Khan Academy has SAT tests available to print. I’ll just use the read the document using my computer, track the time myself, an keep answer sheet. Thank God for this! ^:)^
Thanks @snowfairy137 I honestly got so scared about this whole thing. I literally had a little mini heart attack :)) I need to give myself a 30-minute chill break!
