I have my midterm exam tomorrow for Health and PE 2. Wish me luck.
good luck @ak2018
Girls Who Code is so much fun. IBM sponsors my group, and I learned so much. I have learned Python, Javascript, CSS, HTML, Scratch, amd C++. At least twice a week, speakers come in and talk about the numerous opportunities there are for women in tech. They talk about the stereotypes and the obstacles that women face, and how to overcome them. They also offer advice and further opportunities, like internships.
Even though I can’t drive, I have learned how to navigate public transportation. Yay! The bus and the train are really great, and they are environmentally friendly.
I am focusing on the SAT. Khan Academy has been helpful, but I feel frustrated that my math is not improving. My math score is in the 600s. Does anyone have any advice for the SAT math? Thanks.
Isn’t SAT very similar to ACT? So if you just study for SAT, there is not much to practice or stid
Study for ACT right…?*
Unless I’m wrong, meaning ACT requires different technique
@wildguy57 The two tests are very different. The ACT is straightforward, but the timing will have you work terribly fast. The SAT is not as straightforward, but has a much longer amount of time per section. As said here, it is best to pick one test and stick with it. Go with your best test.
@Ak2018 The state only pays for me to take 15 credits (3 classes) a quarter so it wouldnt fit in my schedule, and the course catolouge technically says it has a prereq. So I’m just sitting in on it. He talked about the possiblity of getting the credit after the fact, but I dont think that will really matter unless I end up getting a mechanical engineering degree from there which I probably wont.
@Ak2018 but yea, super excited. Hopefully this will open up more oppertunities!!
@snowfairy137 Still pretty cool though. Definitely keep me posted!
My AP Chemistry teacher just emailed me back and she said she’ll give me a PR 2016 Chemistry Textbook, once school starts, while I wait to buy for the 2017 edition. She asked how my summer was doing too. She’s so nice!
Well, I just came back from my summer school class.
Good News: I was able to run a mile (army-run style) in under 8 minutes with my friends in PE and I got a 95% on my midterm which means I’m one step closer to getting my learner’s permit.
Bad News: We lost a kickball to game to 8th graders 0 - 3. Our second time losing to them.
Three weeks have gone by and we are halfway through. Three more weeks to go! I’m kind of going to miss summer school though. Next summer, I’ll taking World History 2 online as they don’t offer it in summer school. We’re hella LIT! I’m especially going to miss the summer school squad. Why can’t it be this easy to make friends during the school year? :((
I just finished listening to The Dragonfly Effect by Gordon Korman! It was a really great read!
SAT Books are arriving tomorrow can’t wait to crank these two books out for the remainder of the summer
I just finished week 1 of driving school. Only one week to go. We have to take quizzes everyday and it’s so boring to pay attention for 3 straight hours. Thankfully, I’ve gotten 100% on every quiz. I need to schedule my drive times however. I have to do three for 2 hours each. Then, I can take my driver’s test in October!! B-)
Good luck to everyone working towards their permit! I was able to get mine a couple days ago and I passed by skimming the booklet and doing practice tests. Some of the questions on the practice tests were on the real test so I recommend doing them.
You guys must be really young or your state has weird laws. I got my permit more then a year ago and have had my license since november.
Well in my state, you can get a permit at 15 and 9 months. You can receive your license at 16 and 6 months.
In my state you can get a permit at 15 1/2 years (15 years if you are enrolled in drivers ed) and you have to have your permit for at least 6 months before you can get your license at age 16. I’m 16, will be 17 in December and I still don’t have my permit cause I have too much other stuff going on and don’t care that much.
@DaEmmJay23 Same. I just finished week 3 and we also have to take quizzes everyday. Good thing our quizzes aren’t worth a lot, because I usually only get like 2/5 or 3/5 of them right. Since our class is Health and PE 2/Driver’s Education, we only have to sit in the classroom for about an hour and twenty minutes for Driver’s Ed. We’re currently on Unit 6/10. I know I have an A in the class, but it’s starting to drop a little because of my failed quizzes, but we just took our midterm and I got a 95% on it, which should bring my grade up.
In the state of Virginia, you must be at least 15 and 6 months to get your permit, hold it for nine months, and then you can get your license, after you complete a Behind-The-Wheel course and 45 hours of driving with a parent, 15 of those hours must be at night, once you are 16 and 3 months.
Well in my state (Florida) you have to be 15 years old to get your permit then wait a year after you’ve had it to get your license. Lol I’ve had my permit since freshman year and I still haven’t gotten my license due to my parents not wanting to let me drive, even though I took drivers ed at school and drove an actual car many times lol
