Also, does anyone know when they are going to take the SATs next year? I didn’t know if I should take the SAT in November after the PSATs, or waiting until after the PSAT scores are out in January to take the SAT. Also I got a 1200 on my latest practice test, a big jump from the 1050 from 3 weeks ago. I got a 640 on reading and writing, and a 560 on math.
Take it early as possible. You want to be able to take it until you are happy with your score. Last thing you want is to be a rising senior and have to worry about the act
@AliceZ15 I’ve taken three and five tests. This year I will be taking four.
I plan on taking both but focusing more on the ACT. I’m only taking the SAT because it is required by my school for graduation, and I figure that if I do well on it than I could have two scores to send in as well as SAT2s and APs. My plan looks like this:
Junior Year:
October: ACT
October: PSAT/NMSQT (required by school)
October: SAT
November: SAT 2s (US History, Spanish w/Listening, and maybe molecular bio depending on what happens Thursday)
January: SAT (required by school)
January: ACT (if needed)
April: ACT or SAT (if needed)
May: AP Tests
June: SAT2s (Chemistry, Literature, and Math 2)
I’ve been studying two hours every day for the ACT and one hour every day for the PSAT/SAT.
@nyuhopeful44 What do you study for 2 hours? I just take practice tests and that takes 1 hour max including going over the mistakes.
I’ve done AP Human Geo and AP Euro so far because those are the only 2 offered at my school for freshmen and sophomores, respectively. I’m taking four next year (Bio, USH, Seminar, Calc AB) and probably 4 or 5 senior year.
On the topic of SATs, did anyone else take the June SAT? I’ve been counting down the days until the scores come out. July 21 is all I’ve been thinking about!
I did, I took SAT BIO M
Last year I took 5 honors with 2 APs, and this year I am taking 4 APs and 2 honors. It wasn’t that bad since I managed my work correctly.
Not many of you people seem doing a fourth year of language… Are four years even needed?
I am going to be taking Spanish 4 honors this year and then AP senior year. We need 2 years to graduate and I think a lot of colleges prefer 4 years of a foreign language.
Does anyone know the dates for PSAT
I have taken 4 APs (euro, studio art - photography, comp sci a, calc bc) and I will take 18-19 dual enrollment classes my junior and senior year.
@wildguy57 Wednesday, October 19th and Saturday, October 22nd.
@kassh4 I have the Princeton Review book and the Kaplan book and I work through those. I also have a “book of shame” where I keep every problem I’ve gotten wrong and I review rhat daily
I do the same thing, I have a binder with problems I get wrong
Which books would you guys recommend for SAT or PSAT?
I use Princeton Review and Khan Academy (website)
Do you guys have any tips to improve prep? I mainly just do practice tests an relearn old topics.
Hi I’m new to this thread. Has anyone taken PSAT 10? How does it compare to the actual SAT or PSAT/NMSQT? I got a 1360 (M710 RW650)
@ming3282 according to collegeboard, the PSAT 10 is the same test as the PSAT, just given at a later time. In comparison with the SAT, it’s basically the same thing with not-as-advanced math. By that, I mean no algebra II/trig stuff. I didn’t notice much of a difference on the reading section.
