High School Class of 2018

@ak2018 I mean in the end you should have spend enough time to be OK with each section. If you study strictly English first you can be more focused on that then having to worry about 3 other sections.

Does anyone here listen to MCR (My Chemical Romance)? I kind of want to get into them, but I don’t where to start! If they’re anything like Panic! At The Disco, then they’re definitely good. The only songs by MCR that I’ve listened to are The Kids of Yesterday and Teenagers.

There’s been apparently news of a MCR tour starting this September.

@ak2018 I was so excited when I heard about that at work today omfg

Personally, I’d recommend starting with the Black Parade album. It’s my favorite album of theirs because of the brilliant songwriting. I guess it depends on what you look for in music. I always look for clever and meaningful lyrics, but some people look more for the emotion of the music. If you’re more on the emotional side, start with Three Cheers. It’s pure grit and anger. If you’re just looking for music that sounds nice, start with their newest album which I suppose is the most like P!ATD.

Guys I got a 760 on Biology M, should I retake it (wanna apply to Harvard)

I finallly got my delayed calc BC score and I got a 5 with a 5 ab subscore!!!

@snowfairy137 crazy congrats

Hey guys do u think a 760 on SAT BIO M is enough for Harvard (and other ivies)?

@Tobster18 I would say to redo it. It all really depends on the way the test was curved. Some tests are curved high, some not as much. If you personally think feel you can do much better, go for it.

@oPhilippos Thanks! I’m a person that likes songs with good, meaningful lyrics, but also something you can dance too. One of my friends told me to start with Black Parade too, so I’ll start there.

OMG guys, I just saw Walmart’s Back-To-School commercial, the first back-to-school commercial I’ve seen this summer, and I’m internally screaming. Where has this summer gone?! I was literally walking through Walmart today and they had a Back-To-School display already set up and I was like :-t ! It’s only a short amount of time before I have to clothes and supplies shopping! Back-to-school, more like back-to-hell! :))

Have you guys seen any back-to-school commercials? The only thing I like about those commercials is thinking about all the supplies and clothes I’m going to buy.

Also, how many days until you guys start school? I have a month and a week left.

@snowfairy137 Congrats!

@Tobster18 I would recommend not retaking a 760. It is already past 750 so it is fine for ivies.

I just retook an ACT English Drill, a mini-test, from my prep book and I only got 2 questions wrong this time instead of 5. I did the drill for the first time three weeks ago and got 10/15 of the questions correct. Three weeks later, after actually reading through the prep book, I actually did a lot better. This time, I had 13/15 of the questions correct!

I think what I’m going to try and do with the drills is redo them two weeks or so after I take them, by then I’ll forget the answers, and see if I do any better. If I don’t, I’ll go redo that section. Overall, this definitely made my day.

While I was doing the drill I also timed myself. I gave myself 9 minutes to do the 15-questioned drill. I just did a math proportion, which I love doing in my head, to figure out that if we’re given 45 minutes to complete 75 questions on the English section of the ACT, then you should only need 9 minutes to complete 15 questions. I finished with 2 minutes and 50 seconds left to spare. I feel like I should start slowing down a bit, since a lot of the times, when I breezing by on any test, I feel I’m getting the answers wrong, but I don’t know. What do you guys think?

@ak2018 Go at a speed that is comfortable and are not missing crucial details.

@kassh4 Gotcha! I feel on the real ACT, if I have any extra time, I should look over the test section I’m on, something I usually never have time for on most timed tests.

@ak2018 Chances are you will only have that kind of time on the English section. Maybe on the math if you are good at math.

I don’t think that a small score difference will affect your chances of Ivy leagues, spend that time volunteering and doing ECs

I go back to school in 2 months almost exactaly haha

I got a 710 on Bio M and am debating on whether or not to retake. My goal was a 700+ but a 710 just seems too low. Thoughts anyone? My top schools are NYU, UMich, Boston, and George Washington

OK, I seriously need help on understanding verbs and participles. I honestly never knew what participles were. I’ll probably watch a YouTube video about it later.
