@Soccer1235 I swim for my school’s team. It is a really fun sport and in the first few weeks you will improve quite a bit. It can be hard at times, but it’s great for your health and you meet lots of cool people on the team.
On a side note, I am very happy that I have my fall break in two weeks. I am probably going to get straight A’s this quarter (96 in APUSH, 95 in APLAC, 97 in AP Stats, 97 in AP Spanish, 102 in APAH, 94 in AP Chem) and I like all of my classes (especially AP Stats/AP Spanish), but I need a break for a week. I am going to use my fall break to study for the PSAT so I can hopefully be a semifinalist. The cutoff in my state isn’t too bad (219), but it still is rather hard to get.
@apple1893 I think I have a friend that goes to the same school as you… She literally just did the same thing with the college visits. :o
@Hamlon You should definitely visit. You don’t want to get in, attend, and then realize you had too high expectations.
My Grades:
Pre-Calc - 79% - C+
I got a C- on a graded homework assignment, which is the only major grade in right now. Hopefully, my quiz grades will bring it back up.
Financial Literacy - 100% - A+
Easy elective is easy
Honors Latin III - 96.5% - A
Only .5% away from an A+ >:U I love this class, my classmates are super energetic and my teacher is awesome.
Intro to Marketing - 99.1% - A+
Easy elective is easy
AP Lang - No Grade
My first graded assignment isn’t due until this Friday. Chillest AP class ever~
APUSH - 78.67% - C+
I’m really hoping my DBQ will bring me up to a B-, but I have my doubts.
Gym - 95% - A
As long as you show up and change, you pretty much can’t fail.
Chemistry - 93% - A
Not much to say here. I feel bad for my teacher, because this is the last class of the day. She is all talkative, and all of her students are very quiet.
Grades: I think it’s the midterm already! I’ll put weighted first and then unweighted letter
AP Lit - 84.45% - A/B
My teacher gives quizzes every day on the readings we had the night before, and since he tests for the most specific details, my highest score so far is a 3/5. I got an 80% (6 on the 9 point scale) on my first in-class essay, so that’s not too bad.
Honors Spanish IV - 97.83% - H+/A+
I am fluent in Spanish, and the reason I don’t have a 99+ is because I forgot about one homework assignment and ended up with a 50% on that assignment.
APUSH - 96.00% - H/A
This is not that hard of a course, and it is helpful that the class is directed towards sophomores.
AP Stats - 93.83% H/A
Slightly harder than I thought it would be, but should be a manageable class
AP Gov - 97.96% H+/A+
The grade doesn’t reflect the last test, which I somehow got a 92% on even though the average was a 66% or so. I didn’t expect a hard class, so it will take more studying than I thought it would take.
AP Chem - 94.76% H/A
My teacher is awesome; she teaches well, but I really messed up on a lab which took me down a bit.
My weighted GPA thus far is a 4.933 and my UW is a 3.833 (which is lower than I would like)
Edit: the weighted is great I mean, but the UW is a bit low
We’re on our 4th week of school starting next week. The first quarter doesn’t end until October 28th.
My grades:
AP Lang: 68.79% (F)
I have one assignment missing since I turned it in handwritten instead of typed and my teacher told me to redo it.
APUSH: 95.45% (A)
I don’t have an A+ because I got an 80 on the first quiz (I didn’t study. lol).
Calculus: idk
The grade portal hasn’t been updated yet for my math class.
Honors French 4: 96.16% (A)
I would have a B but I got a 4/3 on class participation (speaking in French to the teacher’s satisfaction in class) one week.
Honors Chemistry: 97.5% (A)
This grade could change after the test grade from Friday is entered.
Honors Band: 100% (A+)
There’s only one grade in and that is from participating in pep band at the home football game last week. Probably will stay the same or go down less than a point after my playing test tomorrow.
I’m so excited!! I’m going to Montreal Columbus Day weekend to visit McGill! This will be my first formal college visit and it will be to the school my grandfather graduated from in an amazing city in Canada! I’m so happy that it’s close to where I live so we can drive there for the long weekend! I’m also going to my first college information session next Sunday for my dream school - Caltech! Sadly my mom won’t be able to take me since she’ll be away for a conference, but I’ll be able to go with my sister and uncle for a day trip!
I’m joining S.N.H.C tonight! It’s 7:45p and I’m just starting my homework. I have English, History, Math, and French to do.
Joining the SNHC about halfway through my homework load. Or, more like 98% through my homework load. All I have left is a 5 minute free write on a prompt of my choosing between 2, and that’s only because I missed it when I came late to APUSH on Friday because I was talking with an admissions counselor from a school of interest in my guidance office. So, off to do that! I’ve already finished my Chapter 3 APUSH packet that I had to do tonight, too.
I’m currently in US History class right now and my teacher is literally walking around the class like he’s an astronaut playing football. I go to the weirdest school!
School starts in 2 days for me ahhh. Plus I have my first calc test that day cause Ive already started that class.
Also I’m really nervous for the psat bc I got one higher than my state’s index last year without studying but I’m doing worse on my practice tests.
Also my September ACT scores start coming out very soon and im super nervous and excited for those. I just dont wanna take the test again.
I was hanging out in the engineering 3 class at my school after the robotics lunch meeeting cause i have friends there and the teacher’s super chill and they are building cardboard bridges that the teacher is going to walk across which should be funny. I said “cardboard is the chicken mcnuggets of wood” and I am pretty proud of that analogy lol.
Im also freaking out about colleges rn but thats a whole nother post. Maybe I’ll talk about it later.
Ugh I already feel burnt out. My life is currently APUSH homework in between work, marching band, and homework for other classes. I have seemingly no free time to myself anymore, but I think (at least until my life gets busier) I will make Monday my chill day from the constant stream of APUSH homework. If I don’t take a break for at least a small amount of time, my life will crumble apart haha
my teacher gives out APUSH homework about 32 pages at a time and they’re always due on d days so I usually procrastinate until the day before and I’m often up until like 1-2 am:(( I also have my first AP chem and precalc test this Friday and I’m so scared!!
@snowfairy137 I cant’ believe that you’re still on break. :o Lucky. I hope your ACT went well!
@Marg532 APUSH is definitely brutal. The next quiz hasn’t even been announced yet and I’m already anxious about it…
So today was meh day. I flunked my Pre-Calc quiz, and now my grade is in the pits. I’m hoping to get a C+/B- this quarter, a B/B+ the next, and get around a B on the midterm, so I can end the semester with at least a B-.
On a happier note, I got a 5/7 on my first DBQ in APUSH. I know that doesn’t sound great, but almost everyone got 3’s, with a few 4’s. I believe less than 5 people who take APUSH got, well, a five 5. So, I’m pretty proud of that. Unfortunately, this won’t be big enough to make a positive impact on my overall grade, but at least its a good sign for the future.
@LeopardFire I completely agree that APUSH is brutal haha this is only the second full week of school and at least 6 people, if not more, have dropped the class already, even people who are way more smart than I am.
Because of that, I freaked out last week and went to talk to my old WHAP teacher (who worked in the admissions office of his alma mater for a while before he found his first job) and he totally calmed me down haha. He told me that colleges would much rather see a more rigorous course load than extremely good grades, if it were one or the other (obviously both would be preferable). He also scolded me for comparing myself to other people and assured me that I was plenty smart. He also gave me the “flaming asteroid” metaphor. The world could get hit by a flaming asteroid, so I should spend less time worrying about the future and more time making today count. I love my WHAP teacher. He has to be the favorite academic teacher I’ve ever had.
@ks2018 I usually procrastinate my APUSH hw too haha it’s always due at 11:59 Sunday night (it’s on Google Classroom) and I’m usually racing the clock to finish the packet haha
