We’re supposed to have another windstorm. There was one last November that knocked out power for like 2 weeks and all around caused so many problems it got a name: Windpokalypse 2K15. Hopefully we don’t have a repeat of that…
And if anyone tells me climate change is a hoax I will punch them in the face.
I literally came back home from what was likely “the deadliest bus ride EVER!”
So we were literally on the bus with our pissed off bus driver trying to tune us out. You know why? Because we were being loud as hell. I was sitting in the front while all of the loud, and obnoxious, people were sitting in the back, singing to music. It was honestly really annoying not only to me, but to the bus driver. She became so fed up that she called in on her radio asking if she can not have to pick us up again We were on an activity bus, meaning an after school activity bud for anyone that couldn’t get a ride home. We honestly hated that bus driver as much as she hated us. Anyway, as we were nearing our bus stop, people in the back started hearing a buzzing sound. That’s when people started freaking out. Then smoke appeared and that when everyone in the back started to scream “Stop!” and “There’s smoke!”. Everyone in the back started get up and run to the front, while the bus driver was telling everyone to calm down. We were in the left lane of the road so the bus driver literally had to swerve to the right to park on the side of the road and in doing so dented and scratched the front of another car. This had all happened before I even processed what was going on. I didn’t really process that I was in any real danger. I just sat there, distracted, not thinking the bus could actually combust into flames. I was in the front, so once I finally came to, I got off. Luckily, everyone got off safely. But everyone was pissed. People started calling their parents while I was there just contemplating whether or not it would be legal for me to leave the scene and just walk home or stay and watch the bus explode. :)) Eventually, three fire trucks and a police car came onto the scene and told anyone who hadn’t already been picked up by their parents to get on the new bus that came to pick us up. This bus driver was much nicer! After that, I finally made it to my bus stop, got off, and walked home with a friend.
All I can say is, I hope that one bus driver get fired or quits. The friend I was walking with rides that bus driver’s bus everyday and says that she is terrible. She literally hates noise. She apparently stopped the bus just to tell the kid in the seat behind her to put his Rubik’s Cube away because the noise distracted her. Like, I don’t understand why someone why go through all this torment and annoyance for a low amount of money. If you don’t like working around places with lots of noise, being a bus driver is definitely not an option. They are going to talk. They definitely don’t have to yell, but it’s probably going to get a little loud. Also, apparently the reason for the smoke was that something in the back of the bus overheated. The bus driver actually had to stop several times to fix something at the front of the bus, which might have been the cause.
I don’t really know if I’m going to stay after school anymore. I really don’t want to have to ride that bus EVER again, but it’s my only mode of transportation after school. My parents are at work until 7pm most nights. This whole ordeal made me wish I had a car! This whole ordeal, however, has given me the motivation to start a petition to get another bus to split our bus in half so it wouldn’t be so crowded all the time. Those that live in my area aren’t usually the teenagers that expect a car to be given to them once they turn 16. Something needs to be done about this. I’m at least going to try.
@ak2018 You must be good at writing essays.
@neonerudite We just started our school’s GSA, called Pride and Allies. I was just voted secretary on Wednesday, and I’m super proud!!! We are also currently trying to figure out what our group is going to be, but we have a few ideas. Right now, all that we do on a regular basis is introducing ourselves, stating our label (ally, sexuality, gender, if you’re comfortable with it) and highs and lows of the past couple of weeks (we meet biweekly). I feel like the group will end up being a mix of social and support. I’m just really excited to see where this group goes!
@cliffnotes Dude, my grade in calculus literally just moved up to an A too!!!
Anyone have any tips for writing an APUSH dbq? First DBQ and i legit have no idea how to approach it.
My AP Chem teacher just put in our test as extra credit (meaning I got 93 bonus points instead of a 93%) and I really hope he doesn’t figure it out :))
@ak2018 Do you think the bus could have actually burst into flames?! That sounds terrifying. :s
@kassh4 Did you get the documents before hand? If so, you can do this outline thing called APPARTS that my APUSH teacher told my class about:
Audience:
Place + Time:
Prior Knowledge:
Author:
Reason: (why, cause)
The Main Idea: (desired effect)
Significance: (actual effect)
Also, once you form your argument, group the documents based on what body paragraph they apply to. Basically, its just like planning a timed essay.
@nyuhopeful44 What is your AP Chem grade with that? :o
I was too lazy to do my Pre-Calc GHA last night, so I woke up at 5 AM today to do it… I hate myself. :’)
@averagebean Well, I am in AP Lang.
@LeopardFire We honestly thought it was, but actually the engine blew.
@LeopardFire 125%
@nyuhopeful44 Seriously?!
What was your grade before?
My AP Chem teacher told us that our last quiz was our worst quiz so far. RIP to getting an A this quarter in AP Chem.
@ak2018 Hey, maybe you were one of the few to get a good score. Don’t give up hope yet.
I’m a little ashamed to admit this, but during APUSH today, I found out that Archive of Our Own isn’t blocked by my school’s Wi-Fi, and I sorta-kinda spent the whole period reading fanfiction. orz
I did soo bad on my chem test today.
@snowfairy137 Topic?
Yooo so tomorrow is the PSAT and I really want National Merit! I haven’t studied due to quite a bit of school homework, but all I have to do is do as well as last year in order to qualify as long as cutoff remains the same (which it may not).
@Soccer1235 Don’t you mean Wednesday? All of the public schools in our county paid for all of the 9th, 10, and 11th graders to take. Our school actually told the seniors that PSAT Day can be Senior Ditch Day for all they care. They said it’s perfectly acceptable not to come. The seniors who do come to school next Wednesday will be going on a field trip.
@Super5000ify Solutions
@Ak2018 there are multiple test dates
@ak2018 There’s a Saturday date for schools that don’t want to interrupt class instruction or students who would otherwise miss it.
