@LeopardFire My sister and I are Irish Twins (both born during the same year). She’s twinning with her friends and I’m not twinning with anyone.
for summer programs I applied to Washington Areospace Scholars and that’s probably gonna be it. I might go to El Salvador again, but I already was accepted to that program last year and its really casual so I don’t need to reapply. I’ll also probably have the same summer job (STEM camp counselor) and I’ll start college apps… heh. Besides that theres just normal family vacations, robotics, personal extracurricular projects, and chilling lol. I can’t believe I’m planning out my summer 8 months in advance lol.
My grades at the moment:
AP Bio: 97% A
AP Comp Sci: 100% A+
AP Lang: 96% A
AP Stats: 95% A
German 2: 96% A
Honors Precalc: 98% A+
Poli Sci: No clue. My professor hasn’t put in our grades. I know I’ve gotten a few A’s, one A+, and one A-.
Well, I got real bad news:
I bombed my Spanish test, which I will retake, and got a 63% on my Periodicity and Photo-electron Spectroscopy quiz.
My worst part was the Periodic Trends. I did really well with Photoelectron Spectroscopy. I really hope my lab grade will bring my grade up. I highly doubt it though, since he said our lab reports weren’t the best. I’d honestly be so happy just to pass the quarter with a B.
Tomorrow is throwback Tuesday and I’m going to go as a disco guy (afro, purple shirt slightly unbuttoned) I already have the afro so there’s not much left for that!
Tomorrow is Good vs. Evil Day at my school. I don’t know who to dress up as. Any suggestions? I planned on using a suit jacket in my costume. So far my ideas are: a corrupt businessman, a politician, or Lucifer, the eternal prince of darkness. :)) I also had an idea of being the complete opposite of my self. Like me from an alternate universe. What do you guys think?
Also, today, I went to a GMU college representative visit at my school. I’m also planning on going to another session of college admissions stuff at 7pm at my local library.
@frazzledazzle That’s neat! Do people ever ask you if you mind sharing your birthday? Personally, it’s never bothered me, but I guess I’m just used to it.
@neptuna Nice! I can’t even begin to fathom having my lowest grade being a 95.
@ak2018 You should try to go as Donald Trump, if you think that wouldn’t ruffle too many feathers. Wear a suit and gray-blonde wig. xP
My first AP Lang essay (from nearly a month ago :U ) was graded. I got a 90, which makes my overall grade a 91.1. I’m hoping I will be able to maintain at least an A- for the quarter!
Also, I think I’m going to enter a nonfiction writing contest. I’ve always thought about entering something like this, but I’ve always held back due to laziness or self-doubt. This time, I’d at least like to try.
@LeopardFire I see what you did there! :)) :)) :)) I probably couldn’t pull it off though because:
- It would ruffle up the feathers of the 50% - 65% of Trump supporters at my school.
- Due to my darker skin, I could never pull it off. :))
But in all honestly, I feel like this whole election has made me start to dislike the idea of a two-party system. I mean, at first, I was fine with everything and then this summer, everything started to get worse. I felt like politics was all anyone would talk about. Starting back in August, I started slowly going on social media less and less as the number of Trump and Hillary memes increased and the comment sections started to grow more and more vicious. Whenever someone started to talk about politics, I would either try to get out of the conversation, or change the subject. Sometimes, I just honestly lie down on my bed and think about the future and it really does get me depressed. Being kind of introvert, speaking my mind can be kind of a hard thing for me to do. It’s more of a thing where I usually say something, someone gets offended, I hate myself for doing so and immediately regretting saying what I just said, but it’s too late because it’ll be burned into my memory for months. I don’t know if this is a “me” thing, but it’s been happening to me to for a while. My U.S. History teacher noticed how much of a mature opinion I have on the election and politics and said that if I ever need someone to talk about it all, as he is pretty unbiased himself, his classroom door is always open. I’m kind of glad it is. I’ll probably be talking to him more closer to and after the election.
It really took me quite a bit of courage to post this. I just felt I really needed to get this off my chest.
@ak2018 Politics suck. I’ve been paying more attention than I ever have, and it has brought nothing but stress. Of course I hate Donald Trump, but I know that I’m extremely biased, and I’ve never really tried to consider the opposite perspective. I know Hillary is no saint, I’ve heard about the corrupt things she’s supposedly done, but I can’t bring myself to care anymore. I don’t believe that we will ever be able to escape a two-party system. Third parties will never get enough support, and even then, I don’t even like Johnson or Stein that much. There’s no happy ending. :\
@LeopardFire I feel the exact same way! Once I turn 18, I plan to vote for who I want to vote for, even if it means a third party candidate. They might not likely ever win again, but at least I voted. At the very least, you couldn’t say I didn’t do anything about it.
I’m pretty sure that no matter what happens, our lives won’t be changed very much. America and Americans might look really odd (for lack of a better word) to other nations, but in the end, not much will change.
Yooo the rockefeller ssrp program application is OPEN! I will apply, but am most assuredly going to be rejected :))
Edit: it doesn’t work I’ll email someone
@Soccer1235 I mean, as we’ve all seen, a good deal of our lives can change in just four years. Politics definitely plays a role in our world.
Wait what? It doesn’t work? Weird…
@ak2018 yes it does have an impact in the grand scheme of things, but will YOUR life go down the drain or rise into the sky if Trump/Clinton is elected? Most likely not
@ak2018 Fair enough, but I feel like in an election like the current one, voting third party is just throwing away your vote. Of course, this is me with my Democratic bias speaking…
@Soccer1235 Maybe not directly, but I’d still prefer to get the person best suited for the job. I really hope that Congress is dominated by Democrats ASAP, so they and Hillary can actually get to work. Besides, just assuming everything will be fine with whatever candidate can be a dangerous mindset.
I created the name and you created the abbreviation, S.N.H.C. @ak2018
I asked my chem teacher if the class will prepare me the the SAT Chem subject test… He said no.
SICK BRO!!!
Don’t shoot me, but I am personally a Republican. And at my school where everyone is democrat, its really hard to speak my mind. If you asked me in August-September who I supported I would’ve reluctantly said trump, and I got so much hate at my school for it. But now I’ve realized its not just a vote for your party but your candidate. The way I look at it is, trump is not morally fit to be president, clinton is too scandalous (wikileaks has a lot of baggage on her), gary johnson’s ignorance is not bliss, and jill stein is too far left.
I also feel like presidents don’t really have that much power, as congress makes most of the decisions, so the only races that matter this year are the senate and house races, as well as local races. Because the officials elected in your neighborhood have much more of an impact on your life than the one elected to live in the white house for 4 years.
