High School Class of 2018

Hi!
@snowfairy137 You’re taking classes at your local community college? Me too! Is the state paying or are you?

Ok so the whole election thing has gone way too far at my school. The seniors, who can vote, are writing who they are voting for on their foreheads. There have been rumors of minorities at my school being targeted for voting anyone but Trump. Since I go to a really conservative school, going to school on November 9th is going to be brutal!

@ak2018 I’m happy that I go to a fairly liberal school in a liberal town. There are conservatives (typically people who live in outlying towns that feed into my school), though. I’m sorry that things are being taken that far at your school.

@arinuma I’m taking classes at a local university but yea! The states paying lol.

Since y’all are on the politics topics, I wanted to join in. My family is generally very conservative, as am I. But this election is different. I am very much against the Republican and 75% for the Democrat. I feel awkward and out of place in discussions and almost feel as though they are upset with me for a choice I made.

@ak2018 That’s insane. There is an extreme liberal bias at my school, during Chemistry today my teacher casually said she couldn’t fathom Trump becoming president. I imagine that wouldn’t go over well in some places. :stuck_out_tongue:

@FuturePICUNurse I’m kinda in the opposite situation. Everyone supports Hillary (or at least, prefer her to Trump) but my mom. I’ve been arguing with her for the past few weeks. I know I should just drop the subject, but it frustrates me so much…

I get so much hate when I say I support Donald Trump (go to a very liberal school, with liberal teachers and students). I feel like our liberally biased media has managed to trick the minds of many into thinking this is an election based off personality rather than policy.

@Tobster18 I agree that policy is most important, but personality should play a factor to some extent. The president is the one political figure that virtually everyone around the globe knows, they should carry themselves gracefully.

I think schools should have a mock presidential debate, with representatives chosen by the students. That could be an opportunity for us to directly compare the policies of the candidates, instead of talking about scandals all the time.

I’m officially starting my social media ban for the next week or so. I thought I wouldn’t have to do so, but I’m already seeing the “Who would you vote for: Trump or Hillary?” posts on Instagram and Twitter and I’m already getting really annoyed. I kind of don’t want to know who my friends would vote for anyway. It would feel really awkward.

@Tobster18 His economic policy is trickle down theory. The last president who did this to the extent that Trump plans to was Herbert Hoover and we ended up with the Great Depression. Reagan did something similar but put in restraints to make it work, which Trump does not plan to do. Our already unstable economy can’t handle something like that. And that’s just economics. His wall idea will put is in bad terms with Mexico and quite possibly will start a war, which we won’t be able to pay for because of trickle down. He wants to ban all Muslims, which could start something similar to the halocaust. He doesn’t have any respect for women-- he actually will go on trial for two different rapes before the end of 2016. I get that Hillary has her problems, and if she were against Mitt Romney or someone I would probably vote against her. But I don’t want to live in a poor, racist, sexist Trump world.

Side note: this election effects our generation more than anyone, and we can’t even vote :((

No, I’m not dead, just been really busy!

@snowfairy137 Yeah; I get it- I swear that’s the best thing ever! Textbooks, tuition and all that… What classes are you taking?

And to everyone discussing the elections; Hillary has been removed from the people for so long, it is like she considers herself above the law.She is a seasoned liar and will not be as open as other previous administrations. However; Donald Trump has zero social constraint. I am Muslim; my parents are immigrants and I’m a girl- that should explain that. But he doesn’t believe in climate change; which will be disastrous. Another major issue is our foreign policy. Think about how many leaders around the world have denounced him; because of what he has said and done. And building a wall? To be honest; that wouldn’t solve anything. Most undocumented immigrants come into the country by plane and just never leave. A wall won’t really do much about that. Other issues that building the wall would bring- first; it would cost America so much money. Billions upon billions- the House would never agree to write up the national budget for that. It would go through rivers, and mountains and even people’s homes! We’re not really that rich. So the wall is a no go zone. But as commander in chief; he will have access to the nuclear codes and in five minutes, can blow up half the planet. Not being rude here; but seriously speaking; you can never give the nuclear codes to someone who is eager to use them. Just that, as it is, we need a tactful President- considering the political hot potato we are weathering.

@arinuma I have to pay lab fees and textbooks (which I found most of online for free anyway) but thats it. Im taking multivariable calc, calc based physics, general chem, and advanced english composition

I really didn’t want to get into an argument about politics, but the only I think I will say is that neither of the candidates are morally fit to be President, and we can’t hold moral shortcomings against any candidate. Therefore, I support the candidate whose policies line up with my vision for America. And according to my conservative values, Trump fits the bill. Not to add I would not like to elect a suspected criminal, that will most likely be indicted, and go to jail.

Just want to point out that we are not allowed to directly discuss politics outside the context of college. It’s against the CC [terms of service](https://auth.collegeconfidential.com/module.php/hobsonspolicies/policy.php?policy=tos). I’m not in the mood to argue anymore about liberal vs. conservative things. The ability to argue has been drained out of me because I want it to be 2020 already, this election makes me angry in so many ways, and I realize some people find those that disagree with them to just be ‘brainwashed’ making any response a waste of energy.

@snowfairy137 I’m taking Calc 1, Inorganic Chem, American Gov and English Comp. (Not their names; but best equivalency). How many credits at the most can you take?
@Hamlon Funny thing is that we were discussing that in my class! It’s called cognitive dissonance- and you basically base your argument off on what you want to believe and erase the rest of it. Also, respect! You are one very relaxed and calm person.

We should just stop talking about this; because we’re a bunch of diverse people with differing points of views. Last thing I want is to alienate someone who has really good ideas because of personal beliefs. Also, I don’t want to get suspended.

I wonder how many of the original forum founders still appear on this forum? :-/

15 credits per quarter (about 3 classes a quarter, 9 a year). I’m paying for the 4th.

I need to vent. My stress levels are through the roof. So, precalc…I worked on a project for 4 hours today and it turned out terribly. I swear the more work I put into something the worse it is. And AP Stats. My quiz grades keep dropping, so I have a borderline A- now. That’s not bad, but my final is a pretty significant part of my grade so it’s not comforting that if I don’t do well my GPA will end up going down. Then there’s Poli Sci in which I’m behind in by two chapters of reading, not to mention that I haven’t studied at all for the exam next week. I also have an overdue exam and lab in AP Bio. Then AP Lang is annoying, and German is annoying, and last but not least, AP Comp Sci makes me want to set fire to something. I can’t figure out this program, and my teacher isn’t the most helpful person in the world, and y’all I’m dying. I don’t mean to be a complainer, but I figured it’d be best not to internalize everything. Which reminds me, if you’re as stressed as I am, don’t feel like you have to handle it on your own! Let’s die inside together.

AP Chem is going to be the death of me. My AP Lang teacher is insanely harsh, and the highest score on her essays was a 5/9. APUSH is a constant flood of busywork and useless projects. I’m drowning, and in real life, I can’t even swim. Help

18 credits a semester
@Kelvin82 @neptuna I get it- the thing is my high school barely has anything so everything that comes out of it, I want to have something to do with it. Like grades, tbh, I don’t mind I can fix them, but ECS!!! I don’t have enough of them because I used to live abroad and I only got to do Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award and I can’t even finish that here, not for a while at least! I’m on edge- it’s gotten to the point my high school teachers seem to be freaked for me! By the way; anyone headed for a summer program this year?
