I was so anxious yesterday that I couldn’t finish my AP Lang speech. Now that the whole thing is over, I can breathe.
@ak2018 I was thinking of taking the January SAT as practice for my school’s April testing date but I wasn’t so sure, especially that my first semester date ends the same week.
I've talked to the VASTS program coordinator and he said that unfortunately, those who did not indicate which program they most prefer before the application deadline will be put in the program that needs more students, in this case: the VESSS program. So, at this point, VASTS will not be an option this year. However, I'm not too sad. Due to the lower amount of students in VESSS, competition in the class will be low and my chances of getting into the summer academy will be high. Also, I will be earning 4 college credits with successful completion of the class. They said that they might open the VASTS program to 12th graders next year so no one will miss out.
My school has parterned with a company to have free mock SATs and ACTs session. I've signed up for one SAT session and one ACT session, both are on Saturdays in January. I'm not planning on prepping and am mainly using it to determine which test is truly right for me and to get a good feel of both tests.
Question: Do you guys think taking the college class (in Earth Science Systems) will make my college app more competitive, even though it’s not really close to what I plan to major in?
@ak2018 I’m kind of procrastinating signing up for the SAT… I feel like I’m going to wait until I find out what I got on the PSAT to see what I need to study and how long I need to study haha
But do you guys need to do community service hours for anything? I have to ge 20 hours for NHS by June 1, and I need 100 hours for HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program) by sometime in July, mostly to be considered for a college scholarship. Thankfully, the HOBY hours can be hours that I used for NHS, so it’s not too bad.
@ak2018 I’m taking it on December, since I took it in October and didn’t do so well. Personally I don’t wanna wait until March, I’d just rather get it over with.
I’m taking the ACT either April 8th or June 10th. I would prefer June 10th because I get out of school on May 26th and that way I’d have two weeks to just study and not get stressed. My state actually pays for the ACT if you take it during the 2nd semester of your junior year, so the only way I’m taking it April 8th is if June 10th doesn’t count as 2nd semester for some reason.
@Marg532 Yeah, I’m just going to wait until my PSAT scores come in. If I somehow score a 1200 or above, I’ll likely won’t do any studying. If I’m at 1100, I’ll do some moderate studying.
I homestly haven’t done anything community service-related since this summer.
I’m taking the SAT in April, because that’s when my school pays for juniors to take it. If my math PSAT score isn’t good, I’m going to take a math prep class. I’m hoping for a 700+/600+ RW/M, hopefully I hit the mark the first time, and don’t have to spend money on taking it again.
The quarter ended today, but grades are actually due on Monday for the teachers, so I don’t know my official grades yet. I’m fairly optimistic that I’ll be satisfied, though!
My school won some kind of contest, so a singer is coming to my school for a concert on Monday. That means the school day will be shorter!
I’m taking the SAT in January, and if that doesn’t go well, then again in March. Crossing fingers that it will go well, though. @LeopardFire wow, that sounds neat
Well my dad just said that I was wasting my time applying to summer programs and that I was not allowed to go anywhere or do any program this summer, so that’s kinda odd, considering he’s the one who introduced me to the idea. Hopefully this was just some sort of exaggeration, cause that would really throw off my plans for the summer.
