@frazzledazzle How does that work? I don’t think you can apply to more than one SCEA although sometimes the SCEA might allow you to apply early for scholarship deadlines and in-state public schools.
Yeah, that’d be a breach of contract to all schools involved- a real legal conundrum! @frazzledazzle
@Soccer1235 @OMPursuit I don’t know, honestly. I would have to look into it more. Being able to do such a thing would really ease things for myself and my family. It would be better being able to spread my applications out between early and regular application periods. Doing that would ease the financial burden of applying for college (so I’m not paying for as many schools at once during regular decision) along with the stress of apps and the time involved. In all seriousness, I don’t know. I know it’s not the best or most just thing to do if it’s possible.
I know that SCEA only allows you to apply early to that one school unless another school requires an earlier scholarship priority or if you want to apply early to an in-state public. EA has no bounds, so you can apply to all the normal EA you want. ED I don’t think has bounds except for that if you are accepted you must withdraw all applications and commit to that school unless you absolutely cannot afford the financial aid packet they give you with your admission.
How do you guys find your PSAT scores with Naviance? I can’t seem to find them under “test scores”
@mirandaf Your guidance counselor has to choose to release them on Naviance. But they definitely have the scores so it’s probably better for you to go by their office and ask.
Also, SHOUT OUT TO MY COLLEGE COUNSELOR FOR RELEASING THEM SO EARLY. I would have died waiting for them next Thursday since it’s finals week for me haha
I got a 1490 with a SI of 221!!! My state’s cutoff was 214 last year so I think I’m definitely in. Super psyched especially since I was so worried about this PSAT. I was so burnt out after studying for the October SAT that I basically didn’t do anything involving standardized tests for the two weeks leading up to it, so this comes as a major relief. Last year, I scored a 1480, and I could have probably done better with more prep this year, but tbh it doesn’t matter as long as you make the cutoff
Half tuition scholarships at USC and URochester HERE I COME!
@oPhilippos Thanks! I was in her office today and didn’t even think to ask. I don’t want to go again so I think I’ll just wait til Monday.
Btw congratulations!
@mirandaf its possible your school hasn’t inputted the scores yet,
@frazzledazzle Why not set the money aside when you would apply for SCEA, then save it for RD applications?
I can’t see the financial benefit… o.o
But that doesn’t mean it’s not there?
Nor does it mean the technique is legal.
I got a 1450 on my PSAT and my SI is a 216. I live in Georgia, who’s cut off last year was 218… I guess I shouldn’t hope to qualify, right?
My cutoff is approx. 208-212. How can I tell from my PSAT score if I make it or not?
@droporain How much is your score?
Take (English*2)/10 + Math/10
That’s your NMI

Looking at U of Arizona for their NM scholarship… not my first choice but at least its close to my cousins and has decent engineering and is close to NASA.
@snowfairy137 I like U of Arizona a lot as well! I think I’ve told you this before, but I love the school for the space/astronomy and planetary science programs! It’s awesome that the school isn’t too far away from JPL and has connections to NASA and many wonderful astronomical observatories.
My guidance counselor only gave me a sticky note with my r&w and math scores, not my full-blown score sheet. I’ll probably go get it during my study hall, but my day’s weird tomorrow. I am only at school for 4 classes (3 at the beginning of the day and 1 at the end) because I have to play and march in the Pearl Harbor Day ceremonies downtown in my town. There’s a parade this year because it’s the 75th. I don’t want to be outside for a few hours in 30 degree weather, although it is for a very good reason.
Weather could be a big issue with U of Arizona tbh. I’m from Vegas and I’ve been to Arizona a bunch of times, sometimes in the summer and a few times in the spring. The weather is not fun. You just feel so gross every time you take a walk/drive lmao (it gets even hotter than Vegas). Otherwise, it’s a very good school haha I know quite a few people that go there except I hear the area sucks since there’s absolutely nothing to do lol
True. Apperently Tucson is higher up than say, Phoenix tho, and I wouldn’t be there in the summer… So? Idk
@bubblylaugh I’d go with Schedule #3, but Schedule #1 seems pretty good.
I’m probably already doing too much, but I think I just might be joining the regional science fair. This one freshman and I were thinking about doing it. I’m going to get some papers from the science fair coordinator at our school tomorrow morning. I’m planning on doing research on a topic related to my AP Chemistry or online Physical Geology class. I’m not expecting to win as our county’s STEM governor’s school wins every year in the high school category.
So far, I thought about the topic of doing research on how vulnerable our planet would be without its ozone layer. Anymore ideas?
@oPhilippos It would be a nice change from living in Maine. The only time it’s mildly warm is during July and August and even then it rarely gets above 90 degrees.
