High School Class of 2018

@snowfairy137 See in the midterm there was only one proof, but on Wednesday, 4/11 questions were proofs, which really upset me :frowning: I like application. I only took a semester of multivariable differential calculus and will probably take the next class (multivariable integral) fall of next year.

@LeopardFire We learned about The Birth of a Nation and the KKK today in my APUSH class. What a coincidence!

For those who don’t believe how close we are to getting in the game (the college admissions process), I was just reminded by my dad as well as an Instagram post that I will be receiving my GMU Early Action Admissions Decision one year from yesterday.

Just think, my first college decision will be emailed to me a year from yesterday. GMU’s EA decision will be my earliest decision, with UVA EA decisions usually out by January 31st.

The Instagram post was a picture of one of my senior friend’s GMU e-mail acceptance. I’m so proud of him, especially since he just finished writing his novel (yes, he actually wrote a novel).

@soccer1235 the only proof like thing we had on a test was we had to prove the derivate of a (dot) b (vectors) can be solved with the product rule. It wasn’t hard because he went over it in class before and its not a hard proof at all.

OMG, so I know I’m probably going to get a lot of replies but, who’s used Kahoot before? We literally use Kahoot in most of my non-AP classes. It’s apparently starting to become a meme now! :))

@ak2018 never heard of it. But than again, I’m taking only college classes now lol.

@ak2018 Kahoot is a staple even in my AP Classes. Best part of the day when we do them

@snowfairy137 What a coincidence! That’s what I had to prove on my midterm! My class was online so we had a conference once a week, but I was so very bad at pacing myself that I didn’t actually comprehend the material until two days before the exam

@soccer1235 really? that’s a huge coincidence considering all the options for proofs to test people on. Online classes are hard, I’m glad I took my class in person, my teacher was super nice and helpful (even though I missed like one class a week)

@snowfairy137 The good thing of taking that online class is that there were only two grades in the course (midterm and final) so then I get to experience the high-stakes tests that college courses have to offer. I wanted to do College-Credit plus which would have allowed me to take it in person, but I decided I wanted to take this class too late, so I had to do it online instead and not through my school, which made it kinda expensive.

@Soccer1235 Idk if its just the specific colleges I’m going to, but all the college classes I’ve taken so far have had 4-5 unit tests and a final that’s worth like 30ish% of our grade. Obviously homework and other stuff is given a lot less weight than in high school but I haven’t found it quite that cut throat.

@snowfairy137 Oh! well this course had only two grades, which is making me really nervous about my grade for that last test. I’d rather have that than this lol

@snowfairy137 It’s a much better version of a Jeopardy review game. You’re asked questions and you have to answer them correctly and as quickly as you can. If you tap the wrong answer, you’re screwed. The top 5 teams or students earn a spot on the leadearboard. It can be played on any device. It can get quite competitive real quick.

@kristennl99 We played on Monday during my U.S. History class and I got 1st place. We played another one and I got 4th place. I was pretty salty about that one. :))

@ak2018 My health teacher freshman year used it all the time, and we did a bit in AP Bio last year, but none of my other teachers use it. My Spanish teacher does Quizlet Live though, which is kinda like Kahoot but in groups.

@Soccer1235 You changed your profile pic! Is Smith your favorite doctor?

@Soccer1235 I literally hate Quizlet Live, it seems like the knock-off version of Kahoot. At least Kahoot has good game lobby music!. :))

@snowfairy137 He’s definitely my favorite doctor!

@Soccer1235 You might appreciate this story.

So last year, our principal dressed up as Doctor Who as part of a deal in which we had to reach a certain book-reading goal. The art department decided to build a cardboard Tartus to actual go with our principal’s costume. The Tartus is still in the library and sometimes I actually go in it and read their for a bit. It’s pretty cool. The year before that, our principal kissed a pig.

Do you mean TARDIS?

Time and Relative Dimension in Space?

@snowfairy137 Yeah Smith is my favorite doctor. I like Capaldi and Tennant and Eccleston and the bit of Tom Baker that I have seen (lol I like them all), but Smith has this quirky and fun bit to him. I just wish that he had more time with Clara, but the Capaldi/Clara relationship was really awesome.
@ak2018 Did he have a bowtie? or a long coat? or a velvet suit? Which doctor did he dress up as?
