My college list right now is SUNYs Fredonia, Brockport, Geneseo, and Potsdam, Simmons College, Kent State University, Robert Morris University, and Cedar Crest College. Simmons, Cedar Crest, and Robert Morris waive their app fees if you apply online, so overall I would only have to pay $145 for my SUNYs and Kent State.
@Lisa M This is my first time and the next time ill be able to take it is In May because I’m in Canada lol. But how did it go the previous time? Any advice and good luck.
Just learned my final mark in Computer Programming is 100. Teacher said I was the first person to get a hundred in his class in 10 years. Hooray
Also got 100/100 on both a Math test and a Canadian History test. I wonder if my marks will go up, therefore putting more pressure on me to get 100s on the exams next week…
I’m procrastinating sooo hard in writing two AP Lit essays that I have to hand in on Friday if I want to be able to redo them (if I don’t like the grade) by the end of the second marking period. Ugh!
College list is Yale, Georgetown, UofM (EA), MSU, and a couple of local schools. I don’t really have my hopes up for Yale since it’s a reach for everyone, but I thought I could take a shot and see where I end up.
@MberihYm I got a 1410 the last time I took it. I went to one prep class so it was pretty good considering. My advice is to bring a watch and pace yourself, because time flies especially during the math. Good luck to you too!
You’re allowed to bring a watch? On the PSAT, they made everyone take off their watch.
@PulseStar You are allowed to bring a watch, so long as it won’t be a distraction to others (i.e., loud and obnoxious beeping or ticking). Some proctors don’t allow watches in the testing room, but the College Board says it’s perfectly okay to have in the room.
Did anyone else get an email from the director of YSPA?
Our proctor made everyone take off their watches which made people mad. Fortunately there was a visible clock but it sucks to read that if you have bad eyesight.
Good luck to everyone taking the SAT tomorrow! I will be competing at my first winter guard competition ever, and it’s our home show! I’m super nervous, because I’m a rookie and I kinda actually suck haha but I will most likely be okay.
For everyone taking the SAT tomorrow, I’ll be right there with you trying not to make dumb mistakes Good luck!!
@Marg532 good luck at your competition!
So I just saw my grade for my latest Pre-Calc test and I literally want to cry! I did terribly! :(( :(( :((
I’ve talked to my teacher multiple times to try and figure out what I can do to do better on the tests and I’ve pretty much tried everything and I’m still failing them. At this point, I’m looking at a B or C+ for the semester. I just don’t know what else I can really do at this point. I’m just really shocked because I thought I was finally doing well and I actually studied for a good amount of time too. I haven’t had an A on a math test since the first unit, which was mainly review from Algebra 2. I literally had a 95% on that test, which was mainly non-calculator, and I thought I was actually in good shape for the year. Boy was I wrong! My test and quiz grades have been going downhill ever since. And apparently, we are my teacher’s worst section. Our scores are 10% lower than his other classes. I literally looked at the factors for why I passed the first test, other than the fact that it was mainly Algebra 2, and the only other factor was Khan Academy. It made everything I thought was complicated very easy.
So, at this point, here’s my plan, because I refuse to let Pre-Calc kick my proverbial ass. Starting Monday, I will be heading to the library everyday after school to study and to do my homework. We will also be starting our next unit our next unit on Monday as well. Since I don’t have any homework this weekend, I’m going to work on my online class and watch some Khan Academy to get help with what I didn’t do right on the last test and get ahead and the next unit. As for my extra-curriculars, I will be taking a definite hiatus from them until the next test (which is in about 3 weeks). I think that failing this test was the last straw for me. I hope I see better results soon! I tell you guys my progress over the next few weeks! Wish me luck!
@ak2018 Good luck with Pre-Calc. You will only get better with more practice. Try finding like a study buddy or just ask for help to make things more clear.
@ak2018 Do you struggle with the homework? If not you might just get nervous for the tests and panic and make stupid mistakes.
@java23 Thanks. I’m just planning on asking my teacher questions to things I still don’t understand.
@kassh4 I wouldn’t say I struggle with it, but I felt like I did it robotically without understanding why. What I mean by that is that I’m doing problem after problem correctly, but the reason they are correct isn’t sinking in. I did study over all of the concepts of the unit and re-did the homework as review for test, but one thing I didn’t do, which I think I should’ve, was redo the questions I got wrong on the quizzes to see if I get them wrong again and to figure out where my problem areas are. This unit was our first unit in Trig, so I felt really pressured to do well. Even still, my grades kept falling. I just hope that it isn’t too late to raise my grade up for the year.
@ak2018 I hope you can turn things around! I’m pretty terrible with Pre-Calc too, my test average is probably lower than a C…
I took my Pre-Calc and Financial Literacy midterms yesterday. I needed to ge a 68 on my Pre-Calc midterm to net an 80 for the semester. That shouldn’t have been hard to do, but I keep on second-guessing myself. :\
Anyone else taking midterms right now? This is what next week looks like for me:
Monday: H Latin III + Entrepreneurship (both solid A’s, no problems here)
Tuesday: AP Lang and APUSH (I have an 89.4 in AP Lang, gotta hustle there)
Wednesday: Chemistry (I have an 89, I don’t know if I can get a 94 on the midterm…)
I took the SAT this morning… the math and writing sections were so easy! For some reason, that hardest section is the reading one for me. I am confident I increased by a lot since the PSAT in October. All the preparation I did though was just practicing math questions. I am a math-oriented person, but my math PSAT score was lower than reading and writing so I thought I needed a brush up. It worked!
The English portion on the PSAT was my worst section. I’m not an English person.
@HelloThereHola I felt the same way about the test. Some dude took his test out of the room during the break. I told the proctor, but they didn’t do anything. The school I was at also decided it would be a good idea to install new cameras. For most of the test, all we could hear was loud drilling directly into the walls above, below, and next to our room. I’m glad I never took practice tests in quiet spaces (my house is always loud) or else I wouldn’t have been able to focus.
