I’ve been thinking and I really want to take a pottery/ceramics class, visit a candy or chocolate factory for a day, learn how to knit, and LASTLY, learn how to bartend and make drinks (in college, of course hehe)
Actually, i am going back to stressing. I have a dilemma: I still have not made a list of the school I want to apply to.
It makes me so sad when people ask me what school I want to go to and I say “I don’t know.” I should know and I should be confident about saying “Yale, or Stanford, or Brown,” but I can’t bring myself to say it. It’s so weird because i am overconfident but also super insecure. I have no idea and I’m sort of just going with the flow but I really need to start looking. Any thoughts, opinions, advice, etc? Thanks beautiful people
@snowfairy137 Exactly!! I’m always thinking “what if they think I’m way too overconfident and what if they don’t think I’ll be able to go there.” I get embarrassed and feel like it would be humiliating if I am all “Yale that, Yale this” and not get in.
@thejoe I would say to look at your GPA and your test scores and compare them to average GPA and test scores of certain schools. This can help you create a “reach and match” list. Do you have a major?
So I apparently have a second chance in Pre-Calc. I am able to redo three sections of the tests. It looks like I might just have a high B, B+ for the semester. Thank God! ^:)^ I’m still sticking to my plan since I can’t rely on retakes all my life. Also, Khan Academy is working like a charm. I knew almost everything in class today!
@thejoe I want to learn how to knit too! If I have money in college, some piano lessons woukd be cool. I weirdly want to learn how to pole dance. It seems fun.
Also, there’s a difference between knowing what you want and expecting it. People who know what they want have broader goals and if they fail, bounce back immediately.
AP Stat is one of the easier math AP. AP Calculus AB in senior year is easy if you are a math person but can be hard for ones without good foundation. I would suggest looking at your math scores so far to get a better idea.
@cprepster18 Definitely doable in my opinion. AP Stats just requires basic algebra and if you’ve done well in your math classes so far, AP Calc AB shouldn’t be too much of a struggle.
@thejoe I agree with @Hamlon that pole dancing seems fun, if I could ever get the strength and flexibility required for it. I would love to visit New York or Boston, I’ve gone to the Bronx Zoo several times but I really want to explore the whole city, and I haven’t gone to Boston since elementary school.
@acomfysofa That’s insane! Are all the APUSH prep books the same way?
Day two of midterms for me…
H Latin III was first, it was a bit hard, but my worry is better placed elsewhere-
Also had Entrepreneurship, I’m not worried at all there
My Pre-Calc semester grade is now an 84, increasing my midterm buffer by 4 points
Chem is at an 89, so if i get a 94 on the midterm I can raise to a 90, but my teacher still needs to put in a lab report that could either raise my semester grade to 90, meaning I would only need to get a 90 on the midterm for the A, or drop it to an 88, making it virtually impossible to raise grade from a B+
AP Lang and APUSH tomorrow, I have to do well on my AP Lang to raise my 89.4 to a 90 ahhhhhhh
Seeing all of you apply for summer programs makes me feel behind, but I’ll start focusing on that once midterms are over. orz
@LeopardFire The review books are cheaper (Barron’s/Princeton Review), but I’m not familiar with US History at all so I’m not sure if those are a sufficient replacement for something like AMSCO.
@Hamlon Ethel Wood is $70+/- on eBay and Amazon (as a Canadian). Princeton Review is $20, but would it be a suitable replacement for someone who is not at all familiar with US history? I am definitely interested in learning US history, as I found the minimal amount of US history taught in my Canadian history class to be interesting. I’ll be studying for the SAT US History test, and I’ll be taking it in 3 or 4 months.
Do you guys know about any ACT prep stuff that’s free? I’ve just started thinking about the ACT and I was wondering if there was anything like Khan Academy but for the ACT?
