High School Class of 2018

I applied to tasp! I have no chance of getting in though

Here’s my finalized schedule for next year!
AP Calc BC
AP Lit
AP Gov/Honors Econ(both are semester long courses)
AP Physics 1
AP Biology
Madrigals (Choir)

I’m so excited for tomorrow! My club is having our first all-member meeting! I’m kinda nervous though because I’m not the best presenter. Last year, I might have had a mini-mental break down…

@nova2017 I did

My Schedule:

Ap Lit
Ap Calc BC
AP Seminar
AP Econ
AP Bio
US Government
Computer Science AB

ya’ll posting your 2017-18 schedules and I haven’t even registered for spring quarter yet :)). At the college I’ve got different classes every quarter which is nice. So, to jump on the bandwagon, this spring I’m taking:

PHYS 153 - General Physics 3
PHIL 214 Doctor Who and Philosophy (Philosophical Voices and Popular Culture)
POLI 100 - Modern Government in America (online)
MENG 385 - Robotics
and MATH 259 Differential Equations (although I’ve already started that cause its at a different place and on a different schedule)

In my humble opinion this is the greatest schedule ever.

I have some great news:

I got a 90 on my Math quiz last week and yes @kassh4, you were right about checking work for simple mistakes.

I officially put my tentative schedule for next year into the PowerSchool, it looks like this:

PLTW Digital Electronics
AP Computer Science A
AP Physics C
U.S. Government/AP Gov
AP Calc AB
AP Economics
AP English Lit

I also got my semester grades which were two As, two B+, and 3 B’s.

We’re also writing a research paper in AP Lit. I’m writing about humanity on Mars.

Hey guys! My computer was down for a couple of days so I haven’t been able to check CC recently haha! I got my semester grades back and I’m 6th in my class of 90-100 students, which is one spot higher than I was at the end of sophomore year.
Also, I haven’t gotten in for scheduling yet, but this is my tentative schedule:

Applied Math
Infectious Diseases/Gym (A/B day)
AP Lang
French 4
Study Hall
AP Gov
Lunch
Vocal Jazz/Photography
Band/Chorus

What I hope my schedule to be:

AP Macro/AP US Gov. (One semester each)
AP Bio (Block class)
AP Calc AB (Also block class)
Astronomy Honors
Band 4 Honors

I’m trying to do dual enrollment at a community college for English.

So I learned that I have the option to get specific teachers to request me to be in their classes for next year. So far, I’ve taken advantage by asking my 10th grade English teacher, who also happens to be one of the AP English 12 teachers, to send a request to my guidance counselor. Hopefully she fulfills that request, she might not since she’s pretty old-school and technically teacher requests are rarely done because not many know about it. Either way, I have a 50-50 chance of getting the teacher I want for AP Lit.

Also, I found out something wonderful. So apparently, my county has a county-wide policy that states that if I pass-advanced an SOL, I get a 100% on the final. This would really help with my end of year grade in AP Lang, currently sitting at a B+, if I pass-advance my reading and writing SOLs this year. I’m also probably going to have to take my Pre-Calc final, which I’ll have to study for. The AP Chem final project, after the exam, will be about researching one of the top 100 most-prescribed medicines.

@ak2018 whats a SOL?

@solarsystem It’s our state-given final exam.

Hey guys! I just took another ACT practice test. Last weekend I scored a 27 (34E 25M 23R 27S) with little to no studying; this weekend, I scored a 31(35E 31M 32R 26S) with only a week of studying. I’m so happy my score improved so much (by 4 points) I hope that with one more week of studying before the actual test that I’ll be able to score around a 34.

good for you @angelwings0137

@angelwings0137 What sites/books are you using to study and take practice tests? I might register for the ACT but idk yet.

I just found out I actually got a 95 in my French class! I wasn’t aware of this policy, but my school gives out a 95 for A’ s in DC classes. I made a 91 in my DC class and thought my counselor made a mistake. Had I made an 89 though, my grade would have been bumped down to an 85.

@solarsystem I use the ACT’s official prep website. Just search online act prep. It should come up in google

Am I screwed if I only have 3 weeks to study for the SAT? It’s on March 1st–it’s an SAT School Day my state is requiring Juniors to participate in. I’m not looking to ace it because I wasn’t planning on taking it in the first place, but I’d at least like a 1260 to match my ACT score of 26.

@neptuna Nah, I’m in the same exact position as you are, only 3 weeks left for me also. You’ll be fine as long as you study throughout those 3 weeks

So I’ve decided to look for more engineering schools to apply to after some thought. Since I can’t rely on colleges to instantly give me some sort of leeway when I apply due to my GPA/SAT situation, I’ve decided to apply change my list a lot. At this point, this is where it stands:

Will Apply To: Virginia Tech, GMU, and JMU
Considering Applying To: Rochester Institute of Technology, Boston University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Carnegie Mellon, and potentially UMIch, even though my chances are slim.

I’m still looking for two more college to apply to. At this point, I’ve pretty much got rid of the MIT dream out of my head as well as UVA because I really can’t see attending there. I choose these colleges as I felt more confident about getting in as well trying to save my parent’s precious hard-earned money by applying to schools I’m more likely to get into. I also really want to go up North, in terms of schooling, so there’s that option. If I get into a school I don’t like, I’ll probably just try to transfer later.

Honestly, I can’t wait to finally be accepted to a certain college, work my butt off, potentially transfer, and not be weighed down by my stupid freshman year GPA

@ak2018 I think I remember you saying that you are a little over the income range for Questbridge so that means your family prob doesn’t have a high income. Anyways U Mich is OOS and a public school i wouldn’t expect much FA, for this reason I dont think it is very realistic you might have to reconsider it.

@kassh4 Actually, I said we’re a little under. About $5K under for a family of five.
