Sorry, I was just referring to the people who were saying “get off of cc” but I guess I wasn’t being much less rude by calling them out for it.
Anyone know when the Questbridge College Scholars app opens up they have the due date but cant seem to find the starting date. I see they have been updating stuff on the page tho.
@kassh4 I think they said mid-February on their Twitter account? Might be sooner though. I keep opening up my Questbridge account every couple of days hoping the app becomes available.
CA Prompts for our class are up!
@kassh4 Thanks!
3 looks a lot like one of the TASP essays, and I really like 6.
@Soccer1235 Yeah 6 looks really interesting
Lol those are so open-ended essay topics that the announcement is pretty much useless, especially considering the last option allows you to write about anything you want.
That wasn’t a shot at the person who posted that here, just at fact that they needed to be announced I guess
I’ve been out of school this week with a second round of the stomach flu in under two weeks :((
I don’t know if I should miss school again tomorrow, because I still feel awful and would have to stay up late to finish the homework, but I don’t want to miss yet another day. The indecision!!
I wonder if it would be frowned upon if I chose to write about Hamilton for #6…
Noooo, im not ready to actually face the reality that I will be applying to colleges in less than 6 months from now!!! :((
I will probably end up doing #5 or #6
Does anyone know how long it takes to read the entire American Pageant (specifically 15th edition)? Just ordered a used copy for only $20 !
I’m currently going through the AMSCO (up to the Age of Jefferson from complete nothing in just 1 week) and even though I’m completely able to understand the material in the book, I found that some of the practice questions for the SAT test and AP exam aren’t answerable with AMSCO as details to answer those are missing from the book. It’s understandable because it’s a prep book, but from the really positive-only reviews from here, I thought that was all I needed. Because of that, I bought the American Pageant. I hope that’s all I need, period!
@acomfysofa TBH i dont think reading the whole american pageant would be a great idea it is SUPER detailed like at a point it’s annoying and a waste of time we’ve been reading it all year and we are on page 700 something. Unless you really love history i dont think you’ll be able to finish by the AP test. Also did you look at the new AP exam format that has less details associated with it.
There is an outline that goes with the American pageant and has all the important details id recommend you just read that. If you want a link PM me.
@kassh4 Not who you responded to, but would you mind sending the link of that outline to me? I’m in APUSH and I could all the help I can get for the AP exam. ^^’
As for the essays, while we may have expected most of the prompts, it’s still surreal knowing they are out for our class. Now I can officially start procrastinating!
@kassh4 I actually saw that on r/ApplyingtoCollege, too. Most of the prompts have either not be changed or revised.
@kassh4 I’m actually only taking the SAT in US history and not the AP exam, but I looked at the AP exam practice MCs to see if my knowledge was good. I’m self-studying so I’m planning on spending a lot of my time learning from the textbook and taking down occasional notes instead of using that book to do assignments and study for tests, so wouldn’t that be faster than an actual APUSH class? I’ll be taking the SAT in a little less than 4 months, and I’m spending several hours every day to learn it.
The reason I’m reading the American Pageant is because I’m hoping everything I’ll need to know for US history will be in that book, unlike AMSCO. I could definitely answer without a problem all of the questions which AMSCO explained, but not the questions that AMSCO never explained. For example from the APUSH practice exam of Fall 2015, an explanation to the MC question “[George] Whitefield’s impact suggests that religious culture among British North American colonists in the 1700s was most directly shaped by” isn’t in AMSCO, but an explanation to the MC question “[George] Whitefield’s open-air preaching contributed most directly to which of the following trends?” is in AMSCO. For the Great Awakening section of the book in particular to George Whitefield, it essentially only said in a paragraph how George Whitefield spread the views of Jonathan Edward (with a view of people reading the Bible on their own) among all the colonies in huge gatherings, so it never specifically explained his impacts.
@acomfysofa aren’t you Canadian?
@snowfairy137 Yes, but the SAT for US History is offered here in Canada for some reason and history is a more interesting topic to me than the sciences. I chose it over World History because I’m already a little familiar with US history through my Canadian history class (and that nicer curve on the SAT). There’s also no problem with learning about our neighbors!
If there was a Canadian History SAT then I’d take that off the bat, but CollegeBoard is American so >:D<
