Also, I got to sit in the middle of an AP Physics C lecture during lunch and see what the class was like. The teacher even gave me a packet so I could follow along, barely. I actually understood some of it, so it was actually all good. They were doing Rotation Motion and Angular Momentum, which I remember from POE. She said I can come back again, so I’m basically an honorary student of the class. :))
Also I changed my schedule, again:
Summer: Earth Science
PLTW Digital Electronics
AP Computer Science A
AP Physics C
U.S. Gov
PLTW Civil Engineering and Architecture (Weighted)
AP Calculus AB
AP English Literature
Just got the American Pageant! It looks a lot easier to read than AMSCO, so I’m excited to read it
Also, there’s a sticker on it that says it came from the Northeast Mississippi Community College so it’s neat knowing I’m learning about US history at a college level!
I have 6/9 apps done! Two more are due on March 1st and the last one is due on March 31st. One program will begin sending decisions on March 1st, and although I’m gonna get rejected, I’m really excited lol
Forum post: Is x marketable?
Every single reply: All of my friends that majored in x are starving on the streets as we speak. They have never achieved a single job in their lives. Not even Wendy’s will hire them because the managers think they’re idiots for even choosing that major in the first place. If you decide to get a degree in x, prepare to let everyone you love down, and prepare to feel your self-esteem plummet once you find yourself taking up a career as a beggar instead. There is absolutely no hope with this major. Anyway, have you considered engineering?
I’ve essentially solidified what I’m going to take next year. I will most likely take AP BC Calculus, AP English Literature, AP French, AP Economics, and AP Chemistry.
The AP French is, as of now, up in the air, as I did not take French this year and I need to qualify for AP French by taking some test. I don’t have doubts about my ability to pass it, however.
I have my schedule for next year mostly finalized. This is it:
AP Calc AB (Block class)
AP Biology (Block class)
AP Macroeconomics/AP US Government
Band 4 Honors
Astronomy Honors
My main problem is that I need to take English and it doesn’t fit into my schedule. I’m not really willing to take off something from what I currently have up there. My only choices left is to take AP Lit online, which I really do not wanna do, or dual enroll it at my community college, which I do wanna do, but I have no way of getting there.
I found a lot of amazing and free college admissions podcasts/resources. A common theme is that essays are the most important part of your applications. Even those with the best stats turn in really crappy essays. Another thing is to reach out to people for opportunities. It’s cool to be president of a lot of clubs, but that isn’t really unique. Find an internship, work with a non-profit, or start your own hobby/project like drawing, DIY, or writing.

Admissions officers don’t really spend that much time on your application. You need to get to the point quickly on your essays. You have to come off as an interesting person, but what you write about doesn’t have to be out of the ordinary. Be wary about topics many people talk about like sports injuries, your grades/achievement(redundant), etc. or overshare without showing how you moved past a hurdle. Sob stories will gain you empathy, but don’t really tell them about who you are.
I just took another SAT and raised my score by 20 points from a 1210 to a 1230!
CRW: 620
Math: 610
So essentially, Math went down by 10 points, but CRW went up 20 points. If I keep this up, I just might get to a 1300 by June.
Keep in mind that I haven’t studied since the last time I took the test in January. I do plan to do a little studying next week up until the March 11th test.
r/Applyingtocollege is a great resource in general. There are tons of Adcoms on there and a lot of active members a lot more high schoolers going through the same things. Really Active also which is great. I would highly recommend it.
Decided to take the ACT instead of the SAT! Main reasons I’m doing so is because I heard the math questions are more straightforward than the SAT, and although they test more advanced concepts, weirdly-worded questions are more challenging to me than advanced questions. Also, how the essays are looks easier to me (ACT persuasive essay vs SAT “supporting” essay). So, I feel more confident that I can get a 32/33 or beyond on the ACT compared to a 1500+ on the SAT, which are the scores needed to have a shot at the schools I’m applying to. Lastly, I can take my SAT II US History in the same month as the ACT. And price-wise, the ACT is a little cheaper because there’s no international fee for Canadians!
@DaEmmJay23 Wondering if you or anyone else on here knew if AP Comp Sci Principles was a new AP class or just a variant of regular AP Comp Sci? It was on my scheduling sheet and I might just decide to take off AP Bio and replace it with that and AP Lit. Idk if that many kids at my school signed up for it though…
