High School Class of 2018

@ian1235 I just finished the first draft of mine last night. Seems pretty good in my opinion.

Guys what’s the max number of schools for Coalition app? I know Common App is 20, but I can’t find anything about coalition.

@Hamlon CONGRATS!!! You had to wait a week longer than most of us and I guess it was worth it :slight_smile:

@apraxiamom Thank you!
@oPhilippos It’s a huge relief! I still have to conquer subject tests though. X_X

@Hamlon
Congratulations!! What was your last score, and what did you use to improve?

@aspiringgirl I got a 33C my first time. Pretty much only used crack act .com , youtube, and google to raise my scores to 35’s in R/E/S and a 34 in M(still in shock at that one expected much lower).

I used old CC threads for science tips and a list of all the math topics (even obscure ones I barely even learned in school like law of cosines/sines, matrix determinant, vectors, etc.). Past threads also have examples of calculator programs you should probably download. Also, don’t use the ACT online prep. It sucks. I got it for free and didn’t even use it because it was so terribly designed. Probably won’t help anyone scoring above a 25-27.

Hey Guys! The last few days at NASA Langley have been both inspiring and tiring. I’ve gotten 5-6 hours of sleep each night since Sunday. We’ve been working real hard all week and as the team’s launch and orbital analyst, NASA Langley will be holding a mission debrief panel today at 2pm where we’ll be presenting our mission. Here’s the link for those who want to watch the live stream: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/nasa-lrc

Here’s the code fro the livestream to be able to view it: NNX15AQ03A

Heads up! Sonic has $.79 Transformers-themed slushies today.

@Hamlon The strawberry cheesecake milkshake is soooo good at Sonic. Plus half price after 8.

Sorry I haven’t been posting. Aerospace camp is crazy!

@kassh4 I posted about the slushies way too late lol. Also, I agree about the milkshakes!

This is kinda random but I’m really loving working in a lab this summer. For some reason I guess I seem like a very approachable/trustworthy person because the other grad students in the lab talk to me so much about all this gossip and drama and I’m LIVING for it. I’m never bored because it’s so entertaining lol

No sonic in MN! =((@oPhilippos YES THE DRAMA!

@arinuma We do have culver though! I love their custard.

@singingwriting First MN person I’ve found on CC- what’re you up to?

@arinuma I’m actually getting read y to go to work, I host 3 nights a week. How about you?

Anybody from MS?

Well the Aerospace thing was amazing. They call it Washington Aerospace Scholars but they told us today that is the same as the other NASA High School Aerospace Scholars programs in other states @ak2018. We got to visit Boeing’s factory in Everett which is the biggest building in the world by volume (all of Disneyland can fit inside of it) and we went on a special executive tour on the factory floor which usually you’re only allowed to do if you’re buying an airplane!!(public tours are conducted from a balcony above). I specifically did a lot with a autonomous Mars rover design for the future and I had to present my proposal to University of Washington aerospace faculty and grad students, one of whom actually worked on the Curiosity rover project. Also met a UW professor that literally invented reverse google image search and casually brought it up like it was no big deal.
Also, the people were all super awesome and smart and interesting and it was amazing. My group’s mentor is a Boeing engineer so whenever I need a letter of recommendation for like a job I’ve got an amazing connection. My group, although we didn’t “win” (there were circumstances out of our control) worked together the best out of the four teams. It was super fun to work in a group where everyone wanted to be there and contribute. My group was insanely productive; we literally would go back to the hotel and keep working until curfew but it was somehow fun.

Anyway, that’s probably a jumbled mess because I’m pretty sleep deprived but it was great.

So I just got back from the VESSS Summer Academy a few hours and I’m really missing it! I made A LOT of networking experiences and agree with many of the things @snowfairy137 mentioned. Sleep deprivation was the struggle for the last week! :)) Since I’m really tired right now, I’ll give you guys a summary of my experience soon.

I’m also heading out to Carnegie Mellon for SAMS later today! :smiley: Can’t wait to see @Hamlon I’m all packed and leave in less than 4 hours!

I’m also on the Thomas Nelson Community College Merit List for doing VESSS and the class, which is cool!
