@regionalatbest congrats! but also, I love your username lol
Just checked my score and honestly I am really excited about one of them and the other I am really disappointed.
Got a 3 on psych which I took online and didn’t answer one of the LEQ so I have no idea how I passed. On the other hand I got a 3 on APUSH which doesn’t make sense because on every practice exam I took I received a 5 and I felt that I wrote really great short answers along with my LEQ and DBQ. I guess the person who was grading my test didn’t like my writing…oh well.
Hi guys, probably the wrong place to ask this, but I know this thread is active. So I played volleyball my freshman and sophomore year, but they were JV or Varsity Levels. Should I even put this as one of my activities on the common app because I no longer play? and if i do, what category should it go under since there is only club athletics or jv/ varsity athletics in the common app? would i put it down as a “other” activity?
Put it down. Still shows dedication, leadership, etc.
hey guys, don’t forget to apply to some diversity programs for the fall! They’re pretty straight forward, I knocked out applications for two of them today.
Realized there was a typo in my last post. they WERE NOT jv or varsity, whoops
Woohoo, I just took SAT Practice Test #1 and I got a 1490 (710 Reading/Writing, 780 Math)! Reading has 11 questions wrong, writing has 2 questions wrong, math (no-calc) is perfect, math (calc) has 2 questions wrong.
That’s a LOOOOT better than I thought I’d get! Because I got a 27 on a previous practice ACT. Looking for a 1500+, and by the looks of it, I just need to improve reading and I have a high enough score :D!
@doctornc which two?
@doctornc What are diversity programs?
@xxluvforeverxx Diversity programs are programs that schools hold to basically fly you in to see what the school has to offer. Generally, they’re targeted towards URMs and lower income students who couldn’t otherwise visit. Most of their applications are due in a week actually.
George Washington University and Swarthmore! @kassh4
@xxluvforeverxx what @oPhilippos said! I have a link to a website that has lots of them listed, if you’re interested.
@doctornc Hi! I know that the offer wasn’t directed at me, but I would be interested in the website!
http://blog.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/blog/college-fly-in-diversity-programs/ - for anyone who is interested!
Good luck with your applications @doctornc!
I originally was going to apply to 4+ programs but I realized I’m not really interested in those schools. Williams is too isolated for me. I wouldn’t qualify for financial aid at Amherst. Lewis and Clark and Swarthmore don’t seem like strong fits for me. However, I am visiting Fordham, Yale, Harvard, and Northeastern next week before we drive to Ithaca! Luckily my parents had a lot of rewards points to use on hotels and a rental car. And I’ve been to four UC’s over the years for filed trips or to pick up family members. I’m waiting for ASU to send information about campus visits for National Merit/NHRP students. That will probably be the only other official visiting program I’ll be applying to. Then I will have visited every school on my list!
What majors are you all going to apply as? Or will you be applying Undecided?
Right now I’m leaning toward Environmental Policy/Environmental Science. My upcoming engineering camps may push me toward Environmental Engineering but I’m really worried about the requirements for subject tests and the competition when applying to engineering schools… I got a 5 on AP Calc and a 650 (34th percentile lol) on Math II. get you a girl who can do both :-q
Ahhh I’m so stressed about my summer homework, colleges apps, ACT, and subject tests! It feels like I haven’t even made a dent in the pile of work I need to do.
Thank you, @dietcig ! That is so kind of you. Northeastern is definitely on my list, along with BU, BC, and Tufts. I love the Boston area. Definitely UMass Amherst as well. I so wish I was a Massachusetts resident! Which state are you all from?
I wish the June SAT scores would come out already, I need some motivation to start studying for the August SAT lol
@doctornc Yea I took the subject tests in June, and I am not very confident in them. I really hate waiting over a month to get scores back. Like wtf takes them so long.
@kassh4 which subject tests did you take? I wouldn’t worry about the scores too much unless the schools you’re applying to “highly recommend” them lol
Goodluck to you guys ^^
Update: School closes in 3 weeks. Haha. Well, exams end in 2, then I’m off for the math showdown of my life. Talk about stress overload.
*Really wish I could get started on those essays.
@doctornc I took Math 2 and Chem. A lot of my schools require/recommend them. Subject tests are the last quantitative thing on my app, so I am ready to be done with all this testing for a while.
Edit: forgot that I might have to take SAT 2 Spanish to get waived out of language requirements.
