Finally my schedule was posted on Powerschools! The bad thing is that most people are not happy with their schedules. I mean people are missing 4 classes that they signed up for and instead have random classes that they didn’t even put as their backup. The first week is going to be super hectic because of this.
But anyways here’s my schedule. My school has an A/B schedule where each class is an hour and a half.
A Day:
1- Economics Honors
3- Peer Counseling
5- AICE Travel and Tourism(this will most likely be replaced with dance and I’ll take another science course)
7- Executive Internship
B Day:
2- AICE Environmental Management
4- Jouralism 1 - Newspaper( this is where they messed up instead of giving me dance. I’ll replace this period with a science course like AICE Marine Science).
6- AICE English Language A Level
8- AP Calculus BC
Overall I’m happy that my schedule wasn’t screwed up to the extent of other people but I’m worried I’ll have to rescontruct it more than I want to.
Hey guys I need your help. So one of my classmates sold me a keyboard instrument yesterday for $40 and silly me, I didn’t test it out because I trusted her. Well that night I plugged it in and turned it on but the keyboard was broken! I messaged her on Facebook immediately, but she said “lol too late”. I asked her for a refund and she said she spent it all on gas so no. Then I said I was pretty mad and wanted her to at least trade the broken one out for her other keyboard. She said yeah sure. Now I’m trying to get her to agree to a time and place to meet to trade and I would be able to accommodate to her schedule. But suddenly she has absolutely no time to meet with me. What do I do now? What can I say to make her trade broken keyboard for her working one?
I start school tomorrow! It’s at the local community college so I’m not super worried because I’ve heard it’s easier than the high school. But a little worried because ya know senior year and everything.
@Hamlon I wouldn’t worry about your WGPA really it is not that important. If you can take the class and have your rank still be in the top 10%, I would take it. Plus if you don’t have a 4.0 getting a free 100 will bring your UW up which is much more important.
@ak2018 I applied today for the Youth Advisory Council after seeing your post. The deadline already passed so I don’t know if they will accept it but it was worth a shot.
@carmen00 I’ve only been to two concerts this year but I also went to two festivals hosted by radio stations. I had two more concerts planned but Young the Giant got rescheduled and now I won’t be able to make it :(( I just checked setlist.fm and I’ve seen over 20 artists in this year alone?! And 48 different artists overall. My goal is at least 100.
general psa: Foster the People and Cage the Elephant are both REALLY good live.
I was supposed to read four books for AP Lit…My new plan is to read Antigone, as much as I can of the mythology one, and sparknote the other two until I read them later for our essays. We aren’t being tested on the mythology one until the second week of school so I will have an extra weekend to cram.
I’m trying to apply to scholarships but I get so stressed out when I start researching them. I think I need to get college apps out of the way first so I will calm down more. I do have the essays from my summer programs so at least I have some things written down.
I would just like to announce that I have submitted my first college application to Widener University’s Robotics Engineering program! This is such a weird milestone, but a great one indeed.
My Matriculate adviser edited my UPitt essays and it looks like I’m submitted the application by the end of tomorrow. I feel so productive right now.
Where are you guys on essay, BTW? I’m currently in the middle of writing my JHU Home essay and plan to redraft my entire Common App essay later this week. I felt like my original topic was not really unique and I was trying to throw in as much information as I could. My new topic focuses on the NASA summer academy I went to. Robotics will still be mentioned in my app via recommendation. I actually heard from CMU admissions that it’s best to try and demonstrate as many sides of you as possible so that’s what I’m going for here.
@acomfysofa The essay is probably one of the most important components of your application; most elite schools (HYPS) dedicate a lot of time to your essay, since it’s the main distinguishing factor between you and the rest of the academical qualified students applying.
@dietcig dude two of my friends went to go see young the giant on friday and i wish i could’ve gone so much lmao but tickets were like 50 dollars so i decided to save my money (sucks because i love cold war kids too). super hyped for catfish and the bottlemen next month though. I got those tickets for 10 dollars in like a special pre sale and i’m still so shook on what a good deal that was
@kassh4 Well, at least the essays that we describe our very important and significant life experiences in and will have a major influence on the next 4 years of our lives will get 3 more minutes of consideration
@oPhilippos I got special presale tickets for Young the Giant so they were only $20. I’ve been trying to see them for years but something always goes wrong. I’m hoping for they will play a Christmas show nearby before they stop touring for this album cycle. I’m seeing catb next month too! They’re opening for Green Day. I’m really excited because now they have more songs to play. When I saw them a couple years ago it was the fastest concert ever since The Ride isn’t a long album.
@cliffnotes same. I didn’t study for SAT Literature and I got a 650. I’m not planning to send my score to schools or retake it since I score higher for reading on the SAT I. Study literature vocabulary terms and any notes you have about analyzing poetry. It’s only difficult because you have to interpret a passage the same way College Board does.
@cliffnotes I took it without studying and without going through AP Lit, I got a 730. It’s not that hard and similar to the SAT reading in a way (although I didn’t really study for that either :\ ). I’d just get used to reading poetry and practice critical thinking, it’s essential to really break down the passage.
I’m also on my 4th* rewrite on my college essay I keep editing it, hating it, then starting a completely new essay. Hopefully I’ll settle down soon
