High School Class of 2018

@frazzledazzle wait 17 ? how lol

@Barekk Caltech, MIT, Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton. There’s some overlap for the prompts so copy paste will be my best friend.

I feel this so much. First honors all throughout highschool, and this quarter I am def gonna have second honors because my two classes are teetering at an 87 and 89, and I have studied and tried so much to bring up my grade, and nothing and I am losing motivation to even keep trying. Senoritis is so real I HATE IT.

Anyone apply ED to villanova??? I sure did, and I keep checking my status page thinking it will change and I still have a whole month and a half till decisions are sent. UGH

Nope, this is so me. I finished all my apps early october and I’ve already been accepted to 5 out of my 12 schools and everyone is asking me about it. It’s a good feeling not having to stress, but I feel like I’m putting my stress on everyone else to apply because I applied soooo early, but most of my schools are rolling admission and early action. It’s just gonna suck hearing other people get accepted to schools I haven’t heard back from yet. Only school I really care about is Villanova since I applied ED there!

Also… did anyone apply to UNC Charlotte and submit an application for their Levine Scholarship???

literally me with villanova! I was half asleep and my mom comes running into my room with a letter from villanova and i’m half sleep opening it and then I realize what it was and i start freaking out cuz idk what it is and then it’s freaking info on the CSS profile and financial aid, slap to the face considering I didn’t start it (no worries I finished it)

@MNgurl101 hey I applied to Alabama’s honors college and I never heard anything back-- did you get a letter in the mail?

@nyuhopeful44 I got my honors acceptance through my alabama email.

@senioritis release me

the @senioritis page defies the laws of time and space; it can never be evaded

So GMU extended their EA deadline which means I could have technically slept that night, but at least I got it done! :(( Lol, one of my friends literally submitted her GMU app through Common App at 11:59pm (@me) :))

In other news, my end of 1st quarter grades are actually pretty okay! I just need to work harder 2nd quarter to make sure everything averages out. My guidance counselor just sent my transcripts for Widener, JMU, and GMU, even though I requested them weeks ago, so I’m expecting my first acceptance sometime this month. I also dropped AP Psych because my grade was low and I just didn’t have the time for it. I’m replacing it with a non-credit teacher aide position to one of my favorite teachers, but he said he’s not gonna have anything for me to do. s

My NASA Aerospace class starts next month and I’m so excited to begin! I just submitted all of my forms to get the college credit in MEC 100 - Intro to Engineering. It’s ironically the only engineering class I have this year.

In terms of recommendation letters, I have gotten two from both my 8th grade science teacher, who knows me quite well, and the NASA programs coordinator. Now that the quarter has ended, I have a 4-day weekend too! My to-do list includes: finishing my personal statement, writing my VT essays, organizing myself, reading Great Expectations, and filling out scholarship apps!

Also, not gonna lie, I’m surprised @Hamlon hasn’t been accepted to a college yet! I thought she was gonna be the first of us too. :))

@ak2018 I was automatically admitted to UT Austin a while back. Thanks for the nice message!

Have my Harvard interview next, highkey freaking out!

Yes, I’m so scared for interviews! Does anyone have general advice? I’m usually a quiet/reserved person irl so I’m very nervous…

@ak2018 I probably took that class last year!

what a stressful month already! submitted 9 EA apps and got into 1 of them so far. fingers crossed for VT :slight_smile: I’ll find out if I got in on Nov. 11.

@agentaquastar I try to do a little bit of research on whoever is interviewing me so that I don’t feel like I’m talking to a total stranger. Check LinkedIn. Expect the interview to be like an extended conversation. You should use it as an opportunity to ask questions that aren’t all that obvious from the college’s website/social media. To get rid of nerves, I make a list of certain points I would like to make and rehearse them. Don’t use it as a crutch though. Try to get to the interview at a minimum of 15 mins early.

@Hamlon thank you!!

@doctormc You applied to Virginia Tech?! So am I!! I’m planning on finishing my essays by the middle of the month. You’re planning on going to the VT Day for Prospective Black Students next week? I wanted to go, but my parents are busy that day.
