High School Class of 2018

@Barekk Hmmm, I haven’t gotten any e-mails like that. Skidmore has contacted me the least after I applied out of all of my schools. It makes me feel uneasy.

@sciencenerd123 I applied for Actuarial Mathematics.
I don’t have the GroupMe app sadly but I could get it to join the group.

@katebnotkatie You can just use it on the computer!

Lol also guys I legit just waited an hour for an interview and my interviewer never came so that’s great!

@sciencenerd123 ugh I HATE when interviewers are late, I did two for Washington and Lee and Case Western Reserve and both times the interviewer was more than a half hour late. Fortunately I cleared my schedule for the afternoons I did the interviews so I didn’t miss anything important.

@sciencenerd123 Haha, I didn’t even know that was an option. I hardly know anything about GroupMe but I’ve been thrown into the occasional chat and would get text messages on my phone.

My best friend just got into Northeastern (her dream school) and we just cried together on the phone. I love these moments

Yep, the senior superlatives at our school are also turning into a popularity contest. I’m on the student government, and to make it interesting I suggested “most likely to go to space” I got outvoted, and we had to use “has the best cars”
@writergirl0316

The senior superlatives at my school are almost always leaning towards popularity contests, but there’s always the “most musical” superlative which probably won’t go to me anyway.

Also thank you to everyone who has been posting advice for me! I appreciate it so much because when I talk to anyone else in my life it either goes the way of “oh well I have it super bad too,” “I don’t have any advice but that sooo sucks” or my parents who go “wow college is so expensive these days I wonder how you’re going to afford it.”

I’m applying to a bunch of scholarships right now, and I’m trying to apply to a bunch of local scholarships too because I feel I have a higher chance of getting those ones versus, say, the NHS scholarship or another national one like that. I’ve got a fastweb account too and I’ve been scouring the ones that I feel I have a good chance at (aka none of the lottery system ones because everyone does those and it’s basically like literally winning the lottery). I’ve done the FAFSA (and unfortunately just barely don’t qualify for Pell which sucks), the CSS for the one college that needed it (looking at you, Emerson, for freaking me out because the CSS profile is so buggy smh), and my state aid system (for if I end up going to school in state).

I would say my school’s is like a popularity contest too. “best eyes” “best hair” etc. etc. I’m honestly surprised I got “most likely to succeed” since I don’t really know/speak to very many people from my grade besides a close group of friends

Dang that thread about senior prom is stressing me out

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve been on here but the state of Florida extended their Bright Futures scholarship program to be 100% tuition+300 dollars for top recipients, so I’m going to an in-state university(FIU). My out of state option(UTD) was affordable but when I factored in other costs such as flying home or taking a train, staying an hour away from home and staying in dorms is more affordable. I’m pretty excited because not many people in my graduating class of 224 people are going there so I’m going to be making completely new friends from scratch.

Senioritis is hitting me hard.

@nephilim Same! I’m two weeks behind in the reading for one of my classes (with a test in less than two weeks). I have to learn the entirety of the history of american foreign policy by then. Yikes.

So… I’m going to the Eagles parade tomorrow! I never thought this day would come so soon. I love this city, this team, and this fanbase more than anything else. I can’t wait to see some of the guys who have stuck with our team through it all. I’m totally gonna geek out over Merrill Reese since I see him as such an important part of this team.

My dream school has always been USC, but I think I want to move to Philly after college and maybe do an internship or two there during college. This is all if I get the full tuition scholarship at USC because if not I’ll go to Temple. Obviously my plan is subject to change but I love both cities for completely different reasons, and I want to experience living in both.

I got the Regents scholarship at UNM! It’s essentially a full ride (may not cover all of books or a parking pass, but it covers everything else). I get to live on campus! (Although my parents expect me to come home semi-frequently since I live within commuting distance.)

ughhhh the men’s downhill had to be postponed and I am sad now

I just realized that Emerson is going to be one of those colleges who are like “oh wow you’re getting a couple private scholarships? Lets just take that amount out of your financial aid package :)” when I got an email saying I had to provide additional financial aid documentation and seeing its a list of what private scholarships I’ve received and how much they’re worth (or a checkbox that says you haven’t received any scholarships, with the stipulation of updating them with any scholarships you do receive). I get it from a “college making money” standpoint but from a “potential college student struggling to breathe bc of financial stress” standpoint it’s just kinda really annoying/frustrating.
I did however mark on the CSS Profile that my parents will be contributing nothing to my college education so I hope that helps…

got into my first college besides my safety that I was admitted to in september! although I do love my safety, I just haven’t been used to getting good news LOL

i hope it’s a sign of good news to come! i haven’t been rejected from undergrad anywhere YET but i was rejected by 2 med programs, 1 scholarship program, deferred EA from a school…so getting an acceptance was a breath of fresh air!

i hope everyone is thriving this senior year! i’ve been binge watching netflix shows for the past few days

Weird question…
My friend just told me she’s going out to lunch with one of her teachers who wrote a rec for her (not in a weird way lol). Just wondering, was anyone else this chummy with the teachers they got recs from? I mean they can’t be THAT important right?
