High School Class of 2018

It’s raining where I am too @Madeline25 I thinking it’s raining almost everywhere on the east coast.I’ve honestly been sick and bored these past few days. I’m not as productive as I thought I would have been during the break. And do you live on a farm? How it is? The closest farm I live near to is a bunny farm.

And I also don’t do well with a lot of free. Heck, you can lock me up in my room until the end of break and I’d still do my homework at the last minute. I really need some motivation.

Also to everyone celebrating Christmas:

I couldn’t resist lol

^^^ lol

Quick Question: What do you guys plan on majoring in in college?

I plan on majoring in Mechanical Engineering!

Lol @tonyk16 This is probably happening in some alternate universe right now.

@ak2018 Mathematics with a minor in history, maybe. I really need to start talking to my guidance counselor about this kind of stuff because I need some “guidance” lol. Anymore memes?

@ak2018 I think maybe Computer Science??? I like art, film, law, and computer science and compsci seems to be the best option

@ak2018 I wish I lived on a farm! I lease a horse that stays on a farm about 20-30 mins away from me.
For major(s)/minor(s), I’m intrested in biomedical engineering, molecular and cellular biology, and global health.

@tonyk16 Lol I have this one here for anyone who needed Monday motivation, and knows what happened at the Miss Universe 2015 Beauty Pageant

I’m still sorry for her :)) ! Did you hear she’s suing Steve Harvey for $5M?

Yeah I heard about it. I also hear that it wasn’t Steve Harvey’s fault because he was reading what he was supposed to, someone wrote the wrong thing down or something like that. Regardless, it was still funny.

@ak2018 Yeah lol. No, for 5 million that is insane?? WOW

Seems like since the beginning of the year I need constant motivation. I plan on majoring in astrophysics and computer science.

Wait so how do you guys not procrastinate if anyone does it?

@tonyk16 Also I’ve been talking to my guidance counselor as well. Our state has a career pathfinder for anyone who doesn’t know exactly what they want to do when they get older. This pathfinder makes taking a career aptitude test obsolete. Even though I already knew I wanted to be an engineer, I took the test anyway. It told me that I could do very well as an engineer as well as saying that I’m a future-thinker, meaning I like to think about the future, which I do. I would recommend getting some “guidance” :))

@Madeline25 Wow, you have it way worse than me. Genuine question that is kinda stupid, but is there really anyway for your teacher to find out if you cheat on a take-home test? I’ve never had one myself, so I don’t know if there are any loopholes they use. Its good that you’re fine with tackling it all though. I’m the kind of person whose procrastination rate correlates with workload increase (I know I don’t have a lot, but with midterms on the horizon I really should start preparing for them on top of my actual homework). Combine that with all of the free time break provides, and it isn’t a good scenario.

@ak2018 When I was younger, I would have said English or Journalism. Now, I don’t know. I would consider being a History major, if they had decent job prospects outside being a teacher. I wish I was into STEM stuff because of the career choices, but fate made me an English/History person. :stuck_out_tongue: (Also, is it proper to capitalize college majors? I just am because it seems right but I don’t really know)

@Kelvin82 @Tedalkfan and anyone else who was interested in applying, the summer programs I am applying to are SRAP Wyoming and MDIBL High School Fellowship (ME). Neither are in my state actually.
sorry this reply is super super late but I don’t check cc all that often

@ak2018 yea I heard it was really sad especially because she had a translator and she couldn’t even understand while it was happening!! D’:

Yeah @LeopardFire It actually is proper. Also, STEM is pretty cool and I love it! It’s okay if you’re a English/History kind of guy, there are many career choices involved with that. The only other careers involved in history I can think of are historians, archaeologists, and anthropologists. Don’t worry though, we’re only sophomores. We still have time!

@Lbelle43 Thanks, my parents keep telling me it a “BIG” decision for every summer activity. I begged them if I can work but they haven’t decided yet(probably won’t let me ). The only way I can convince them is by telling them if they don’t let me my chance of going to good school will decrease(for internship). I am just looking for some near by, with reasonable day hours.

@LeopardFire I doubt there is a way to find if you use any resources at home. No, it isn’t stupid also I used to wonder about that a lot.

@LeopardFire Oh yes. I was the only one that didn’t cheat on our last take home test. :-"

@Tedalkfan Yup! She didn’t deserve the crown. Even with a translator, her answers seemed to basic. Also, I have a hidden passion for astrophysics. Ever since I saw Neil deGrasse Tyson’s Comos: A Spacetime Odyssey, I have admired him and astrophysics. It truly and I might plan on minoring in that if I have the time. Also, there are many ways to not procrastinate. I don’t feel like listing them, but if you look through the internet, you’re sure to find something that might work for you. I feel that the main reason why we procrastinate is because the more and more we are reminded of how important something is, the more and more effort we think it will take. So we hold on doing that task for as long as we can.

@tonyk16 If you’re going to major in Math, then Calculus is going to be your best friend/worst enemy, especially Multivariable (Calculus III). Then you might do Linear Algebra or Euclidean Geometry, depending on what the degree requirements are. Also, the Miss. Universe thing was really funny.

@raffie Computer Science is definitely becoming a growing field and a great one to be in. I actually want to minor in Computer Science.

@Madeline25 I wish I had a horse. I’ve ridden a horse twice in my life, and it really does calm the nerves once you get the hang of it. My bus passes by a farm everyday. There used to so many crops (corn, wheat, and barly, I think) and now that everything’s been harvested, it look all gray. I’d love to live on farm for a day. Chickens freak me out, so I’d probably milk the cows. Those look like some pretty good majors and minors by the way.

@LeopardFire I’m also the same way when it comes to procrastination. Also, I’ve had one take home test before, we all had perfect scores. Teacher gave us another test to do in class, we all failed, and she never gave us another take home test again. That’s how she caught us.

While I am planning on majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I also plan to have some minors if can do some. I’m not planning on doing all of them, but some. It depends on which ones I choose.

Computer Science
Computer Programming
Computer Engineering
Astrophysics
Astronomy
Physics
Math

@Tedalkfan I’m in the same situation. My father mentioned doing some internships this summer, but there are none available in my area. I wanted to get a job, but I feel like he doesn’t want me to.
