High School Class of 2019

thanks yall! @Mathophile26 @literallyliteral

I really just want to get the first day of school over with. Like my school has 3 different lunches so those 10 minutes where you’re trying to find your friends is so so so awkward and I’m gonna have to do this TWICE. And then that awkward first day of class when you’re trying to find a place to sit and everyone’s staring at you omg I hate it so much.

i never have that problem b/c my group just goes to the exact same place every lunch. we don’t have assigned tables or whatever. we have lunch tables but i don’t use them so we just sit at a grassy area.

@adiacs Same omg… That is my biggest fear every semester I hate it

just got back from registration
can’t take world history AP because it’s only a 5th period class, along with french 3 :frowning: decided to just take it easier this year and focus on other classes instead of needlessly stressing myself out. i can always take more APs next year.

but here’s my schedule:

1 - Chem H
2 - English 2 H
3 - Algebra 2 H
4 - World History
5 - French 3
6 - XC

Hey three of my four classes (all dual credit) started yesterday. So I have one professor who I like (I’m actually not in the class yet, sigh), and two who are pretty decent. The subject matter for 2/3 classes is interesting. My writing course starts on Monday, and the professor for that is pretty hard. Two of my classes have round tables, and one relies on group work, which I’ve never done. We did introductions yesterday and, when asked what year I’m in (for college), some of my classmates were happy and surprised that I’m in 10th grade.

@CharlotteLetter I’m in 2 dual enroll classes this semester and 3 AP’s. No one knows I’m a 10th grader in my dual classes though… B-)

Nobody in any of my DE classes knows I’m a high schooler either B-)

Because I’m not in any B-) B-) B-)

@awesomepolyglot lol :). I’m not in any DE classes right now (only people who are 16+ years old can take them), but I will take Calculus 3 at my community college senior year because I’ll be out of math clases to take in HS by then

on a side note i cant be too mad because my friend got her education ruined b/c her counselor failed (understatement). she was told she only needed a D to pass geometry (which is our school policy). she got a D, but for whatever reason i still don’t understand, it didn’t count as a pass. she now has to retake geometry, and because she can’t advance to algebra 2 which has to be concurrent with chem, she can’t advance from bio so she has to take physical science (which is a 9th grade class for students who didn’t pass algebra 1 in 8th grade and had to retake it). her scheduling now makes it so that there’s no available korean class, unless she drops her sports (cross country and soccer, she was the starting goalkeeper on the JV squad as a freshman too, so she’s good).

so not only is she a year behind in science and math but now she has to choose between sports (that shes good at) and a language because her counselor was terrible

she complained to the dean but he couldnt do anything

if i was in her position i would literally move schools

Oh gosh 0.o @literallyliteral

That is… that’s a nightmare

What summer plans have y’all got? I know it’s all a long way off, but applications for any programs are coming up fast.

I’m gonna take a look at this thing at IU-B called SEED, PROMYS (again p.p), ROSS, SSRP, and some other math stuff

acronyms are neat

Tennessee Governor’s School for the Sciences, Nature Camp, maybe visiting Rice. Not a ton, compared to sOME PEOPLE.

I’m gonna try for the NIH as a major reach. I’m also considering some ‘more realistic’ ones and I will narrow down the list pretty soon.

Im hoping to maybe do something with NSLI or intern at one of Princeton’s museums/labs :stuck_out_tongue: i’m sure i’ll add some other stuff to the list too

@ZealousScholar I’m also applying to NIH for summer

I would love to do an NSLI-Y youth exchange but I’d have to miss school.

My sleep schedule is so messed up. Two day ago, I slept for 10 hours, was awake for 1 hour, and then took a six hour nap. Today, I haven’t slept in 12 hours.

Hopefully I’ll be back to normal when school starts.

I’m on the same boat as @northeastgirl24 . I think we live in the same area lmao. But yeah, I’m very interested in NSLI-Y, MIT Launch, LEAD Business Institute, TASS, and a few others. Maybe try out for a few internships at Princeton University, and if all else fails, SAT prep camp.

Oh, man, I could try out for some internships! @whimsicalwhims That is a good idea :0
Time for the mass e-mails…
