High School Class of 2019

but then again having a crush is exhausting nvm

@adiacs For real tho :stuck_out_tongue:

@IAmNotCreativ basically me
my engi teacher flew by thermo, so I had to learn that by myself :frowning:
my chem teacher is just leaving a lot of the learning to usss
and while my calc prof. is an amazing lecturer I totally relate; some of my peers have taken AB and/or BC D:
so when they’re like ‘ugh we never did this’ or ‘this is really hard’ it’s really cool but also scary
and I wish we’d spent just a little longer doing optimization problems… >.>

never got a straight up answer here, but is self studying precal worth it? i want to try since algebra 2 is so easy for me right now (that sounded braggy, sorry :/) but I am scared i’ll completely fail ap calculus… or stats for that matter! any advice as to how to tackle precal? would a tutor help or something

@anan16 It’s not worth self studying pre calc. I self studied alg 2 and i thought it was a complete waste of time and im glad i didnt talk myself into self studying pre clac. If you think alg 2 is easy pre calc will prob be a breeze for you too.

@anan16 I was in that situation, I took an online course while traveling last summer, and it was a mixed big!
Part of it was a blast. I learned lots about how I learn, how much I want to learn, and what I want to learn.
Part of it sucked. 'cuz I’m undisciplined, lazy, and had my focus split between that and other stuff.
Now I’m doing great in calculus (whining aside)! So, it does work out. I also really love math, although I’m not sure if that happened de facto before or after the ordeal of learning trig by your lonesome.

Precalc is split into algebra 2 review, trig, and a slew of random stuff. Learning it right after algebra 2 is a huge time saver if you’ve got solid algebra skills, but a killer if you’re lacking when you get to calculus.
For some people it doesn’t work out, but for me it’s been great. That doesn’t mean it’s right for you (I’m reaally into math), but it does provide a counterexample to the overwhelming 'no’s.

@anan16 it depends on how willing and able you are to focus on learning precalc by yourself. Khan Academy has some great resources, but because the precalc curriculum varies a lot from county to county, you should ask one of the precalc teachers for a course outline for the year.
Another thing you also want to consider is that colleges prefer that you take math every year, if you were to self study precalc, what math class would you take next year and the year after that. Would you run out of math classes? Would you have to take DE classes? Would those DE classes be viable (would your school allow it, how about transportation, would our credits transfer, etc)?
There is no simple answer.

@IAmNotCreativ Heyy :wink:

Omg guys i got his # :))

@Shanban1607 nice

@Shanban1607 I’m a few days late to this but you can change your username… at least I was able to by messaging a moderator and a week or two later they sent me an email and it was changed.

Dang it I missed the Trump rally today

I only wanted to go just so I can say I saw him, not because I support him though.

So in total, I got to see Michelle Obama and Deborah Ross, but missed Barack Obama, Pharrell, Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump. I’m sad:(

The perks of living in Raleigh, NC:)

@adiacs I had a couple friends who went to a rally just for that reason, to say they went and stuff. Not that any of them actually like trump.

@Shanban1607 yeah I don’t like trump either but it’s like a once in a lifetime opportunity

@adiacs It is unless he wins. shudder

@IAmNotCreativ ugh don’t even talk about it. VOTE FOR HILLARY!! I think I’m allowed to say that.
