High School Class of 2019

All of the summer things I’m trying/applying for are free! Well, four of them cost taxpayers, but they’re free for me.

anyone have any worthwhile summer programs out there that I could be doing this summer?

Most of mine are state or language specific, so no :frowning:

@shaneyboy123 I will be applying to COSMOS (at the UC’s), but that’s mostly for CA, I believe. And maybe Summer Science Program, SUMaC, Mathcamp, Ross Math Program, Girls Who Code summer immersion program, etc. These are all extremely hard to get into, though, (and some are expensive) so I’ll need more options for the summer. I can always volunteer at the library, I guess

2 things:

  1. I’m not so much climbing trash as I am climbing dumpster fire. (Sorry, GroupMe people, for using the same thing twice.) I was watching an old ABS nationals and I almost started crying because I miss climbing.

Dudes. I went climbing. On Monday. I haven’t been to the gym in over a week, so maybe that’s it?

  1. Hamiltrash Guns and Ships is hilarious. 10/10, would recommend.

For me, it’s either PROMYS, Ross, SuMAC, or some research at the local uni.
Maybe I’ll get to work on some poetry?

I’m applying to the TN Governor’s Schools in Sciences, Emerging Technologies, and Scientific Models and Data Analysis. I’m hoping to take the NGE and score high enough to apply to go to Germany for 3 weeks. Plus, I’m taking at least the preliminary tests for 4 International Science Olympiads.

Hopefully I’ll go somewhere this summer…

I’m looking to go on an international mission trip this summer, either to Nicaragua or Haiti. Summer college programs seem pointless and expensive to me… I’m not going to waste me time applying to any.

i’m applying to some program at UPenn where you take college level courses

I was feeling so stressed about finishing all my homework before Monday but I just went on a bike ride with my dad and I honestly feel so much better

VERY low key happy that my math teacher’s car got broken into because she lost the assessments that i basically failed

Omg that almost happened to my teacher, except he got our tests back haha

:frowning: our cross country team choked at the state championship after being predicted 1st, our best chance to win a state title in probably forever

seriously hurt

I’m feeling so stressed about finishing up homework and stuff in my college classes

so proud of myself, I got a 99 on this math project I stayed up all night doing and thought I did way worse than I actually did

I was just the first person to finish the Science Olympiad test. Hopefully that doesn’t mean that I wasn’t thinking enough…

My calc class was set back for a bit due to a less than satisfactory substitute, so we ended up rushing through the fundamental theorem quite a bit. </3

Consequently I was like ‘wut’ for a little bit, but as luck would have it I had a little ‘a-ha’ moment in the last 30 minutes.

Suddenly, it happened:
A moan tore through the classroom. like an angry yawn. At first I thought, ‘ech, some jerk is ****ing around,’ but the sound’s true nature was revealed as its source, a girl a couple rows behind me, began convulsing. :S

Turns out, my poor peer was having a seizure! Several students and the professor rushed immediately to help- first lodging a pen(???) between her gritted teeth to protect her tongue, then placing her on the floor sideways.

After a little bit of chaos and a cool 911 call, class was dismissed early. Hopefully the lady will be alright. o.o

@CharlotteLetter I can relate! My calc assignments are in such a way that I must either do them over the weekends (nooo p.p) or cram everything into Monday and Tuesday nights!
And assignments can get loooong…

usually I do fairly well (which is really /quite/ well >.>) in spite of the time crunch, but sometimes I just pass out and panic-finish them during lunch

sometimes I feel like doing procrasinated homework in one huge session is awesome exam prep 0.o

Just curious, do you guys go to public or private school? I go to a public school.

@shaneyboy123 I go to a massive overcrowded public school

I go to a fairly small high school, probably about 500 kids.
