@bway5492 Welcome, welcome! Your schedule looks great, I’m sure you’ll have a fun time junior year.
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned what I’m doing over the summer in this thread, but I’ll most likely be doing a math/CS summer program and some research at a local lab (if possible), and focusing on the SAT/ACT (haven’t decided which one to take yet!) + Subject Tests if I have the time
How long are your summer breaks? Mine is just over a month, about 5-6 weeks!
@aesthetes Thank you! That sounds like a lot of fun, and it is nice to spend time outside during the Summer! I live in a city so it is harder to find nice outdoorsy garden type stuff to do, but volunteering in nature sounds like a great idea!
So my Junior year schedule looks like this:
Semester 1:
20th Century Novel
Modern History
American History
Pre-Calc
Intro to Physics
PE
Race, Class, and Gender in 20th Century Pop Culture
Gender Studies
Semester 2:
Poetry
PE
Human Genetics
Interdisciplinary Thinking
Physics A
American History
Pre-Calc
Stage Craft
I go to a lab school, so all of our classes are honors level, and we have really cool electives. We do 12th grade English in 10th grade so we take “special topics” in Jr and Sr year. I’m also taking Spanish at our local college. I’m excited, though a little worried because I’m taking 2 English classes and 3 History classes 1st semester, all of them pretty notoriously difficult, and 2 Science classes and 2 History classes 2nd semester, also all notoriously hard. My only “easy” class is Stage Craft, which is like learning to do the backstage parts of theatre. I’m sure I’ll be fine, but it’s a big course load, especially with my dance/acrobatics/theatre schedule and clubs/other extracurriulars.
Hello! I’m kinda new, but I know this place is full well-informed people. I was hoping if this is a good junior schedule -
AP US History
AP Computer Science
AP Language and Composition
Honors Algebra II/Trigonometry
Animation Projects
Drawing & Painting (possibly advanced)
Computer Graphics and Design
I’m aspiring to go into the digital art/graphic design field when I’m in college. I’m thinking about taking some summer college courses such as an extra lab science and American Sign language. And an online Java coding course or two. I go to a pretty standard but well-ranked public high school in Cali. Does this seem like a good schedule? Any advice on getting A’s in the AP classes I’m going to take?
@bella22 that looks like a really cool schedule! You seem to have lots of unique and interesting classes. I am also a theatre/dance person so I know what you mean about having lots of schoolwork and also rehearsals and such. But, I’m sure you’ll find a way to manage it
@theMaddyKinz That looks like a great schedule! You have a good mix of hard classes and classes on subjects that interest you, so that seems good. I think the trick to doing well is simply working hard because it is what you want and you as a student want to succeed and get good grades. AP classes are hard, yes, but if you truly dedicate time and effort to them, you should be fine.
@bway5492 yeah it’s a pretty hard schedule but I’ll deal with it, I just hope that there are Spanish classes at my local University that work with my schedule.
This was the most rigorous schedule I could take and I did select honors if the option was available… How prestigious/well of a junior year schedule is this? My future career would be somewhere in business and i’d like to apply to ivy league schools.
@noplayallwork I never said I had to do one, I just wanted to know about a summer program that was not expensive that I could participate in, and I meant to say ‘‘free/not so expensive summer programs, internships, etc.’’
@Redkox are you sure? I just had a second look and I couldn’t find anything like that. Maybe some of the individual programs are, though. Lots of summer programs are indeed only for juniors. But I’ll look around more and see what I can dig up.
@bella22 I mean, the individual programs are not only for juniors (or most of them) but Questbridge only gives you the scholarships if you are a Junior.
