High School Class of 2019

yay, linear algebra! am jelly @RussianbioHacker
you seem to be doing just fine. Take AP physics 2 if you want, but I doubt anybody will care whether you take C (except for you, oc)!

Linear Algebra as a junior is so cool, @RussianbioHacker! Will you be doing it as a DE class?

Also, I’m anxiously waiting my finalized schedule for next year. Once I get it I’ll post  Fingers crossed I still get to do Further Math HL!

@OMPursuit Yeah, I think I won’t take AP Physics C in senior year, since I’m not majoring in physics.
@VaporeonKid Thanks. I don’t think I’ll do DE for Linear Algebra, probably an online class.

Hey y’all, I’m back again with the complaining about math lol. I can read/listen to and comprehend large, large portions of multiple foreign languages, yet I just tried to read the first paragraph for my math homework tonight (Int. math 3, basically alg2/trig/adv geometry/some stats) and comprehended like… zero percent of it. honestly I can’t imagine doing another year of algebra stuff in pre-calc. I gotta talk to my school about taking stats next year and no math senior year (possible I’ll need 1 more semester to graduate). Makes me less competitive for some schools, but I honestly don’t even care at this point…

final scheduling tmrw!

good luck! @literallyliteral

We get some sort of add/drop period in the first week so I’m not too worried about my schedule yet. However, I was not given Economics HL in my current class list since they didn’t want students to take up 4 HLs without getting a taste of IB first. I know 3 HL subjects is pretty competitive on its own, but I really wanted to do 4. We’ll see. This is going to be a hard-fought battle; I can sense it already.

How are you guys prepping for AP Exams?

@adiacs I haven’t started yet on any super-serious prep, but I’m probably going to buy prep books and find practice tests for Chemistry, Env Sci, Comp Sci, and Bio. I didn’t take bio as an official class this year, but I’ve been reading through Campbell Biology in my spare time.

alright, my final schedule (assuming no scheduling issues) for next year:

APUSH
AP Biology
AP Lang
Pre-Calculus Honors
French 4
XC/Track ofc

wish me luck lol… #nosleepever

Track is a class for you? That’s so cool! Are your practices scheduled in too? @literallyliteral

Class of '19 here as well. I’ve decided seven out of the eight courses we are required to decide.

AP Calculus BC
UCONN ECE AP Physics 1
AP English 11
AP US History
French 3
Principles of Engineering (PLTW course)
Band
undecided

In case you were wondering, here was my schedule for my sophomore (current) year.

AP Statistics
AP Computer Science A
Honors Precalculus
Honors Chemistry
Honors English 10
Pre-AP Early American History (precursor to AP US History - 1/2 year)
Middle Ages (1/2 year history elective)
French 1
Physical Education

And my hypothetical senior year schedule.

math course at Fairfield University
AP Physics C
UCONN ECE AP English 12
UCONN ECE Microeconomics (1/2 year course)
UCONN ECE Macroeconomics (1/2 year course)
Civics 1 (1/2 year course)
Civics 2 (1/2 year course)
French 4
Band
Engineering Design and Development (PLTW capstone course)

@BiaxialObject48 What’s a UCONN class? Is it a Post-AP type thing, or an alternative to AP classes? They sound cool! Also, really nice rigorous schedule you’ve got up there!

@VaporeonKid

A UCONN class just means that it is a college-level course, taught by a UCONN-certified teacher. It can be an alternative to AP classes, but most of the time, students just take the AP exam at the end of the course. You also get ECE college credits that mostly apply to UCONN, but some students have been able to transfer them to colleges like Georgia Tech.

Thanks (in regard to your comment on my schedule)!

I also chose to take a new robotics course being taught at our school in place of the undecided slot for next year. As for the Fairfield University course in senior year (I have a scholarship there so that’s why I chose it), I will probably take Calculus III and maybe linear algebra.

@VaporeonKid

In our school it counts as a 6th period class. Kinda sucks, because it means that I have one less space for academics, but it’s better than getting out at 6 every day. Doesn’t factor into GPA or anything obviously.

Going back on my previous comment, I decided not to take the robotics class (it was full of freshman - we had an elective tour on Friday). I’m taking PLTW/AP Computer Science Principles, so that brings my total AP credits to about 12.

Hi all, another class of '19 here. Figured I’d share my (tentative) schedule for next year:
AP Calc BC
AP Physics I
AP Chemistry
AP English Lang
AP US History
AP Human Geography
French IV Honors
Human Anatomy and Physiology Honors
Best of luck to us all as we enter junior year in a few months.

@literallyliteral That’s interesting. Our sports practices actually get out at about 6 on practice days, unless it’s XC or swimming, whose practices are in the mornings. Which sucks, but eh, I’ll take it. We don’t get as much choice on classes too (perks of having to fulfill IB diploma requirements) (:expressionless:

School is killing me; I just want this semester to be over 8-|
AP exams have me kind of nervous but I’m pretty confident about the AP Eng Lit exam since I love the class so much/get good grades in it. I’ve really been slacking on AP Psych though so I hope I can at least manage a decent exam score there.

Wow! You guys are all taking so many challenging and interesting courses! I attend a prestigious performing arts school, so my school does not offer many APs nor do I have time, considering my four daily major classes and the time commitments in regards to that. I am in AP global this year (the only one my school offers for sophomores) and am signed up for four next year, although they are all on the easier side of APs: AP comp, APUSH, AP environment, and AP human geography. I hope that will be enough to be a competitive student for college, given the unique artistic opportunities I have had through school.
