High School Class of 2020

@Bobbybob444555 Thank you!!

Is anyone taking AP Chem next year? My honors chem teacher just sent us a 20 page summer assignment.

@Bobbybob444555 Wow you guys are lucky to be allowed to take AP science courses sophomore year we aren’t allowed them until junior year. The only AP classes we can take next year are APHG and AP Euro

@Bobbybob444555 I’m taking AP Chem next year too! Our summer assignment is only 17 pages though :)) (plus reading and some memorization).

We aren’t really allowed to take AP science classes next year either! Well, there’s AP Enviro, but I don’t really want to take that. I’m just going to double up on chemistry and physics, which I am super nervous about, because the physics teachers at our school are notoriously bad. This year, there were only 3 people in any grade with As in physics. Not even AP Physics, just regular physics.

@onlyworthypotato im taking the sat biology test too good luck!! What teview book have you used? I keep getting ~680 on all my sample tests and i dont know what to use now lol

This years schedule:
AP World History I
Algebra 1
Spanish 2
Biology Regents
English 9 Regents
PE
Study Hall Semesters 1/2

Next years schedule:
AP World History II
Applied Geometry
CHS Spanish 3
Earth Science Regents
English 10 Honors
PE
Health Education
PLTW Principles of Biomedical Sciences

I am so very extremely nervous for next year, partially due to NYS and their regents exam requirements. Do you think being in two blocks of study halls will hurt my chances at college from freshman year of HS? I took a lot of study halls into my schedule because I was going through therapy for an anxiety disorder and OCD.

@nerdy01 Same in my school. The honors physics teacher doesn’t even lecture and considers himself a “coach”. He coaches the students and doesn’t actually teach them. @myactualname Yup, I’m so excited for that class. I love my honors chem teacher and I hope I get her for ap.

@catsarecute32 I’m using Barron’s right now and I really like it honestly. What I recommend you do is go back and do two things with your practice tests. First, tally up the number of mistakes you made or missed questions under three categories: didn’t know material, silly mistake, and didn’t apply material. From there you can work on either learning more of what you don’t know, focus more on reading the question and understanding what exactly it is asking, or working on experimental based questions based off of the category that you missed the most in. And second, get a notebook and use it for all sat bio things. Go back and look at your tests and look at the answer explanations for the ones you left blank or missed. Write down the material that you needed to know to get that question right in your notebook. I’ve been doing this myself and I’m almost done with one whole notebook. It goes a long way man! Good luck to you too!!!

@writer80 No you should be fine. Colleges don’t seem to look at your freshman year too much, and if they eventually ask about it you can explain.

It sucks that you have to take so many Regents though, I was lucky that my school let me skip Earth Science. Good luck!

@writer80 You can always explain that in your applications. AP world history for two years? Your freshman and sophomore schedule are pretty average. They don’t allow you to advance in courses in NY?

Thank you! :wink: @Voxle1 I know! Earth science sounds so boring! :frowning:

Haha yes AP World is broken up into two years at our school, and our school does offer advanced courses but just by grade level, like no one can take a class higher than the grade they are in. I am not a math or science person, so I just take regular classes for those, but as far as foreign language, English, and history, I excel in those and take advanced :wink: @Bobbybob444555

Here is my POSSIBLE freshman schedule:

AP Comp Science (year-round/online)
Chemistry Honors
English 3 Honors
Pre-calculus (year round)
Geometry
Spanish 1
Maybe Physics Honors
Piano
JROTC

@Mahindra Um are you even class of 2020 or are you class of 2021??

Class of 2020. Why?

I meant to say sophomore

@Mahindra lol I just got confused is all :))

@onlyworthypotato Np

@Mahindra Wow, you’re doubling on Pre-calc and Geometry? Isn’t Geometry a prerequisite for Pre-Calc?
