I’m a rising sophomore. I’m taking 4 AP classes next year (AP Stats, AP Comp Sci, APUSH, AP Chem). I plan on taking 5 AP’s Junior year and 6 senior year.
@Foreboding Oh
@Foreboding Statistics is considered an elective. I would recommend to take precalc alongside ap stats if you want.
Is anyone bored during the summer? What do you guys do during this time to stay busy?
Im going to debate camp but other than that nothing really
Try doing something fun, like learning a new language, or picking up a sport
I’ve already taken precalc! Also as for the summer I’m going to camp but I don’t have much else as well!
I’m usually pretty bored. I do club sports and maybe an art class here or there, but that’s it. I applied to COSMOS and got rejected, but that’s fine because I have a ton of summer hw.
Enjoy your summers though. The school year is hectic for most of us (aka overachievers) so the summer is a nice relaxation time. I also have summer homework for three classes.
I’m going to try to relax my summers too, but spend at least 5 hours total per weekday on precalc and chemistry (to take Calc BC and AP Chem). I don’t think it will be as bad as it seems since I actually enjoy math and science. I am excited but actually very terrified at the same time to be taking AP Bio, AP Chem, Calc BC, and APUSH next year. HELP!
@Kabasi
how are you taking so many APs w h a t
How are any of yall in AP Calc i feel dumb for going into algebra 2 next year
@catsarecute32 My school is pretty lenient with our online class registration. I took honors bio so got the prereq for AP Bio, taking APUSH because all smart sophomores do here, AP Calc (working through precalc and some calc over summer), then AP Chem (reading chem over summer). I know about 4 other freshman doing 4 AP’s next year, so I guess I’m in their boat? I also will have some junior friends (5+ AP’s) to confide in if times get rough. Honestly, though, you probably are on the better path with what you’re doing, RIP Kabasi 2017-2018 school year
@Kabasi That’s absolutely crazy!! I view you as lucky man because honestly we aren’t allowed any APs other than APHG and AP Euro until junior year!!! 4 APs…you are incredibly lucky!!
@onlyworthypotato haha thanks, still a bit worried though since they’re all hard ones. I would drop APUSH, but the only other class is regular USH that isn’t honors. Cross Country may make it difficult at the start, but after that’s over in November I should be fine… maybe
@Kabasi Good luck. I’m not in a big rush for APs. I took WHAP this year and I will take AP Chem next year.
Wow, how do you take so many AP’s so early? My prospected sophomore schedule is
Advanced Placement U. S. Government & Politics
Chemistry Honors
English 10 Honors
Foods and Nutrition
Health
Honors Geometry / Pre-Calculus
Marketing 1
Spanish 2
I feel dumb looking at all of your schedules haha
My exact courses are:
APUSH
AP Statistics
AP Computer Science
AP Chemistry
Honors German 2
Honors American Literature
Culinary Arts
@bleakcastaway Your schedule is very good. Nothing to be ashamed of. Where I live we take ap us gov/ economics senior year.
It also depends on the school. My school is extremely, extremely competitive to the point of almost being repugnant.
@Foreboding Your school has culinary arts? That sounds like so much fun! Does it count as an art?
Also, do you not have to take PE/ a sport?
Does anybody else only have 5 class periods plus a sports slot? It seems like everybody else has so many classes.
I have 8 periods. Culinary arts is a mandatory elective (you need electives in different areas) and a class I’m not looking forward to. I don’t have to take PE or a sport as we have this thing where you can go take physical activity (workout, martial arts, etc…) and then count that as your PE.
