High School Class of 2020

What sucks is that every program I look at needs you to be 16 by June/July. I’ll turn 16 in August and the summer prior to becoming a senior is the only opportunity I’ll get to apply. Anybody know any programs that sets the requirement at 15? :frowning:

@reallypanicked Try looking at Harvard! 15 is old enough for Harvard Pre-College over the summer…

By the way, I’m just trying to finalize my course schedule for next year, and this is (tentatively) my junior year schedule…

AP US History (Required)
AP Russian (Required)
AP Biology
AP English Language and Composition
Pre-Calculus
Electronics (Possibly not taking if I don’t have enough room in my schedule)

Any thoughts?? Also if anyone has taken AP Biology is it an interesting class?

@scottt23 you’re schedule looks pretty strong. My sister takes AP bio right now and she thinks it’s interesting, but challenging. Also, I’m pretty sure AP Russian isn’t a thing. Unless I’m ill-informed.

@Candyblossom1245 Thanks! AP Russian is just the name my school gives college level Russian classes. I was trying to choose between AP Bio and AP Chem for my science, but I’m pretty sure I’ll end up taking AP Bio so thanks for the advice!

Guys, I just had possibly the hardest week of high school. I am so happy it’s over. Anyways, schedules are due at midnight, so I got mine finalized:

APUSH
AP Lang
AP Stats
AP Environmental (dropped AP Bio, because honestly, I’d like to have a little bit of a social life next year)
Honors Precalc
Honors German IV
Chemistry (I know, bleh)

@hs2020kid I won’t be doing anything major. I’m returning for another season in my summer community swim team, and attending SAT Prep. I don’t mind any of these because I love my community swim team. I have many friends there, and I just love the experience. The fact that I wasn’t able to do it last year makes me yearn for it even more.

@ab2002 Congrats on your final schedule, and no worries about Chemistry, it looks fine, especially because you’re already in four APs and two honors. Also all in all, it looks great!

P.S. Does anybody know about threads being deleted? I made a thread, and it was deleted, but have no idea why. Is anyone familiar with this concept?

Have a good day!

I heard somewhere that colleges don’t like to see APES on your transcript for some reason. Can anyone confirm/dispute this?

@reallypanicked From what I’m aware, as long as you have take at least a year of bio, chem, and physics at some point in high school, they’re okay with you taking APES, especially if you plan on majoring in Environmental Science in college.

Have a good day!

@reallypanicked Purdue still has one with Colorado U and New Mexico that’s still taking apps

@anthonytheboy a thread get deleted when it goes off topic. was yours in the same vein?

@reallypanicked people who usually take APES are usually very interested in environmental science, or just don’t want to take AP Chem, Bio, or Physics. It’s considered a v easy class

@onthewestfence It was a thread I created myself, and no one had responded before it was deleted, so…

But either way, thanks for trying to help.

Have a good day!

@reallypanicked Stanford has a variety of camp courses for age 15. I believe those same summer camps are specifically intended for juniors, too. You don’t get college credit, so it’s purely for academic enrichment. Also it’s quite expensive, but if you want to check it out, they’re still accepting apps.

@anthonytheboy I haven’t had a thread that I personally created deleted, but I had a thread that I commented on shut down right after I posted a comment. I’m not sure why; it wasn’t off-topic or offensive. There was no warning and no explanation. Seems weird.

@HS student. Okay! Thanks for letting me know.

I’m just going to try to put it on again.

Have a good day!

Anyone else’s life falling apart right now? My grades are awful. I have 3 B’s right now. GOING THROUGH A CRISIS.

@ab2002 ya school is pretty rough, and my track season is about to start so I’ll have even less time for work.

Also we’ve finally hit 1000+ posts!!

Have your schools started to get you guys ready for college? We had a meeting last week, but it wasn’t very helpful. My college counselors are good for regular schools, but they are very unhelpful for attempting to get into top schools as they tend to be a tad misinformed and they don’t want kids to apply to them that much.

What are some good AP Classes for someone who wants to major in Economics? My school does have AP micro ior macro.

@ManOfGod AP Statistics, AP U.S. History

@ManOfGod @ab2002 has good ones, but in the end, all of the humanities courses (AP English Lang/Lit, AP US/Comp Gov, AP World History, etc.) and AP Calc AB/BC and AP Stats are useful!

P.S. @ab2002 While my grades aren’t the best, they’re alright. For me, it’s more of a mental crisis at the moment. Good luck with your grades!

Have a good day!

@ab2002 i hate chem, its killing me and my gpa
