Has anyone considered applying to UK universities? I am kind of open to the idea of going international since I plan on applying to U of T and McGill. I was thinking either King’s College and London School of Economics if I actually go through with applying.
@ab2002 Yeah, I have considered it because I really like Europe, and because the U.K. has a lot of great English programs, which is what I want to major in, but it seems incredibly expensive.
Have a nice day.
I’m interested in University of Aberdeen for PPE
anyone take the october ACT and/or is taking the november SAT?
November SAT here, barely studied I know I’m taking it again in the spring because of school so just gonna accept this L
I took october
Good luck! @moviestar505 and @goneaway
Have a nice day.
Woah, I just found this thread!
This might be really late, but here’s my class schedule this year:
AP Capstone Seminar
AP Chemistry
Spanish 3
Physics
AP US History
AP Literature
Dual Enrollment Statistics (first semester)
Dual Enrollment Calculus III (second semester)
Also, PSAT was sort of hard. Reading section was a bit harder than I expected, but I think I did fine. Writing section was as expected; I probably got one or two wrong. Math was extremely easy. Not sure if I’ll make NMSQT cutoff (California), but let’s just pray that I will (I’m predicting at least 1460, probably around 1470 or 1480).
@ktong777 when did you take it? I took the Saturday one and I thought the reading and writing were very hard. Math was about what it usually is. And I hope you make Semifinalist, but that might be a little difficult. Last year I got a 1460 and my cutoff score was a 216 and I think CA is usually up there around 222 or something like that.
@ps1kd I took it on the first testing date (Wednesday). And yes, California’s cutoff is usually super high, I think it was 223 last year or something like that. Several of my friends from the Class of 2019 got 1470 and missed the cutoff by 1 point. And thank you for the wished!!
@ktong777 Welcome to the thread!
I feel you, by the way. I thought the PSAT was incredibly challenging, even more so than the SAT.
Have a nice day.
I took the PSAT on the 24th and feeling confident. I don’t really care about NMS, but I think I made it over the 1400 mark. Cutoff is 1460/1470 for Ohio, so the chances for anyone to make it is pretty low. We had a testing violation in my room, and the reading was a little difficult. I finished all of the other sections with time to look over my answers.
I’m feeling pretty solid about the PSAT as well! However, I live in Texas and the cutoff is even more difficult (1490 I believe)
Is anyone taking the SAT in December? I’m lowkey worried about it because the curves have been terrible since June (except August), and I don’t want a terrible curve to ruin my score. I got a 1490 on the August SAT (bombed writing), and I’m planning on getting a 1550+ in December.
I’m taking it a third time in March, not December, but I completely feel your pain and understand why you feel that way. I took it in October, so if you have any questions about those types of tests, I’d be glad to answer. Good luck!
Have a nice day.
Lol today I just figured out the class rank of 1/3 of my grade even though we’re only supposed to know deciles and those aren’t even released until senior year. They put up a list of the new NHS members and my friend noticed that the kids with the highest GPAs were in one section of the list and we compared our GPAs and found that as you went down the list the GPAs always got lower.
Is anyone taking the December ACT? This will be my first time taking the ACT, and i’m kind of excited ngl
@collegeready33 yes I am
Okay, I’m looking for some last-minutish tips for the SAT. My main worry is writing.
Does anyone have consistency tips for SAT Writing section? I always make 1-3 silly mistakes that I realize right away after submitting, but somehow I’m never able to spot them when I go back over my test, even when I spend extra time on the questions.
I used to finish the writing section in like 15 minutes and have 20 minutes to check my answers, but recently I’ve started to slow down my pace so that I can really about the questions. I still have a tendency of unconsciously making stupid mistakes, such as not reading all the choices, or not reading the whole sentence. I’ve been trying super hard to catch myself doing this, but I’m still making this mistake This always drops my score like 20-50 points on the test because of the (basically) nonexistent curve on the writing section.
I think I’ll be fine with the reading section. I noticed that the more I focus on reading, the more I stress out on the actual test and make mistakes. I usually get 1-5 wrong on reading, but the curve is fine most of the time, so I think I’ll be okay.
Does anyone have some advice for the ACT? I just randomly decided to signup for it today. I will be taking it in one month from now. Has anyone had a similar experience? I am starting with a 27-28 base score, so I hope to get that up to like a 31/32 by the time I take it.
