I’m concerned with what the colleges I’ve applied to are going to think of my job. I have worked in a tanning salon for the past 2 years. My family owns the business. I plan on majoring in chemical engineering. Are colleges going to think poorly because of where I chose to work for the past couple of years? I didn’t apply to any Ivy League schools, but I am wondering if some of the schools I applied to (UMich, GA Tech, etc.) will look down on me.
I highly doubt they will look down on you for where you work. Most high school students don’t work at world renowned businesses that help society much. They work where they can. (Think fast food restaurants, semi fancy restaurants or stores). They will just think it is impressive that you’ve got your foot in an actual workplace and have a strong work ethic/drive.
I agree with above. I worked at a sporting good store in high school and had no problem getting into undergrad. Stop worrying about something you can’t change and go have some fun if your applications are finished! What’s done is done - it makes no sense to worry now!
