Hillary Clinton (not political) - where does she get her energy?

And veneers. I actually like that gleaming smile, even though it’s obviously enhanced.

I seem to recall reading an article about her tenure as Secretary of State in which they made a point of the fact that she did NOT have a travelling hairdresser/makeup/wardrobe person.

I know people who love their work and work that hard into their 60s and beyond. They amaze me. I’m not one of them.

"I seem to recall reading an article about her tenure as Secretary of State in which they made a point of the fact that she did NOT have a travelling hairdresser/makeup/wardrobe person. "

That was then, this is now. Just sayin’ . . .
Her appearance is definitely more refined of late.

“Her appearance is definitely more refined of late.”

I noticed that, too. Good for her. I bet the yoga and other physical activity helps, too. Cosmetics and Botox can take you only so far.

Sense of humor helps, too.

I would bet good $$ that most of these people see longevity docs. It’s amazing what can be done with balancing hormones, tweaking supplements, etc. Of course I agree that drive is important (and generally innate), and botox and fillers go a long way too.

Since the advent of broadcast TV, it’s been important for our POTUS candidates to have an air of youthfulness, even if they aren’t actually youthful.

It seems unlikely to me that she is doing her own makeup and hair now. Why would she? If I were a campaign donor, I would expect my candidate to hire those jobs out, unless s/he was really good at them and found them relaxing.

Hillary may not have expected an 11 hour grilling, but she surely knew she’d be on TV in the spotlight for hours. That calls for an expert in makeup. And indeed, whoever did her makeup was really, really good.

Another political person who always looks great…is Nancy Pelosi. She’s 75.

Know her stylist is? Her husband. She admits he has much better taste and lets him buy her clothes.

NYmom:

I know what you mean! Look at Madeline Albreight!!! She spoke at my son’s graduation from Tufts this past May, age 78. Energetic, engaged and well spoken. My own mil is 83 and has more energy and stamina that I do. In my case, I’ve had so much stress in my life, I really think it plays a huge role in our energy level. Hilary has had stress too, but it depends on what kind of stress and how you handle it. She must have “people” helping her out too…I personally ‘look’ my age or younger, but have no energy. I internalize everything and it’s done a toll on my body :frowning:

I just read that Marion Ross from “Happy Days” fame is now 87. Yikes!

Not only does she have an amazing amount of energy but she has the patience and self control of a saint. The aplomb that she exhibited during that hearing with some of the lines of inquiry was truly admirable. Sign of a true leader.

Botox? Someone tell me how you can tell. Biden had Botox? As for HC, she has a lot of wrinkles, much more than I do. Isn’t the point of Botox to get rid of them?

I agree that Carly F looks fantastic, and I would kill for her figure. But she is nowhere near HC’s age. Both women are brilliant, knowledgeable, and extremely articulate. I feel shallow talking about appearance, when we don’t do the same for men, at least not as much.

I’m impressed that RBG works out with a trainer.

Whether you like Hillary and Bill or not, whether you get their marriage or not, I do think Hillary has a partnership with Bill where they can discuss things on many levels - an intellectual bond with each other and a sounding board for each other. In moments of stress, I’m sure that intellectual partnership comes in handy, to know someone gets you and has your back.

chocchipcookie, I would have loved to hear MA speak.

“Not only does she have an amazing amount of energy but she has the patience and self control of a saint. The aplomb that she exhibited during that hearing with some of the lines of inquiry was truly admirable. Sign of a true leader.”

You would have to have the patience and self control of a saint to stay with a man who was constantly cheating on you… without going Loretta Bobette on him.

Don’t know if deflecting all blame to others and not taking any responsibility is a sign of a great leader, though. More a sign of a skilled politician, but I suppose it is a sign of the times that this is admirable. She seemed like a very knowledgeable, composed lawyer.

Let’s try to keep away from endorsing candidates here. I’m interested in seeing what people of different political stripes think about the campaign personae of different candidates, especially female candidates.

IMO a female candidate could successfully present the laid-back demeanor of Ben Carson, but I doubt a female candidate could present the demeanor of Donald Trump and be successful. Then again, I didn’t think Trump would be successful so what do I know?

Hillary Clinton is 68. Carly Fiorina is 61. I don’t think of that as an enormous age gap as far as appearance goes. It’s not as if Fiorina is 45 or something.

And the very next day she was looking totally rested!! What? I’d have been incoherent and bedridden the day after the 11 hour grilling.

Carly Fiorina was diagnosed with breast cancer the day before she was going to announce for Senate, and she went through the entire campaign while having treatment, including a bilateral mastectomy. That’s incredible! There’s energy for you.

I really doubt Clinton had Botox or facial She has too many wrinkles, plus when she laughs her face appears to move normally. But I’m no expert.

If you want to see someone who I think did have plastic surgery, take a look at Putin. That man d finitely went through a mid life crisis. His eyes look pulled back like a cat’s compared to some years ago. He has as much vanity as Siberia has snow.
