HKU or HKUST

@Jbauer. UT and HKU are both good schools. UT’s larger than HKU 30000+ kids while HKU has around 21000 (includes undergrads and grads). HKU has a good reputation in Asia and its Medical programs is pretty well known. UT has great science programs from what i know.

I think HKU decisions are out… at least some of them. Since I don’t think I got in. You can check your application status online now.

I apply to HKU HKUST CUHk and POly U. I am currently in the U.S in highschool grade 12 and I am a Hker myself.

I apply for mechanical engineering… I check all my application statues and they are always under consideration. I turn in my application for all the universities on early decision… I am starting to get worried now since theres no emails sent to me for a phone interview…/ </p>

crabbie1234: are you sure the decisions are out because I have no replies eversince I applied in like November?

I think by the end of february the early offers (at least for interviews) will be out!!

…I hope I have a chance for interview= =

i am going to have a hkust interview tmr when i kind of accepted my HKU offer… o.0

What do you mean by kind of accepted your HKU offer?
Oh…is there anyone here who has any info on pharmacy at CUHK and HKU? I sent my application in December and I still have no heard from either one…

hello people, newbie here. i’m an international student who applied to HKU for their food and nutritional sciences program
i’ve just got my offer letter a few weeks ago, anyone else here who applied to HKU?
i checked my application status on the website and it says “under consideration” when i’ve already gotten my offer letter…so…to people who got that…you still have a hope
btw i applied way back in september/october

Hey guys, year 12 here from Hong Kong and I’m planning to apply for BBA in both schools through non-jupas. Doing the IB diploma now, and HKU’s BBA requires at least 36 (out of 45) while HKUST requires 34 for the same course. Also, HKU’s BBA IBGM requires 43 and HKUST’s similar course (GBus) requires 38. However, I’m not sure which university is better. There are people out there saying that HKUST’s business school is relatively better than HKU. What do you guys think?

Also, I kinda messed up my IGCSE’s…any suggestions to increase my chances?

Last but not least, does anyone know the IB requirements for BBA Law in HKU? And if there any other similar courses out there?

THANKS SO MUCH!

huh I applied to both colleges way back in October/November= =
I guess is my 1st choice that makes my application so long … anyone applied for Mechanical Engineering before??

@ Liyixinhua:
um… i suggest you to stop checking your email everyday… don’t think you’ll get any reply (including interview invitation) before May. Some non-jupas who applied for MBBS last year got an interview in July/ August… so…

@ Michaellui11:
apparently BBA law asks for 42/45, at least thats what my friends said. (shes applying for BBA law this year).

@hulk. Pretty much I replied to the office “yes” to my offer.

Just finished a HKUST interview. Done with all HK interviews!

rissah, did you receive a physical letter or an e-mail from HKU? Or others who got in, physical or electronic?

@Breadsoldier. I got both. An email version along with a package from HKU

@90210x: Thanks! I guess there’s no hope for me then D:

@zhuangzi: Nice! What do universities in HK look for during the interview? Any ideas?

@Michael had an UST interview yesterday and a HKU interview ages ago. Apparently the main focus of both interviews is why you want to choose blah blah program, and why hong kong. Plus any career aspirations and/or future plans. To me the interview feels more like an inquisition whether or not you have that sort of “Intellectual curiosity” and such. oh yea, it was quite informal too.

Is only Feb. and I think is still early for the universities to send offers.

@bread soldier
i got an email first (from ienroll) then i got the package much later…
when did you apply?

@michaellui11
did you apply to hku? i could only help with hku interview haha sorry coz i only applied to hku
basically they ask the usual stuff:

  1. self-introduction - i totally flopped this one because i didn’t prepare for this. how stupid to not prepare lol
  2. why did you choose to study in hong kong?
  3. what differentiates HKU’s food & nutritional sciences program (because i applied to the food science program) from other universities’ program?
  4. what do you think you will be achieving in the next 5-10 years?
and lastly they will ask if you have any questions about anything…i guess it’s better to ask a lot about the program…that’s what i did anyway
