HKU or HKUST

Have any one applied for HONG KONG PHD FELLOWSHIP SCHEME for HKUST, and does any one got an interview offer …???
Please reply if there is one or having any related info …

Regards

Thanks zhuangzi and rissah! That was very useful! And very typical HK too, asking about school-related things, unlike universities from other countries.

hey guys,
really stupid question… but…
HOW DO UNIVERSITIES KNOW THAT THE SAT SCORE I SENT THEM THROUGH COLLEGEBOARD IS MINE? JUST BY THE NAME?

my january SAT score came out just today so i sent universities in hong kong my scores thru collegeboard (rushed)…

Did anyone apply EA for HKUST and CUHK and have gotten a decision? I know if you hold a HK passport and applied to HKUST, you’d get admissions around this month (since two ppl in our school got accepted already). I’m just a bit worry about CUHK since even though they say decisions are going to be release from Jan to March (for EA), I haven’t heard of anyone who got accepted to CUHK yet…

Also HKU decisions are out for some. I didnt get in :stuck_out_tongue: But it allows me to have a greater chance of returning to US for college :)

@crabbie1234-
CUHK is horrible at communicating/ easing the nerves of the students who applied. They said acceptances would come out January (or start coming out), but few have gotten in. Ahhh!
At least HKU is good at keeping you updated.
Also @zhuangzi/ rissa- did they actually send you an offer online? Cause I got my acceptance via ienroll but they haven’t sent me a formal offer…Wondering whether it’ll only come through mail. :/

Hi all, since people were worried about getting to CUHK, well I applied after their EA deadline (like a week late) and got an offer letter by email on the day before yesterday i.e 8th. But I got no word about any scholarship, what does that mean? I’m planning to ask them, but though I’ll wait, but I’ll have to reply by Feb 23rd

Rissah, I submitted my application between Christmas and New Year, definitely not early. Where did you apply from as an international applicant?

I just found out that I didnt get into my first choice for HKU…are they still going to consider my 2nd and 3rd choice…

@Verystressed. The online offer is from ienroll. The package will come I would say quite late in my case. I had the paper copies mailed to me around two/three weeks after the ienroll offer.

They acknowledged my HKU application. Now they want me to send them my current marks. I hope this is it…

HKU emailed me about my application. They want me to send them my current marks asap. I hope this is it.

Jabuer24: good luck to you! I hope I will get my offers for my 2nd and 3rd choice.

Good luck to all HKU applicants (: I’m just waiting for HKUST and CUHK decisions to come out!! Apparently they’re admitting people with HK passports first… two people with HK passports got into HKUST and one got into CUHK! So nervous > <

@EngStu01

Hi, Congratulations!! :slight_smile: I got the offer nearly one month before from CUHK. I did have a close contact with CUHK in a period. For your information, since now there only exists small number of admitted applicants and it’s still early for financial aid panel to make the decision of the scholarship, they will only starting to release the scholarship result from the end of April to the successful applicants who accepted the offer. Stay tune. Hope everything work out OK for us! :D

It’s kind of nice and exciting to hear more and more friends over here getting near to HK universities! Seems HKU is going to release all the admission outcome and UST is starting to cope with all the early consideration applicants. All the best everyone!!

I’m thinking that will it be possible to create a post which gather up all admitted students? It will be great to get know each other and we can meet each other when we arriving at HongKong!! :D

Hey, has anyone received received a call for interview for mechanical engineering from HKUST?
I haven’t received so i was worried.
Thnx!

@ verystressed
the mailed copy arrives realllyyyyyyy late. it came the day before i was supposed to answer -_-
so the ienroll acceptance is in a way formal acceptance. so congratulations!!
and btw the package looks so small i started to worry whether it was the rejection letter and i’ve got conned online (rofl worrying too much…but still hope i’ve not got conned 0.0)

@**breadsoldier **
well i think since you submitted around christmas, and assuming you got all documents sent in around january, they will release decisions about 2 months later?
i submitted mine in middle of september (SUPER early, i know), all documents sent in by around October. got interviewed in December, and got accepted in January.
i applied from Malaysia, but i followed the canadian system (ontario)

@DavidLau
Thanks and congratulations to you too. I got in Electronic Engineering, what have you applied for? The problem might be that I have to pay HKD 10,000 in 2 weeks time to accept the offer, but have to wait until April (as you say) for the fin aid offer, I hope the other univs reply by then, so that I can make an informed decision.
Have you applied/ heard from any other universities in HK?

ammar@: I applied for mechanical engineering in HKUST too and I havent received a call either. Are you studying oversea and have a HK passport or you apply as international applicant? I applied as Local Non-Jupas… I am getting worried since I did not get into HKU mechanical engineering

@saumanc
I applied as international applicant.
I know no one for mechanical engineering who has received a call. Most probably hkust are doing with dual degree and business applicant first. So we might recieve a call this month or march.
My stats are 8 A’s in o levels and Gce A level predicted grades of AAA*A. My sat 1 score is 2030 and total score of 2240 in sat 2 subject tests out of 2400. So can u chance me.
Thnx 4 the rply and gud luk!!!

Hello everybody!

What’s the ienroll…? I’ve been waiting to hear from HKU too :(
