@Vania: Ienroll (international enroll? correct me if im wrong) is an email account which HKU uses to contact prospective students for admissions offers and stuff. If you’re going to get an offer from HKU, it’s going to come from ienroll

I applied to CUHK mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, I am going to get in, am not I?

@EngStu01

Thanks. Yes. Unlike HKU and UST which their financial aid package will usually come along with the admission offer, CUHK will only release the result of scholarship for those applicants who accepted the admission offer and paid the required fee. Thus, you have to really think about it. Because the admission offer only valid for two weeks (Unless you get your other preferred offer in this period, it will better for you to make the decision :D), you may consider it as an investment :)

Since I’m not interested in HKU. I applied for CUHK and UST both in Computer Science. I’m waiting for UST too, but I’m more intend to study at CUHK now. It’s unique college system, better campus life and tons of minor study options really impressed me very much :D

@rissah

Hi!! I’m from Malaysia too! Did you study at international school? Congratulations for your offer!

@vanialiu
i think zhuangzi had just answered you there.have you tried checking your application online? (although the online checking system isnt as updated as it should be)
hope you’ll hear from hku soon though (:

@davidlau
hello (: congratulations to you too!! no i did not study in an international school…i finished high school in government school then went on to canadian matriculation programme. how about you?
it’s a pity you’re not interested in hku, or i’ll be seeing you there! haha

Hey guys,
Did anyone get offers from UST/CUHK/HKU for business or economics/finance program?

Also, for HKU, if you applied for scholarship, does the offer arrive late?
HKU may still give me an offer, without the scholarship right?

Thanks!

@rissah

I see. I wound up my studies in chinese independent high school with UEC and I took SAT + IELTS too. HKU do have very comprehensive science program, what an awesome offer you got :)

As I will only consider Computer Science as my major study, CUHK and UST have more solid and attractive study curriculum for that (From my own point of view). So I didn’t apply for HKU. I do know some friends from Malaysia who studying at HKU now, will I able to find you at Facebook? :D

Hi guys, I am new to this forum :D

I am applied as a non jupas this year and I recieved an admisison from HKUST (BBA)
I am currently wondering whether my stats are good enough for HKU BEcon and Finance (1st choice), Quant Finance (2nd Choice) and BBA (not IBGM, 3rd Choice).

my stats are…

GPA: 3.34, 3.53, 3.96, 3.54 (grade 9, 10, 11, 12)
SAT: highest combimed 2060 (Cr:650, Math: 720, Writign: 690).
SAT II: MathIIC 740, Biology M: 710, Chem: 690
AP: Calculus BC (AB Subscore)- 5(5), Economics (Macro/micro)- 4/4, Psychology: 5

ECA
MUN, Debate Team, Jazz Band, BBall Team, Student Council

This year, for my mid term, I got 3.54 for my GPA (unweighted) and I am taking 3 AP courses and 2 honors.

Thanks guys!

Hey guys, another thing to ask! I was looking into CUHK’s faculty of law, and they provided a double-degree option with BBA, which is like my dream combination. However, I know that this course is very competitive, so around how many IB points do I need to actually be considered for this course? Also, to anyone who has actually chose to do a double degree of law + something else, is it a tough choice?

THANKS A LOT! :D

KHKHKHKH,
Where are you? Are you from the U.S?

@katolalachoi
I got accepted to HKU, but I don’t know which major yet. Their faculty first accepts you, then decided on which major. Wish they’d make the decision before they actually sent out the email.
@rissah-
thanks! are you going to do a college tour?

@ liyixinhua

No, I live in HK (going to an Itnl School) and I am a non-jupas applicant

ammar@: I think you have a solid chance to get offer from HKUST because your SAt score is very high! My testing scores are low and my school GPA is high but I have more activities related to Engineering… I dont know if the HK universities care about experiences anyway= =or just test score/ If they only loook at test scores then I have a low chance of getting in.

any news from the universities???

@davidlau
wow i actually think UEC is much tougher compared to govt. syllabus, but i guess it prepares you well. you took SAT as well? were you planning to apply to an american uni?
ahh i see. yes i think hkust and cuhk would excel more in that than hku. i only applied to hku with just one pure motive- because hku has the course i’m looking for and hkust doesnt. so it was easier for me to decide haha

@verystressed
i did a college tour with google earth hahaha
no i’m not going to do a college tour, my mum went over to check it out though, and she said it’s a pretty green campus (that matters a lot to me) and the dorm rooms are standard HK sizes (as in, pretty small). you can find vids showing the hku surroundings on youtube, so i just relied on that for my “college tour”
btw did you get accepted to the faculty of science?

@saumanc
for HKU, especially if you’re an international student, your activities matter a lot. i know because i have pretty okay results (quite average compared to many in my year)…but pretty good activities to back the results up. and i got an offer! blowing my own horn but whatever
maybe interview matters to but i think my interview kind of sucks so i think my activities really helped me.

@Rissah. I got to admit, HKU probably does focus more about your extracirrics… Apparently one major factor for scholarship is your extracirricular activities. The better they are, the more distinguished you’ll be in their eyes. (That’s what they said on my offer)

@rissah-lol. I’ll probably go sometime soon (hopefully within the next month). and no, I got accepted to the faculty of business.

@Rissah I apply es Local Non-Jupas because I have HK Permanent ID Card. I think scores matter a lot more than activities because I already have a lot of activities related to Engineering in school but low SAT test scores ( I meant lower than average) with high GPA in school… my highschool’s API score is very high in the top five… and I got rejected from HKU … Now I am very worried about my second choice Civil Engineering because my first choice was Mechanical Engineering

I can’t login to check my status so I sent an e-mail to them ask for help. They just sent a reply to me said my application is still pending. What does that mean?

I’m an international.

@zhuangzi
i think they emphasize on that even more if youre applying for scholarship, but the hku website did say that for international applicants, it will be case by case and extracurricular activities are important. i wish i could apply for a scholarship…but cant. you did a great job on yours though!

@verystressed
ahh do tell us how it is then when you do visit (:
i would love to take a look at the dorms…
wow i’ve heard from a lot of people that business at hku is very very good. you’ve gotten a really good offer!

@saumanc
well i’m not so sure for local applicants then…but what i heard is, the competition for local applicants is fierce, so i think you would have to have stellar results AND good activities to back you up.
hope you’ll get in though! would be great to have another person to know in the faculty of science :D

@march10success2
hello, which uni are you referring to? hku or hkust?
but generally if the uni says an application is pending, that means they either haven’t got to your application, or is still considering about it. don’t freak out too much, sometimes the decision comes out a bit later

@ everyone going to HKU:
have you guys decided which dorm to stay in?

@ Rissah. Probably going to shoot for dorms that are either near the Flora Ho Sports center or the ones in main campus. Maybe SJC, Suen, Swire are some top choices?
