HKU or HKUST

@The Grand

Thanks for the reply :slight_smile: I’ll just hope someone can give me their spot then. But either way, if I end up going for Econ& finance, is it impossible to change my major there? Do you know whether or not getting a degree in HK will make it harder to get a job in America if I come back or not? It’d be great if you could let me know, thanks!

This is truly getting ridonkulous. still no response from HKU and HKUST… many people who applied for E&F already got accepted…

ok this is gonna sound like a dumb question, but im asking it for clarity’s sake anyways.

Its my understanding that you apply for only BBA at first and then depending on whether you get it or not, you then choose your major in the second year of study?

Im asking about HKUST btw, and would really appreciate some clarification.

Hi, did anyone get accepted to CUHK business-related major?

Also, if you were accepted by one of the three schools (CUHK, HKU, HKUST) are you notify by email or do you have to check the admission status by yourself?

for those accepted by HKU, did any of you received an letter asking to send certified copy(IELTS) before an offer to be made?

^ no, I just got a letter saying that I had to get X amount of marks in my english course as a condition to my offer. Of course, it might be different because I am a non-JUPAS local student studying in an international school in HK.

Has anyone got any word for Engineering from HKU or HKUST. I got accepted to CUHK for Elec Eng. but got no word from the other two. Also did anyone get contacted for an Interview if you applied for Engineering? Because I heard that some programs do not require an interview at HKUST, I’m wondering if Engineering is one of them.
Getting really apprehensive. And what are the exam stats of any guys who got into Enginnering?

I was given a conditional offer to UHK-engineering. and, yes, I had a telephone interview two weeks or so before.
sat 2210, uw gpa 3.94

A friend of mine got into HKUST for Chemical engineering, he did not have to give an interview

what was the condition?

Both are equally good.The choice will depend on campus and international flavour. Both of these are slightly higher in HKUST.

guys could you help me decide between the two? ā€œBA Economics&Finance at HKU or BBA at HKUSTā€ I have to submit a reply by the 22nd!

@cayne92: do u mind sharing with me yr friend’s academic results n when did he apply for it?

Was it a conditional offer?

I really hope to gauge my chances for chem eng. Thx. :-)

Hi, i applied to HKU before xmas and i havnt heard anything from them till now…bt seems like most of the ppl here have gotten there offers, does that mean that i am on the waiting list? O.O and what is ienroll? i only know that u can check ur app status by using ur app nr, bday n passport nr…HKU didnt give me any ienroll or account thingys…

@flamingboy: Sorry I just realized that I do know the conditional offer requirements for JUST BBA - it was my third choice and the grades you need are AAB, same as BBA(GBus) so I guess all BBAs are the same. I’m doing UK A Levels too. good luck!

guys, if you are offered an engineering course in both HKU and HKUST, which one would you go?
Some people say HKU and others say HKUST, answers are conflicting…
Can someone who are really aware of these two university answer this question pls??
very important!!
Thank you

@kevobest, I’d say HKUST. In China, CUHK is known for social science, HKU is known for natural science (medicine and dental) and HKUST is known for technology and engineering stuff…i know that HKU may have higher ranking then HKUST worldwide, but majorly wise, HKUST is definitely better at the engeeniring…

The reason HKU is my 1st choice and HKUST my 2nd is because HKU isnt as sciency as HKUST… :P

But then again, HKU is the the city. So you might wanna consider its location…

@ Jy93

T.T you aren’t the only one…I havent heard a tiny tiny single thing from them…

@hievery01

His Academic result is 4 A’s and a B in AS level(British patterned) dont know about his O level results and his conditional offer for chemical engineering was A B B B

@Chenie

thx… Now I need to persuade my parents!! lol!!
I think location is not that of a issue, coz HK is quite small and I heard that transport system is superb…
but is the conditional offer normally quite low??
I mean to people to who got conditional offer, what were the minimum grades that UST wants? anyway thx chenie!
