I sent them my term 1 transcript and I didn’t select them on my PSI. And as for the strike, I heard the teachers are sending marks to the ministry no later than Mar.28. Is it okay to tell what your average is? like in a range?
Thanks

Thanks for all these information. I just have a few more question.
Do the universities in Hong Kong require you to send them a final transcript at the end of the year? What do they look for in an applicant? I thought they really look into academics. My friend got into HKU with a 98% avg. Did you get any interviews from HKUST? I have not heard a single word from any of the uni. I’m feeling anxious now…

lol i didnt even send anything yet, im waiting for the term 2 transcript (which is better, maybe around 87 or 88) Also im taking like 2 online courses

@linsanity
ic. i think u ask the online teachers to send in marks before april 6. Then i think u should select them in the PSI, i don’t know if they would include ur term 2 mark in ur transcript. btw which school are you in?

Wow, are you guys all from Canada applying to HKU?

@bemybfkj
You are in the same situation as me. I’m waiting for my offer too.
My friend got into Bachelor of Arts with around the same average as yours (87%~88%) with the a moderate amount of community service and some extracurriculars. She did get a lot of honour roll though lol.

Me and my friend sent in the transcripts along with a letter that they are having a strike. They accepted it just fine so good luck
I’m applying for the joint degree of BA&BEd-Lang in English and still haven’t gotten any reply yet. They said in the website that they will start sending it from February through May but there are some people who heard it from August so I’m not particularly sure…I heard from someone that you have a moderate chance of getting in if you an around 85% average or better-in each individual academic subjects. So your marks are looking pretty good but whether you will get in or not depends on the competitiveness of the programme you are applying for. I don’t know about BBA.

@ smarthead
NYU doesn’t require SAT if you do the IB. But I submitted my SAT and got 2200 but I didn’t submit any subject tests.

Well to resolve your issue you could say that you are currently taking a short course/summer course/winter course whatever they call it in you country at a university.

In reality you can mention going to uni and you won’t be classified as a tranfer because you haven’t complete a semester yet…

Hope this helps.

Additionally I think that as overseas students HKU and the other HK unis will alert you earlier than August to give you time to process visas, halls, etc.

@jgeelong
have u got any offer from hku or hkust?

Not yet… They said they would get back to me in April. That’s when I asked them if it was true that some people get a response in August and they told me that this generally only applies to local applicants and wait listed applicants

Been lurking around for quite a while; first time posting.

I am an information technology student in India. I recently realized that my interests lie elsewhere; economics to be precise.

After deciding my destination, Hong Kong, I applied to three universities there.

CityU (Masters in Finance), HKU (Economics), and HKUST(Economics).

I had a phone interview from CityU 2 weeks ago. I got an offer from HKU (no mention of scholarship in the email?) a few days ago.

HKUST has not replied yet. But, because of the later deadline of HKUST, I was able to provide more information (like exam results). So, I expect an offer from there.

Now, I have 2 main questions:

1) When does HKUST give results for masters admissions?
2) If I get offered places at both HKUST and HKU, which should I choose? (for masters of economics)

I’ve scoured the entire internet for resources. Most of them have compared business/finance but none have specifically spoken about social sciences/economics. Any input will be most appreciated

I am an international student from INDIA i applied to HKUST engineering in mid december havent heard a word from them yet most other people are being called for interviews etc. nothing from me. I applied using my SAT score as the basis of admission my stats are

SAT I 1830(690 math+570+570)
SAT II maths level 2 740 , Physics 730 ,Chemistry 730.

I graduated from 12th std last year and got 80%
my 10th std boards exams 95%.

decent EC’s

hi danesh2793…even i applied to hkust this year but quite late…around mid feb…i have 95.4% in XII(cbse) and 95.4% again in X(icse)…and i am applying with the marks only…no sat…
i asked them yesterday about my outcome n they told me that their university is getting lot of applications this time…they said my grades were really good but they are getting really competitive applications and need some time to consider them…so they asked to wait for some time…!
(which is the worst part though…:D…)

@ LanykLint

i will definitely choose hku.

i dont have any information about the economics but my senior there told me that the economics and other social major are the most favorite major there

even, i choose science but if i get hku, i will choose hku because the diversity, programme etc in hku are really interesting , i think

@candle89

You mean to say that economics is a popular subject in HKU?

I was told that HKU has a class size of about 150 and HKUST has a class size of about 80~ Is smaller better or…?

And lastly, since I don’t believe I got a scholarship from HKU, what should I do if I get one from HKUST?

Is HKUST + Scholarship < HKU?

Thanks for taking the time out to reply. I really appreciate it.

hello,

i had applied before the 29th of december i think that makes me elligible for early decision or smthn and i should get my decision before 31st march.Thing is i got accepted to Purdue University and shall be mostly heading there but a decision from them would be good.

@studentindian. Did u send ur 11 th transcripts or 12th preboard ones

well as far as i know early offers are given if you have exceptional grades…they have nothing to do with early submission of application

@coollad122 i completed my standard 12 last year…so i have my official cbse marks…

early offers are given if u manage to complete your application before the 29th of december
