Hello,
I am having a phone interview for The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Finance and Accountancy on 11th of April. Right after the interview there will be a writing exam- I have to write an essay about a topic given by the interviewers. There will be 30 minutes for writing it before sending it by email to them. I presume that there will be general questions on the interview like “Why…”, interests, plans for future etc. But I don’t have any idea about the writing part. Does anybody know on what kind of topics I am going to write? BTW, I got a conditional offer from HKUST School of Humanities and Social Science with scholarship. What are my chances to achieve the same with The HK PolyU? Thank you !!!

Any updates??? P.S Happy Easter!

any international student with ib got condition offer from hkust ?

I am unsuccessful for my first choice at HKU Literature and Law still waiting for 2nd Arts and 3rd Journalism from HKU and something from HKUST

anyone here applied for national university of singapore(nus) or nanyang technological university(ntu)?

Applied to NUS!

any updates?
what are your stats?

Nope. PMing them to you.

hi, I’m a high school student from Indonesia. I’ve been admitted to hkust for the dual degree program and the risk management and business intelligence program. I also have been admitted to hku faculty of engineering with 120k entrance scholarship. in Singapore I get the sembcorp scholarship to NTU for electrical and electronics engineering. the scholarship is very generous as they cover everything, but the downturn is the six year bond with the sponsoring company or it’s subsidiaries.

now, I’m in a real dilemma. I really don’t know which one I should take. I really need your opinions and suggestions. there really is nobody around I can discuss with, so please help me.
thanks^^.

one more thing : does anyone know bout the second major in hku ? actually I made a mistake in choosing engineering. I did so because of the influence of my parents, teachers and friends. what I really want is to major in finance or sth like that because I think such field is very lucrative, especially in hk.

so do you think that I can switch my major, or the only solution is to take second major in finance ?

firstly congrats for all your offers…
you have been offered a place in hku and ntu for engineering which is not a priority for u…i just wanna say do not go by what your family and friends think…in the end its your life and you have to study there…so whats the point of wasting both time and money and studying something which is not a top priority for you…
just take your time and make the final call
and yes…6 year bond can be a bit difficult to manage…

Hi everyone just an update. I was accepted into HKU for the LLB this spring. It was a very long acceptance process but I am so happy. I am from the Southern Hemisphere so I already had my completed IB diploma. I got a 38/42 the minimum requirement and did not need to complete an interview. I also had the process increase by sending in acceptance letters from the USA indicating that I needed to reply by May 1st. This really works. So to those waiting good luck.

P.S. Check out my blog: WardrobeUprising

yeah bit the stupid thing I did is that I did not apply for qf. so, based on what I have on the table here, which one do you think I should take ? and do you happen to know which engineering major is most closely related to finance ? thanks.

btw, are you going to hku/hkust and for what major ?

well frankly speaking i do not know much about finance and stuff
and unlike you i am really interested in engineering and its the first option for me
but i can say that if you accept ntu make sure you have enough information about the company sponsoring your scholarship or the various places they can keep you at coz 6 years is not a small period of time
i always wonder about these bonds and stuff that if you want to continue studies after your ug studies…like masters pg etc from a different country or a different univ…what u do in such case?
please let me know if you any idea about this
and yes i have applied to hkust only…not hku…to school of engineering…and they allow you to choose your major subjects only after 1 year of studies and not at the time of admission…and i have applied to both nus and ntu as well…with computer science as major subject

hey bemybfkj, did you hear from any universities yet? bc hk?

Is any one else still under consideration?
I applied in November, I went for an interview in January but no news so far :/

hi studentindian, bout the scholarship thing, the six year bond is with the sembcorp company or it’s subsidiaries. they are working in the field of water supplies, energy, and construction. it’s quite a big company, I guess. actually I don’t mind working for them if only I were taking business or finance or accountancy instead of engineering. I know a scholar who has become the CEO of this company branch in Shanghai, China. but to be an engineer in this company is rather monotone and not lucrative, I think. however, for the last two years, sembcorp scholars have been exempted from the six year bond because the company was facing an economic downturn and didn’t need any employees at that moment. but idk whether the same thing is going to happen by the time I graduate. bout post graduate study, we can ask for bond deferment. so we gonna have to serve the bond right after completing our pg. study.

@linsanity
Stil under consideration for both CU and UST (i’m gonna go crazy!! lol), i applied to poly U and was invited for an interview, but i can’t arrange a flight back on time and i have school, so they told me they’re reviewing my case and will reply me. What about you? any updates?
