HKU or HKUST

@xm9413
best of luck to u!! Im sure it will be no problem. Maybe we will even see each other on campus in september! Btw r u applying as an international applicant?

@rifleak47 Are you an international student? I have also applied to NTU but haven’t heard anything yet.

@faussy
Yes, I applied as an international student from mainland China coz I’m not gonna take Gaokao. Where do you come from?

@xm9413
I applied through non jupas but im frm malaysia. Have u ever been to hk? It would be nice to know someone who is going there, then i wont feel so lonely. Haha

hey guys,
ive got accepted to HKU in like Feb but I still havent done my visa yet because I am waiting for other universities to reply.

Is there a dealine for the visa?

@faussy
I’ve been to HK a few times. It’s a fantastic cosmopolitan city! Luckily it’s not ao crowded as I had expected…

@xm9413
oh goodness! Not crowded?? The last time i went, which was in december, it was saturated with people! I have never seen so many people at one place in my life!

Is it possible to change majors once admitted into a 3 year program at HKUST? Within the school of course, like Chem to Biochem, Elec Eng to Mech Eng, ACCT to finance?

@faussy
Maybe I’ve already got used to the crowded place, like many cities in my country. BTW why do u choose HKU?

@xm9413
well mainly its because its one of the best unis in the world. Known for its world class education. Plus it doesnt hurt that its much less expensive than other unis in the world. Its also really good in humanities.

Btw what abt u?

Is there anyone studying in CUHK? I have applied for IBBA in Cuhk. my a level exams have started but i havent received any offer yet. so i am kinda worried.
My grades are:
economics a
accounting a
mathematics a
applied ict a
ielts 7.0
what about my chance getting into cuhk with these scores? is it possible for me to get in? i received an offer for scholarship from cityu hk and i have to pay before may 28. but im still waiting for cuhk. so does anyone have an idea when will cuhk issue the offer? thank u so much!

@ameliaivana
u should probably email them. Frm what i have read in the forums, most would tell u to email the admissions stating u have an offer from another uni. Btw nice results! Hope this helps

@faussy
For its good reputation in the world, interesting opportunities outside class and low cost as well.

@xm9413
virtual high 5. Haha

Would you take a full scholarship CityU business over no-scholarship HKUST science?

Also, if your first degree choice is successful, will the second and third ones automatically NOT be considered anymore?

@revealspec
if i were u, i would go to hkust. For one thing its ranking is much higher than cityu and it is really good in business. And no, ur other choices will still be considered. Congrats on ur offers!

Thnx for your reply. it’s just that i read that science majors at hkust is not as respected as engineering or business… which seems a lil ironic since hkust is science + tech :p

@faussy
yap! i got the offer this morning hehehe thx! btw i dont think that my marks are good enough. i messed up with my a2 level so it might goes down :(
