For IB, Does Mathematics SL and HL are required? I’m not good in Mathematics so I have been taking Math studies, and my predicted grade is 35. But I took BM HL and predicted grade is pretty good. I’m really worried…

I was accepted at HKUST ! It is awesome !!! (I am from France)

@alexsegond
Congrats! What’s your course?

Hi Mukul,

Note that HK is financial hub rather than IT hub. I believe the best paid IT job in HK are inside iBank IT department.

HKU in general is ranked higher locally, however HKUST in general is more reputable in worldwide/US academic circle due to research emphasis and also finance industry due to their strength in business school (MBA/EMBA etc) over other HK university.

However, for PG program, departmental strength should be considered and I think HKUST is higher ranked.

HKer speaks Cantonese, but mainland Chinese and Taiwanese speaks Mandarin
For job hunting reason, learning Mandarin is crucial but Cantonese is good but not must as most HKers speak decent English but mainland Chinese do not

Business and management, I didn’t get the global business.

@alexsegond
That’s great! What is your predicted grades?

Hi guys, after reading several replies, I can’t help setting up an account to join the conversation! I applied CUHK/HKU/HKUST early rounds, but I still haven’t heard back from schools yet!
I am very panic and really hope that I can get into at least one of them. I am Chinese but currently studying in America. I heard mainland students are usually very competitive if I applied as an international student. Does anyone is in the same situation as I am? I don’t have a decent SATI score, but I do have competitive SAT Subjects scores and AP scores. Will it help? Does anyone who’s in American System get in already?

Pretty much A’s. I took the fast track.
