i was asked to attend an either a face-to-face or a skype interview about two weeks ago. i do have SAT I scores, but chose not to send to universities because it wouldn’t help me at all. I don’t remember it precisely, but it’s about 1850-ish.</p>

<p>oh wait that message was for someone else. But anyway i hav a few things to say</p>
<p>Firstly im a local, non-chinese resident living in hong kong. As such, i do not speak cantonese (although there are other internationals who have learnt the language, it is still not within my grasp). I went to a HKU engineering summer course and found it TERRIBLE. The people only wanted to speak the local dialect, all the local public announcements were held in cantonese and, above it all, there were some professors in the civil labs WHO COULDNT SPEAK ENGLISH. I was so disturbed by that, and the state of the severely old-looking dorms. That i decided then and there that no matter what, i was not going to go to HKU. </p>
<p>I applied to hku and in their interview, they asked me only about where else i applied. and they asked if i had a hKUST offer. I said yes. they asked me if i would go there even if HKU gave me an offer. I said yes. They still gave me an offer… I declined. I have a HKUST offer and went to the university recently for an admitted students reception for school of engineering (for local international students only) and was very happy with both the university, the people and the atmosphere. MUCH better than HKU. </p>
<p>So, in summary. If you do not speak cantonese. Do not go to HKU. PICK hkust there are much better international-friendly areas and people and you are more likely to have a good time. Message me if you want any additional information, i have a lot of experience with both. Exams comming up soon so i may reply slowly :/</p>
<p>FYI, I applied because my mom wanted me to =.= waste of an application to hKU.</p>
<p>Does anyone know when HKUST will be sending out their decisions for business and management? I’m a main round applicant. (Send my app in on 16 Nov). Still haven’t received any response from them.</p>

people in my school with high grades are still waiting for a response (except those for global biz) so do not lose faith. It can take from now up till the end of July i would say. Because they put the online accomodation system online mid-august so if u dont hav an offer by then… u wouldnt be able to apply for housing which is stupid. So i think before August.</p>
