Congratz Applepie95 , I am From Tunisia , HKUST Engineering . where are you from ?? what do you love about hkust ?? any scholarships ?? I hope to see you in August Inshallah

@elisexia That sucks

Did you apply to CUHK?

One of my friends got in to HKU journalism with like a 95% and above average…

@vowlroar I did apply to CUHK’s journ. & comm. but as a late applicant… Hope for the best!
When did ur friend get the offer? I think that your friend must have impressive academic performance as well as in other aspects too!

@elisexia I think she just got her offer recently
She’s bloody smart…

What are you grades like, if you don’t mind me asking?

Everyone going to HKUST, search up the HKUST UG Class of 2017 on Facebook to talk to others going to the same uni. Same thing available for HKU as well.

Graduating class of 2017 official FB page http://www.facebook.com/groups/139217212930979/

@vowlroar I am taking SG Alevel, I got AAA/A for the H2/H1. GP D & PW A. (5 Distinction)
Btw, I worked as an intern Journalist in a local chinese newspaper in 2011 and now having an internship in another local chinese newspaper. I am also a student correspondent for a local chinese newspaper when I was in school. FYI, these are the only 3 major newspaper in sg.

@elisexia nice!
do you think the standards to get in to CUHK is much more lenient? i know for sure that HKU is all about stats and numbers but i have heard that CUHK is much more focused on students’ ethics, personality and profile as a whole… any truth to this?
good luck on CUHK, btw!!

@vowlroar can’t really comment on this, I, myself is just a late applicant. (No offer yet, got to wait as well)
I guess so, but in terms of ranking for the course itself, I would go for CUHK. Well, from a bigger picture, HKU still stands out more.

@elisexia all i can say is good luck!!!
i wish you all the best!

@vowlroar Thanks! Hopefully!

@elisexia remember to update us when you get results! :)

Huh live in HK if you’re applying Law or Medicine go for HKU. Otherwise I know the other departments vary, some of the arts seem pretty mediocre, wouldn’t go there for non typically ‘Asian’ subjects (you know what I mean folks…)
HKUST - Seems pretty nice, good for more ‘techy’ stuff I guess.
CUHK - Don’t know much about it, have some friends who go there if you want to get into the debating scene :P, I think they have a nice music department according to my flute teacher. Seems respectable enough, pretty nice campus and lots of surrounding residential houses.
(Other HK unis)
PolyU - Both my parents work here, they have a fantastic fashion / design department, the other departments vary, it has a decent but pretty small campus. It’s not the best in HK by a long mile but there are some great departments.

Not going to HK unis unless I can avoid it, cause of personal reasons
But in general HK is a pretty nice place to apply to if you don’t mind pretty small spaces, crowds and lots of noise, and if you live in crowded areas a lot of pollution. If you like good food, a busy atmosphere, shopping, quite a thriving social atmosphere, it’s a good place to go!
Sadly no Jackie Chan does not pop out of every other corner but thats another story ;)

Hi. Has anyone enrolled for HKU mfin 2013??

Does anyone know when the offers for late application for business management at HKUST will come out?

Hey everyone, it’s been long since i last commented on this post
well I am joining HKU for UG Engineering in september 2013, is any one here enrolling in HKU, no matter in what program, in september 2013?

Got an offer from CUHK for Journalism & communication ytd evening, as a late applicant.
May I know is it easy to apply for scholarship??

@elisexia CONGRATS!! how did everything go? any advice for future applicants?

@vowlroar , no interview and nothing… But I did sent them a copy my of NTU and NUS offer letters. I guess that helps a little

I accepted NUS’s offer, but pretty worried about the fees, studying in HK is way much much more exp than in sg. (In sg, govt help to subsidize the fee & you can get interest-free loans as well)
Still can’t decide to keep CUHK’s offer or not, I still wish to get into HKU Journalism more.
Will consider if hard to get scholarships, dont wish to increase my family’s financial burden.
Studying in NUS, I guess I dont even nid my parents to fund my education.
