HKU or HKUST

@Imhtcsq, thanks a lot

I was going through my offer letter in detail including the fine print at the end and I found the following clause:

If you receive another HKUST program offer, and would like to accept this new offer, your deposit payment made previously will apply to
the new program acceptance. You are not required to make another deposit payment. You should advise us of your decision on the new
offer and rank the priority of acceptance in the application system. Note that at any one time, you may accept no more than one firm offer

So as long as my existing offer isn’t firm, and it is not, I think I can accept it and still my engineering application will be considered and they could give me an engineering offer.

@atbangalore If you receive another HKUST program offer, and would like to accept this new offer, your deposit payment made previously will apply to the new program acceptance. -so if you receive more than one offer, you chooses between two offers and pay for one only? i never knew this:))))) well than you can be considered for both science and engineering:

@mingmingforwin oh gosh… really? do you know anyone that got accepted/rejected? what are their grades like? :frowning: thanks!

sorry this is probably irrelevant for this post but what about cuhk? is their journalism program hard to get in?

Yup sent a mail to the HKUST contact given on the offer letter and confirmed that I could get an engineering offer too.

I just received a conditional offer from department of economics of CUHK!:)))))) i have to get 36 or above in my final exam. but it says 36/42 instead of 36/45…does that mean that the uni won’t accept bonus points? (eg final grade of 37= 35+2 bonus pt?)

did anybody get an email from HKUST yesterday? friend of mine received an offer yesterday and i received an email stating:
Thank you for applying to our University. The university has reviewed your application and we wish to give you an update on the progress. Despite competition is keen this year, we see that you are of great potentials so we wish to further review your application for admission. We anticipate that your application result will be available between April to July. Please understand that your application is still under full consideration for admission. Once your application result is available, you will receive an email notification from us and your application status online at https://admission.ust.hk/admission</a> will be updated instantly.

“Unofficially” accepted today. I say that because the International Admissions Director sent me an email that they would give me an offer once they got my SAT I/II hard copies. SO DANG EXCITED.

And just for reference.
SAT I: 2230 (CR- 800, M-730, W-700) 2300 superscore (CR-800, M-770, W-730)
SAT II: World- 800, Math 2-740, Bio M-780
AP’s: World-5, Calc AB-5, Stat-3, Bio and Chem this year.

Praise God!

Congratz!! Iboss1223. I have heard that HKUST or HKU starts issuing offers in late April. Did you get into HKU or HKUST? Which faculty? I noticed you are also accepted by McGill! That’s very cool! I’m currently wait-listed by both McGill and HKU :(

Does anyone know the hardest and easiest course to take in HKU? Just wondering haha… And which one of these are harder: Journalism, English or Teaching degree

Hard-EST is definetely medicine… people with IB 45 are often rejected. Second hardest is likely law?
as for the courses u mentioned, no clue which of those is harder.

@darthcat thank you! but do you think those are really competitive courses? :\ i’m worried about my app next year…

Hi Feligs,

I got an offer for MSGO and I have accepted it. Have you accepted your offer?

Hey Sekarp, yes I did, will pm you!

Hey,

Does anyone know the chances of HKU accepting someone even if they miss the conditional offer by a LITTLE bit? My offer is 43 IB points, but I probably will get 41 or 42, and I’m wondering about my chances of negotiating myself in.

@vowlroar , I applied for Journalism in HKU under fast track, done with the interview in early Dec. (No news from them until I got my NUS offer mid-Apr)

The faculty admission office told me they accepted me, but pending for university’s admission office approval to issue me an offer. But just in the afternoon, they told me the admission office can issue no more offer as of now. But they have no idea, when they can issue more offers. Yet, I am not rejected. (Really Sucks!!!)

I have a two internships in local news industry.
My final SG A Level grades are AAA/A A(PW) D(GP)

I have no idea why they did not accept me.

FYI, I got offer from both NUS & NTU.

@elisexia That sucks. Nonetheless, I was wondering why on earth would you want to join HKU when you have offers from NUS and NTU in the same major?

@thunderboltsid Because in sg, the journalism courses are not really good and I wish to go somewhere different. NUS and NTU are more of my back up plans.

Hello!
I was a regular applicant (submitted my app on the 1st of January) and I got accepted to HKUST B&M very early on in the process i.e. 6th of March. And I had my interview just a week before that on 27th February…However I do know people from my school who are still waiting on their decisions as they come out till July.
I am international student, and will most likely end up going to HKUST…any other internationals going to HKUST too (and especially to B&M)?
