HKU or HKUST

@tnadnepkrad haha sure! No problem :slight_smile: I am glad it helped! Hope you have fun in singapore!

Yes that’s right
I applied through the non jupas stream as a local student
Actually I’m still waiting for hku and cuhk and I’m having a dilemma because I don’t know if its a good idea to study in hk when I have the opportunity to attend decent Canadian universities

How well do you have to do in your second semester even though you have gotten a firm offer from HKU?
In a 4.0 scale would a minimum of 3.0 be okay?
And would one C or D be okay too?

@hk12345 if it’s a firm offer, you dont have to worry abt ur performance in 2nd semester at all! They wont look at it :)

@mingmingforwin
really!? are you sure? but don’t you have to send your final transcript to hku? even though they get the transcript, they won’t care what’s on it at all?

@hk12345
i don’t think the university will care about the final score unless you fail your final year

@hk12345 haha yeah that’s right unless you fail the semester! And anyways congratz u got an offer! I am still waiting for schools to give me a result

Oh btw guys, does hkust still have 3 year program or did they change to 4 year program?

Does anyone know the HKU Journalism department acceptance rate and whether or not it’s competitive to get in?

do you mind if i ask what your friend’s grades were? and what are your grades?

@vowlroar journalism is super competitive. They only take 30 students!

BOTH HKU and HKUST have all switched to the 4 year syllabus, or more (i.e. med, dentistry). 3 year system is now outdated and only used in the UK

Hey guys, got accepted into HKUST for 4 year science program. The conditional offer was for 1A* and 2As among Physics, Math and Chem in A Levels. Should be a cake walk for me. But my engineering application is still under consideration. Will I still be considered for the engineering course after I accept my science offer and can I forfeit my science seat for an engineering seat after paying the deposit? Please reply soon.

@atbangalore you won’t be considered for engineering if you accept your offer from science program. and i don’t think you can forfeit your science seat for an engineering after paying the deposit. engineering department will consider you as an applicant after you turn down the offer from the science program.

@Imhtfcsq, so I cannot get simultaneous offers in both science and engineering?

@atbangalore
Hey mate! What were your predicted grades on the transcript?

I prefer engineering to science. Should I give up my Science seat in hope for an engineering one when it is this late in the admission season? I don’t know if I should take the risk.

@ 11401994, my stats are on post #4992 of this thread

@atbangalore
well the university only gives one offer at a time, but if you want you can email the university and tell them how you feel about your offer:)

@atbangalore
but looking at your stat, you’ll still be a competitive applicant in engineering as well! just follow your heart!:p
