And has anyone (international student) in the past got any offers in august, mid or late august?
Hello all,
I am an international student currently residing in the United States. I am really interested in attending HKU, HKUST or CUHK (Chinese University of Hong Kong). Since online information on the quality of students admitted is scarce, I wanted to get other people’s insights on my chances. So here are my Stats:
SAT:
1910 ( The low end of the spectrum , but I should be able bump this up at least 100-150 points come December)
SAT subject :
I haven’t taken any SAT Subject test yet, but based on practice tests, my scores are probably going fluctuate around these numbers:
SAT Math 1: 730-790
SAT Physics: 780-800
SAT World History: 700~
My High School GPA is around 98%, and I am ranked as the top 5% in my school
Unfortunately, my school only offers two AP’s (Calculus AB and English) which I will be taking the coming year. However, I did take a few college courses at the local university (extracurriculars)
Extracurriculars:
SRMP - I’ve gotten the opportunity to work with a professional astrophysicist and conduct astrophysical research at the American Museum of Natural History. We researched the changing periodicity of Variable Cepheids in the Large Magellanic cloud. BTW, I was featured in a video on the Museum’s website, in a series called “Shelf life”. Here’s the link.

Model United Nations: Visited Harvard University, University of Virginia, and Washington University
(will run for club president coming year)
Chinese culture club
I also took a few courses at AMNH in Physics and Astronomy in my freshman and sophomore years
I took two college courses at my local college, getting a high mark of A in both Statistics and Astronomy
I will doing an internship at AMNH this fall, where I will interact with visiters using mini science demonstrations
I was part of Student Government in my freshman year, and will likely join in my final year.
BTW, I am interested in majoring in Physics
Please let me know what you think of my chances. :)))
Hey, I’m a Hong Kong local undergraduate student majoring in English at CUHK. Got any questions about the universities in HK? Feel free to ask!
Has anyone got their offer for hku fast track?
Applied to HKU regular round. Will be applying to HKUST by tomorrow.
Does anyone know if CUHK offers any scholarship to International students? I couldn’t find any info about it.
Stn, I got in HKU. (Fast track)
Zain, a friend of mine applied to CUHK. He got 130% scholarship. He applied early though.
Hey, @Daemonox
When did u apply hku for the fast track? And can u please tell us your stats.
Btw do we get an email from them or do we need to see our application status?
What major did you apply @Daemonox ?
I applied for fast track in early November.
I applied for engineering. Mechanical, to be precise.
GPA: 3.98 (Unweighted), Class rank= 4/300
SAT 2 = 2320
SAT 1 = 2190
4A in ASLEVEL.
5A*, 4A, 1B in OLEVEL.
Solid EC’s. Debating, Math Club President, Math Olympiads, IT, Web design, Community Service.
I think what helped me was my interest in HKU. I was the only one out of HK to go to HKU’s summer camp (I’m from Pakistan). I think that def helped me.
You will get an email as well as an update on your application status on the portal.
@Daemonox were you interviewed? And did you receive a scholarship offer?
@stn152 Does your application status also say “Under Consideration”?
@Pranaya98 yep, have you got the offer?
Nope. Have been waiting. When did you apply?
November 15th
I was interviewed.
I did receive a scholarship offer.
Do you know other people who also got the offer?
I know of another boy in my school who got an acceptance and 50% scholarship.
Hi everybody. I am an international student who applied for HKUST fast track, but I still haven’t received any emails notifying me of acceptance/deferral. Is this normal?
If my application has been reviewed, should my application show “under consideration?” Strangely, mine doesn’t, so I’m thinking if I forgot to send in any materials. Am I supposed to send in everything under “supporting materials?”
Thanks!
I already got my offer for hkust on 29th of december
@stn152 Before receiving your offer, did your “Review Decision / Offer Status” show “under consideration” or anything similar, or was it blank? Did you submit every supporting document including degree certificates .etc? Thanks!
