@maddy09 I have submitted only SAT essay score (9) since they require only essay score as a proof for english. I will be giving SAT subject test on 2nd May. AFAIK for Indians, I think they require only 12th percentage and 12th english subject also as one of the proof for english.
@maddy09 I have not applied for HKU. Even I applied for HKUST in late round since I came to know too about these colleges.
@sanj64 Yeah, I got an offer from HKU for engineering and I got around 60 percentish schol…
What is your condition for scholarship?
What is the criteria to receive conditional offer from HKUST? My application is pretty much complete except for submitting official 12th transcripts for which I have given an estimated date of 31st May. I have submitted my predicted grades though.
has anyone applied for a PG/ ph.d … ??? and have you got the offer letter … ?
Got an offer from HKUST for Engineering… huge dilemma …got scholarship fm HKU but none from Hkust…
Which one should I choose? any suggestions…
which one has a better reputation? Please help…
@maddy09 congrats :)>- … can you please share your stats? Were you a late round applicant for HKUST?
HKUST is much better than HKU for engineering. If money is an issue, go to HKU.
Is anyone still waiting for HKU? It is almost May now and I still hear nothing from them, not even a request to provide extra information / documents etc.
(p.s I am doing science)
Rejected from HKUST. I even submitted my predicted score of 94% CBSE, good ECs and achievements…even then rejected. Does anyone have any clue why did this happen?
PS: I applied in late round.
Same here, I applied in early round, I have 2 friends who have lower grades than me, less ecs, and an ok personal statement, and the got accepted just a month after applying in the main round. The admission committee sucks! God knows how they evaluate applications. I still had made up my mind for hku, so not that sad. What about you? Where will you be going?
@uniboundjamy I can’t believe that you were rejected even after applying in early round. That’s ridiculous considering that your friends with inferior stats got in.
As far as I am concerned I think that the reason for my rejection is applying in the late round. They said that late round applicants are only considered if there are vacancies. Looks like they are out of vacancies or may have compared my application with the most competitive application pool who were looking for admission in the late round.
As of now, I am totally devastated . My last hope is to get admission in some good college of India (home country) and I am working hard for BITSAT and JEE advanced. Although chances for JEE advanced look bleak to me, so my only hope is BITSAT. Otherwise, I will have to gap this year and look next year for admission. I will even apply for US colleges next year.
Gap year is not a bad thing, I think in India and Pakistan (that’s where I’m from), it’s thought to be bad if you take an year off, but if you think it will help you, then go for it definitely. Best of luck!
Taking gap is always better than going to third class colleges in India like vit, srm etc. and ruining your future.
Am I the only one here, who hasn’t heard anything about the decision from HKU?
same here @rohanrulesall
Hi, just looking to learn about how competitive the Politics and Public Administration department is at HKU. Do any of you here know much about the program? I’m an international student from a polytechnic in Singapore with a low GPA (probably around 3.15) but decent SATs (SAT 1-2210 Math 670 CR 740 Writing 800 Essay 10) and SAT subject tests (Japanese 800 Literature 790). I’m going to take the Math 2 subject test in October. I have decent ECs and volunteering hours. Am I competitive at all for the Faculty of Social Sciences? And can I hope to receive any financial aid? Thank you in advance (:
Okay, so HKU hasn’t come up with any decision for me until now! What the hell am I supposed to do?
^
Do you still want to attend HKU?
Obviously, I’d like to since its a better fit for me. I have another place to go to as well. It’s just so not justifiable for a university to give no decision on an application. I paid them to give a decision on it.
Same here. I havent got my decision yet. I applied in early round itself. It really doenst mean they havent reviewed my app. I dont know what to do.
