Hobbies vs. Extracurriculars?

I like to fold origami, knit, and crochet in my spare time, but is any of this significant? They’re just a hobby. I mean, I don’t enter any contests (I can’t find any) or do them that often or even take classes (I taught myself all three), but it’s something I like to do, and I think I’m pretty good.

I’m not planning on putting them as ECs because there’s really not much to say about them, but should I tell my interviewer or put it elsewhere in my application? Would it be considered as a hook? I know not that many people are interested in this stuff…but it’d be awesome if I could join a club or something at a bs for crafts and stuff…

I agree, that you probably shouldn’t list “origami” as one of your “extracurricular activities”, but if your really passionate about it, you should definitely include it somewhere in your essay or talk about it in your interview.

I don’t think that the mere fact that you “fold origami” or “knit” will be considered as a “hook”. But I do think you will be seen as little more interesting, considering most people our age (I assume your anywhere from 13-15) aren’t really involved in knitting and things of that sort. So, I do think it will make you seem more interesting, and that will definitely work to your advantage.
